First “13 Single Released Apr 19th

This will be a short and sweet comment.  It appears the first single from “13” will be “God is Dead?” – it’s showing up on the Amazon (US) MP3 store.  As I write this in the wee hours of Monday morning the 15th, I don’t see it available anywhere else at the moment, but I’m sure that will change shortly.   There’s no sound sample, and you can’t pre-order the thing.   But what you can see is artwork, which is shown below..

  1. The face on this artwork looks (to me) disturbingly like Bill Ward’s expression on Sabotage….or maybe I need my eyes checked. Anyone?

    • Speaking of eyes checked – When they woke Bill up for Sabotage photo shoot, looks like all he needed were black and white CHECKED tighty whiteys and some red see thru tights!!!
That cover always cracks me up!!!

    • Brian Mijal says

I can see that too… good look.

  2. For those curious about the guy on the cover art, it’s Friedrick Nietzsche, the great philosofer that wrote this famous phrase “God is dead”, but as an afirmation, not a quote like sabbath did. (sorry for any english errors, i’m from Brazil). Sabbath forever!!!

That kinda sucks that there isn’t a sound sample available. Joe do you know when there will be a single release for the radio stations, or will they use the one you mentioned? Thanks.

  4. That is a weird looking picture. I hope the song is worth the wait.

  5. Good God almighty!!!! (I know ironic…:P)

Just days away!! I hope this is 100% true! and I see them play live in Sydney in just 11 days!!! :D

Love the artwork. And the Nietzsche image. They deserve thoughtful artwork. I like that they are using the Never Say Die image on the posters too. Its a great image. And a great album too in my estimation (shhh!).
This is available two days before my birthday. I feel like its a birthday present Joe! :)
Thanks for keeping up so well on the recent developments. You’ve really been great reporting up to the moment news. Much appreciated!

Hi, Joe do you know if the single will have a physical release? Cd and/or Vinyl?
    Cheers

  9. I loved the question mark…..

  10. Paul Richardson says

Planet rock just announced that they will be downloading the new single when the press release appears at 8pm UK time, according to Nicky Horne, they have not been given a title & the track will last about 6 mins 30. Could be an edit of god is dead, but can’t wait to hear it!

  11. Paul Richardson says

Update – Nicky Horne we have been promised an e-mail at 8pm (UK time) which means we shall play the world exclusive.

    • Don’t know the name of the song. YEAH RIGHT they don’t.

      • Paul Richardson says

That’s what he said Joe, but when it came to play it, he said we all knew the name of the track but for some reason the management was being a bit sniffy about them announcing it until after 8pm. Anyway have heard it, thought it was a bit ploddy at the beginning and Ozzy’s voice not sounding the best, but when the “No where to run, No where to hide” riff kicked it, it was classic Sabbath, awesome can’t wait to hear the rest & they played the whole 8+ minutes too!

  12. Pete Rossiter says

Just heard God Is Dead? on Ozzy’s Boneyard (Sirius XM Radio) and it was awesome!!! Black Sabbath are back and in fine form!! Ozzy’s vocals were well done, Tony’s guitars…..is there really any questioning him?? Geezer’s bass easily identifiable throughout the song and him and Tony really continue to work their magic perfectly! And as for anyone concerned about Brad Wilk’s drumming….there’s nothing to worry about, I think he did a fantastic job!
Can’t wait until I get copy of the full album!!!
