Back with a list after not having done one. Without going on again about
my personal problems, I think that's all behind me now, I'm caught up with
mail, all the submissions (save for the ones today) are done, so I think
I'm good to go again.

This was all the mail that was pending in the mailing list box, so I'm
sending it out. I did recently post a boatload of changes to my site, you
can see that list here:

http://www.black-sabbath.com/revise.html

Also, if you have a copy of Hammersmith, check the Hammersmith page. If
you are not on the list, please send me your number and location, plus your
name. But please do NOT send it to the list. Send it to
siegler@black-sabbath.com. Thank you for your help with that.

Sorry for all the delays. And yes, I got to see Sabbath (er, H&H) in Dallas
a couple of weeks ago. I got to hang out backstage with the band for about
an hour afterwards - I got quite a lot of emails asking me that. When I
find the time I'll write a review about it, a few funny stories.

Guess I did come off as a bit harsh, but had too many expectations (aka
hype). Do disagree with you on the Van Halen/Van Hagar and Sabbath
comparrison though. I fail to see the difference. Original singer left
and then there was another. Yes, people are going to argue to the end of
time on whomever was the better for either bands, but the situations were
both the same. In the back of my head there is that little doubt on there
being something about Sabbath getting in if Ozzy were the only singer.
Submit your conspiracy theories now. : ) I may have to regret that
little bit...

hey all,
i was also at the radio city show, what a great show, dio sang great as
always. there were also a few celebs there that night,i got to talk to
chris caffery(savatage-t.s.o), metal mike(halford,seb bach,painmusuem) and
jack frost from seven witches and bronx casket company..and they were all
loving the show also.now i have 8th row tixs for there pnc show in april in
jersey..cant wait for that esp after seeing the radio city show.. now as
for them cont on with this after this tour,on eddie trunk after the radio
city show dio said right now they are having a blast and to say it will
cont wouldnt be right..as they all have other commitments to deal with,so
as of right now they are just having fun and seeing what happens and if it
goes on, then great .if not as dio said on the show it took 13 years for
this so whats another 13 years for another reunion ,lol..so enjoy it for
what it is great tunes by a great band and then see what happens down the
road as they are all open to keeping it going along with the ozzy led
sabbath also,so you never know what the future will hold.. the 1 thing
ronnie did say is that there will never be a dio era reunion of rainbow,as
he has only come back to 1 band and that is sabbath and thats the way it
will stay.. peace n metal daze n enjoy the noise. morlockrocks

Joe, I am very disapointed with two of the three new songs. Shadow of the
Wind was great live, and I like the song- but the other two are kinda; how
should I put this...crappy? The riff in Ear in the Wall kicks ass, but the
lyrics are sooo bland and obvious. 'An exorcist, a Wizard and the Holy G'
common Ronnie, why are you still mocking Christianity at that age- your
gonna meet Christ any year now buddy! And the line in the song where he
said 'Your God never made you any eyes' is another mock. I cant stand his
mocking. Among other things, like in the Devil Cried- 'I love you...' he
says to the Devil! Give me a break.

Hi guys well I have never contributed to any postins of this site. I just
like to watch and listen but man oh man I get to see Ronnie,Iommi,Geezer
and appice in two weeks. I have been a fan through every era. The only
singer I never saw was Ian Gillian. I Saw them in Seattle during the Heavan
and Hell Tour but only remember the bright cross strobes. I am also one of
the few to have the signed Forbidden print from the band for the fan club
members. I get to fly to Sacramento from Seattle and have my 19 year old
son pick me up and we are going to drive to see this awesome show. And them
only playing Dio era songs is another bonus, its going to be amazing. I
will be sitting in section 128 Row 15 seats 19 and 20 come by and say
hiiiiiiiigggghhhh.

Are the tracks on this release supposed to be remastered? I've never heard
the H&H, MR or LE individual remastered discs. I can only compare with my
original CDs. The tracks on the new compilation don't sound very good to
me. Is it just me?

[ Ed Note: They're remastered, yes. The H&H stuff sounds MUCH better than
any other version I've heard. Dehumanizer not so much so. ]

The new tracks... "eh, they're ok". Maybe they'll grow on me with time, but
for now, it seems like they are trying to hard to be heavy/gloomy. I know
that's what they're supposed to be, but I don't know how to explain it
really. I'm not trying to critique, just my opinion that's all. Obviously,
the masters are happy, else they would not have released them.

Looking forward to the Cincy show!

I've only heard the studio version of The Devil Cried, the radio edit of
it, and a recording of the live gig in Vancouver, and I'm pretty happy with
the new songs. You could've slipped them onto Dehumanizer and I probably
wouldn't've noticed. Devil and Ear to the Wall don't really grab me as much
as Shadow of the Wind does, I REALLY love that song, and I can't wait to
hear the studio version.

Must say, I was pretty disappointed with Devil Cried at first, having heard
the radio edit initially...but then I heard the unedited version, complete
with blistering Iommi solos, and all my fears were erased. They really
butchered it, IMO, and I'm glad it's not like that on the CD itself.

I'd love to buy that Rhino Handmade CD, but unfortunately, it doesn't look
like they accept Paypal =/ I might have to go to the bank and set something
up so I can pay for it another way, before they're all out.

Subject: The DIO years!
Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2007 19:38:03 -0500

I just got "The Dio Years" today and it's going to be a regular both at
home and in the car for some time. Some people don't like them; we've all
got opinions, but for me, the new songs are excellent. I don't know for
sure how old Ronnie is (my best bet for his birth year is 1942), but to
paraphrase Ralph Malph on "Happy Days," "he's still got it." They all do.

However, I do think it's an injustice that all the Dio-era albums
(including the unfairly-maligned "Live Evil") haven't been released, viz.
the "Black Box" set. I'm wondering if Warner Brothers think that it
wouldn't sell as well as the Ozzy material (unfortunately, they're probably
right, at least here in the U.S.) and hence wasn't worth a box set.

I wouldn't mind seeing the discs with Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes and Tony
Martin remastered and rereleased also...as well as Tony Iommi admitting to
Tony Martin that he blew it by sacking him to get the Ozzy lineup back
together ($$$) so maybe they could do some new material together (not
necessarily under the Black Sabbath name; maybe an Iommi-Martin project
like he's done with Glenn Hughes) because Martin is a great vocalist (my
second-favourite Sabs singer after Dio) and the albums they did were
criminally overlooked in this country. Of course, that's unlikely to
happen.

I haven't been to a gig in ages, but we're finally moving away from
Jerkwater, Indiana next month to Michigan, and if Heaven and Hell plays
near me I WILL be there. Unfortunately, I won't be moved in time for their
London, Ontario gig (which would only be a border crossing and hour's drive
through Canada from our new home) so the Detroit area would probably be the
best bet for me...I haven't seen a gig there since Judas Priest's (awful!)
"Turbo" tour way back in '86 but wouldn't mind it as Detroit metalheads
rock.

Thanks also to the Canadians who contributed last time and said that Heaven
and Hell are so good live...as if they could be anything else (by any other
name, it's still Black Sabbath)!

Cheers, grace and peace!
Randy, formerly of Jerkwater, Indiana

The one I loved the most is........ALL OF THEM !!!!

Iommis guitar sound has something to do with the one in Forbidden but =
heavier, Geezers basslines are somewhat alike those in Cross Purposes, =
Vinnis drums are very heavy just like Dehumanizers and Dios voice... =
Well, the man is over 60 years old and still can sing like a DIO.

I have heard the show in Vancouver (yes, its already in the net) and = they
sound awesome. I cant wait for the show in Brazil (I stil have hope = this
will happen) and the official DVD/CD.

No way a trully Sabbath fan can avoid to like these new tunes. I wont =
discuss if they are actual or else. Its damn good songs, the way I =
expected and thats quite good enough to make me shout it out loud: =
Sabbath is the best ever !!

Ok - As I sit here writing this I find myself stunned and astonished. My
17-year old daughter, who was raised on Black Sabbath, created the poster

Her poster was simple, yet powerful. And she ran a terriffic campaign.
And some wonderful people at Brickfish, some of whom had competing designs,

Alright then, over to the subject of me E-mailing you! I just clicked = the
album cover on the new release "Live at Hammersmith Odeon" and there I =
find something that might just be a blooper from you? In the album credit
you have written this:

* "Tracks 2 / 6 / 7 / 9 / 12 / 14 written by Iommi / Butler / Ward /
Osbourne"

Can that really figure? If the above is correct, that would mean Ozzy
Osbourne co-wrote "Neon knights" together with "the other three original
guys", before he was sacked the 2nd time and Ronnie James Dio came in?

Now, I am definitely not a super Black Sabbath expert, but that sounds
wrong to me!? Is it correct or is it a blooper? I would really like to know
that. And possibly you might want to change it on your site too, if it IS a
blooper?

Thanks for all the effort you put in - the site is great!

Sincerely yours.

Hello Joe,

Just to say I'm a diehard Ozzy fan, have been since I was tiny. Saw
Sabbath on the Dehumanizer tour in Edinburgh (Scotland) for which I posted
a review.

Can I just say Kudos to Heaven & Hell as they are doing which no Ozzy
fronted Sabbath has done since the reunion and that is done a proper UK
tour. I'm a big fan of Dio material particularly with Sabbath and am
absolutely thrilled at the prospect of only having to drive for 1 hour to
Glasgow to see them. With Ozzy or Sabbath I'm always having to drive 3-400
miles away or in the case of Ozzy this year 500 miles to London to see him.

I've travelled to Birmingham 4 times to see Sabbath and Milton Keynes,
Donington etc but cannot wait to see Heaven and Hell at the Glasgow SECC in
November.

Big Plus to Ronnie and the boys, they guys are number one.

Thought you might appreciate a Ozzy Diehard giving major thumbs up to Dio
(And yes, he is the better singer)

Just saw and listened to Heaven and Hell tour. Well Machine Head was not
good. The sound was just terrible; lousy band with no soul. Megadeth was
probably pretty good, but again the sound was just awful. The guy at the
sound board must really be hurting. It was total distortion.

When Black Sabbath came on thankfully the sound was cleaned up. Still it
could have been cleaner. I could actually understand Dio's vocals! The
show was done very well. What can one say; these guys live up to their
reputation.

It is very sad that the people that put on the show sound seem in most
cases to never be able to get the room's sound right. How about tuning to
the room? It can be loud, clean, and sweet. I could have brought my sound
meter to the show. My guess is that at its worst it was at 135 to 140 dB's
during the show. I wore hearing protection like I wear to the auto races.
Not enough! Next time I will bring my shooter's hearing protection
headgear. The sound people that do these shows really hurt the audiences
and the any performance a band might present.

So far, I've only listened to this on my laptop: here the sound is a
little thin, and Geezer tends to get lost in the mix, so I "have to" listen
to it again and "again and again" on a better system to verify.

When you open the disc you will see on he left-hand side is basically a
concert banner that shows Jan 1982 as opposed to December 31, 1981, the
first of their four consecutive nights' shows at Hammersmith. Now I wonder
if instead of a single concert, this is an amalgam of those four shows. Do
you think we could expect any kind of confirmation, or at least an
explanation from the band on how we are to interpret what appears to be a
contradiction? Or should we just assume that this is the Dec 31 show as
originally advertised?

Either way, it's a phenomenal record of my favorite band perhaps at their
best. Picking my favorite Sabbath line-up or era is a lot like trying to
pick which of my two daughters is my favorite. OK: that simile is a little
crazy: I do love my girls more than I could possibly love any band or
anything material, but you get the point, right?

I can only hope that more official live releases are in our future. I'll
be happy to get them, even if I already own unauthorized recordings of the
same shows. And if my daughters can enjoy Sabbath with me (on CD, DVD,
album, or maybe even live), then so much the better for us all.

Good evening Joe,
First: I am sorry for the recent loss to your family. It is a very tough
thing we all have to go through and I'm glad that the support of the
internet community has been shared with you.

Second: You're website is simply amazing! I know you are not a member of
Black Sabbath, but they should consider making you an honorary member. The
completeness of it is staggering, especially when you consider that this is
a hobby for you! Simply wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time to
give us slacker fans so much information, rumor control and pictures. I
have an older brother and so I have been 'listening' to Black Sabbath since
I was in kindergarten. When he went over seas, I jacked his albums,
including the first 5 Sabbath albums... and I still have them! (I collect
audio equipment from the 70's & early 80's and still have 2 turntables in
excellent working order.)

Third: Three of my friends and I drove down from Southern California last
Thursday for the Chula Vista H&H concert. I had seen this line up in the
80's at the Long Beach Arena on The Mob Rules Tour (The Outlaws opened for
them). They were awesome then and simply amazing last Thursday. Ronnie's
voice was simply amazing and the heaviness of the band was HUGE! Wikipedia
has an interesting bit on RJD's age, no one seems to know the man's real
age. However, I think he still has the best voice out there, period.
Megadeth was tight as hell and very powerful. We didn't go in to watch
Machine Head (even though it is one of my favorite DP albums). Fourth: I
dig your idea of tracking the 5000 owners of the Hammersmith CD, very cool.
I was pleased when disc showed up Saturday and it has been played, very
loudly, in the house, the garage, the truck and at work! I never got to
see Sabbath play Country Girl live, so this was something that I've been
waiting years for! I still remember the first time the needle on my mom's
Montgomery Ward turntable dropped on side two of The Mob Rules, I was
floored... The reviews I've read about it were about perfect. Tony's solo
in Heaven and Hell is killer, as is all of the playing on that disc. (I
have attached a picture of my CD, I hope it's not too large, my camera and
I have never really bonded.) I'm glad I got one of them... I just looked,
and they are sold out. That sucks, cuz there are so many fans of this
band, what were they thinking?! I guess that's about it Joe, thanx again
for all that you have done for us Black Sabbath fans. I'm sure that your
concert experience was as good as mine and I hope you got home safe so you
can give us your review.

PEACE!!

Hi Joe,

Just sending a quick E-mail your way that I received a copy of Black
Sabbath - Live @ Hammersmith Odeon # 0503/5000 (Numbered Limited Edition)
about 2-3 days after you sent out a message on your website indicating this
classic gem was finally starting to ship to those who ordered. I got no
confirmation. It just showed up in the mail. Sound quality for E5150
(Intro.) was a bit low/sounded like background music & the audience builds,
but not enough/then Keon Knights is twice as loud/rest of the disc is
descent/has a bootleg quality to the recording/excellent versions/enjoy
listening to of all tracks especially the rare live sounds of "Country
Girl" & "Slipping Away w./Drum Solo.

Going to see (BS.)(H&H) next Thursday day night (May 17th) @ The Tsongas
Arena in Lowell, MA. Wished "Ear in the Wall" would be played, but remains
MIA from the current US tour setlist/who knows? The setlist for most of the
US dates sound great to me/close to the Radio City Music Hall concert show.
I'll take it. The biggest thrill is just to see RJD. singing only Mk. 2
Sab. material w./Tony, Geezer, & Vinny A. I loved their interview on Eddie
Trunk's radio show/(Mr. VH1 Classic)/live on 3/30/07. Geezer & the
Italians(or The Black Catholics)/was over the top/I guess Ozzy isn't the
only clown or comedian of the whole bunch!?

Aside from this, hope all is well with you/etc.. Keep up the Sabbath
site/love the whole forum!

Take Care!

Heaven and Hell at Cobo Hall in Detroit was awesome! 4 full hours of pure
metal!! Machine Head was decent. I wasn't too excited to see them but they
put on a damn good live show. Megadeth rocks as hard as ever. They
started with two songs off of 'The System Has Failed' then jumped into
"Wake Up Dead." They played a new song that was pretty good then wasted no
time going to the classics. "Hangar 18", "Symphony of Destruction", "Holy
Wars", and "Peace Sells..." Kick ass set. Black Sabbath, of course, was
phenomenal. They played pretty much the same set as at the rest of the
shows with some interchanges with the songs. They played "Sign of the
Southern Cross" before "I" and "The Devil Cried" before "Voodoo". Vinnie's
drum solo was amazing. Dio, along with the rest of the band, sounded
fantastic. Before "Die Young" Tony played an eight minute solo that blew
my mind. Then of course the ten minute version of "Heaven and Hell" was
spectacular. I had never seen Dio live before so this is something that
will stay with me forever. Anyone looking to catch this show will not be
disappointed!
