All I can say is go see them if you can. Incredible setlist from start to
finish. Total jamming. Geezer and Tony just like bookends killing it. "I'
was soooo powerful live..."Die Young," "Neon Knights," and "Heaven and
Hell" amazing as were "Sign of the Southern Cross" and "Falling Off The
Edge of the World." New songs great! Let's hope we get the DVD and live
CD out of this. Totally worth it. Saw them on Heaven and Hell and Mob
Rules tours...the music has only gotten better as their legend and skills
have grown. Like a fine wine to be savoured, this show certainly made up
for the last few Ozzfest's. Dio is still "The Voice." Iommi got to shred
way more than within the confines of the limited Ozzfest setlist. Truly
inspired playing by all. Great stage, sound and lighting. A completely
professional and extraordinary show from start to finish. Just wished they
played a few more. Not one bad song. Butler and Iommi just laid it down
and Tony really seemed to being enjoying himself and the crowd. Geezer
Butler is greatest rock 'n' roll bassist alive. This is one of the
greatest heavy metal / hard rock lineups ever assembled and must not be
missed! Heaven and Hell is BLACK SABBATH. They should bust out "Lonely Is
The Word" and "TV Crimes" for the encore.

My blood is BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Saw the show in Cleveland 5/11. Tony shook
off "Ear in te wall", Ronnie seemed a little pissed. The set list is
everything as the Calgary show, except they only did "Neon Knights" for the
only encore. I pissed off a few people with the list. Big deal, a few
liked , a few didn't, when it comes to the band I've listened to for life.
Get a load of me!

Hi there,

Got my Hammersmith Odeon digi pack a week ago. I was pleasently surprised
with the production. I anticipated that it would sound like some crappy
quality bootleg. Say like Past Lives which sounded more like a bootleg...
But it sounded amazingly good and very well produced. I still like Live
Evil the best though because of production - I prefer Iommi guitar and
Geezer's bass on foreground. In fact Live Evil is my favorite live album of
all times.

I also got Black Sabbath - The Dio Years. I had heard The Devil Cried and
Ear In The Wall before I got the CD. And I kinda liked both tracks although
I found Devil Cried just a bit boring. But I still think it was pretty
good. And I liked the lyrics a lot. Not to mention that they sound much
heavier and more like true Black Sabbath than Psychoman and Selling My
Soul. However, when I heard The Shadow of The Wind, I was totally blown
away. That's the heaviest track Sabbath wrote with Ronnie James Dio. And
the production of this tracks is very different from the rest of the 2.
Thumbs up.

Saw Megadeth and Heaven And Hell on May 14th in Albany. Drove 3 hours from
Boston.

Megadeth were ok, but bored me to mega "deth". I just didn't find that they
put their souls into the show.

Heaven And Hell were amazing. Sound, performance, stage presense, lights
were all great. It's been almost 15 years since I saw Black Sabbath in
Boston in August, 1992 on their Dehumanizer tour. Just that improvized solo
during Heaven And Hell (the song) was worth of 6 hour trip. Of course, I'm
going to see them on Thursday in Lowell, Massachusetts for the second time.

Hi Joe, well, i personally liked very much "The Devil Cried" i would've
like to hear the intro riff at some other point in the song but, it's still
a killer, great track. "Ear in the Wall" was ok, i just couldn't find
anything too exciting about it but i don't dislike it. With Shadow of the
wind, i feel its an idea that Iommi has overused a little, the typical slow
tempo heavy riffing song, but i find it similar to some things he's done
before like "Time is the Healer" from DEP and "The Spell" from Fused. I'm
not saying it's wrong, it's just that it doesn't work for me if i had
already heard it quiet a few times using the same idea in other songs.
Anyway, in the overall, i liked the new songs, as well as the remastering
done to all the old tracks, they sound much more powerful.

I hope they come down to Argentina and south america later in the year!
maybe Ronnie can convince the other Sabs to do it, he has come here twice
in the last few years, well that's all, thanks Joe for keeping the site up
in this very exciting moment in Sabbath's life, knowing what you're are
going through right now, i send you the best wishes.

Hey!

I am really surprised to see that so many of you are knocking the 3 new
songs, Come on! We have not heard any new Sabbath material for......what?
Nine years? When they finally do come up with something new we ought to be
glad for it. Besides; I really like the songs, and I am not just saying
that because I am a fan, they are really good. First of all the sound is so
doomy, almost like their first album. Secondly, Iommis riffs are great;
heavy, yet melodic. And, finally, Ronnie's voice is still sounding great.
With these three things in mind; what more do you need? Great songs by
great musicians should always render a certain amount of respect.

Also, to you who criticized Ronnie's lyrics; I think you missed the point.
Read what Ronnie has said about the contents of the songs. There are plenty
of interviews out there which deals with this topic so I hardly need to
write it all here.

In conclusion; the new songs are really good and ENJOY THEM!!! We'll never
know when we'll get new songs the next time......if ever.

Thanks for a great site Joe!

What is wrong with you people? I think The Devil Cried, Shadow in the Wind
and Ear in the Wall are great tracks. It seems you just can't please some
people. I heard the same whining about Psycho Man, Selling my Soul and
Scary Dreams. I thought they were excellent tracks! I still hope for a new
album sometime soon. It just goes to show you can't always listen to those
who started listening to Sabbath after 1984!

Right! This has been a damn good couple of months. First, The Dio Years
comes out. I got it on the first day. The re-mastering is more obvious on
the first two albums than on Dehumenizer. There was 12 more years of
technology for the studio, not much needed to be done. The thing I noticed
the most is that Geezer comes through much better on the Heaven and Hell
and Mob Rules material. I think they added a little echo to Ronnie in
places. They sound better than ever. The new material is top notch! The
only one that ranks up there as a classic is The Devil Cried. The chord
changes , harmony vocals, this one got me from the start. It does not rank
with the absolutes,.ie Heaven and Hell, Falling off the edge of the world,
Sign of the Southern Cross, I, and Neon Knights! These are pretty much
irreplacable masterpieces!!! The other two are excellent Sabbath songs.
Now that everyone's heard them and loves them, I'll move on. I also have
the Live at Hammersmith album. This is also a great addition to my
collection. It's not as polished as Live Evil , That's one reason it sounds
so good. It's more like you would hear live! Raw!!!! It also has excellent
versions of Slipping away and Country Girl. Those are two songs they played
when they came my way back then. I don't know when everybody else got
theirs, but it wasn't supposed to be shipped until May first, I got mine on
April 29th. That was a suprise. Then there was May 11th!!!!!!!!!! Live as
it happens. This was truly an inspiring night!!! First off, all the songs
were played all the way through. There was no cutting to a different song
in the middle of another one. I never did like that idea. Especially with
Sign of the Southern cross. That song is so massive it needs to be played
whole!!!!!! Almost every song was a little longer, usually so Tony could
play a longer solo. He was ON FIRE!!!!! On Heaven and Hell especially! The
solo wa a little more melodic and some places more chaotic and intense.
Like a surgeon's scaple at a 120 miles an hour. They didn't have the older
songs to play, so they had more time for the Dio material. Geezer and
Vinnie were machines. Watching Geezer play can make you dizzy! Ronnie was
right on the money-plus that night. He hardly dodged anything vocally. I
couldn't believe how good he sounded. I finally did get to hear Falling off
the edge of the world live!!!!!! That was an incredible song to hear! There
is nothing like hearing Tony play live. It never fails to inspire. This
setlist may be slightly out of order. I didn't write them down as they
happened. Not in the middle of a show like that!!!!!! Here it is in some
close semblence of order: E5150- After all-Mob Rules-Children of the Sea-
Lady Evil- The Devil Cried- I -Uoodoo- Sign of the Southern Cross- Shadow
of the wind- Computer God- Falling off the edge of the world- Die Young-
Heaven and Hell- (encore) Neon Knights! Over two hours and we still wanted
more! I'm still recovering from that and I hope it lasts a long
while!!!!!!

I was looking on ebay the other day for some Sabbath LP's, and wasn't sure
if TYR ever made it out there on Vinyl? So, I just looked under "Black
Sabbath TYR" and the only auction that came up was for a CD version....and
it was OVER $30!!!!???

I know I've seen this CD in the used bin numerous times, and I always felt
bad...as I think it's a damn good one!

After doing some more searches online, I found out it is in fact Out Of
Print. I find it hard to believe that ANY Sabbath music would be out of
print. I mean maybe I could understand "Forbidden", but still???

My first thought would be that they are going to remaster them all (as has
been rumored), but I figured that would be Ozzy and Dio stuff....not Martin
Era???

[ Ed Note: They'll eventually get around to the Martin era I'm told, but
that's not where the attentions are focused at the moment. Don't forget
that the Martin era material was on a record label that doesn't exist
anymore. That won't help. ]

Hi Joe!

I hope you are doing well!

I have 5 copies, but as you know the numbers are on the inside, and I only
want to open one, and will decide what to do with the others someday in the
future to help fund my retirement LOL. So, my own personal copy is 2295.

If you need proof, I can get you a pic of that at a later date.

I'm getting ready now to make the trip to Holmdel, NJ for the Heaven and
Hell show tonight. I will be sure to pass along my thoughts of the show to
you and the list if you'd like. I've pulled out my blessed Dehumanizer tour
shirt from '92 for this most holy event! smile

2295 - Joe Karavis (Wilkes-Barre, PA)

Thanks Joe!

Subject: Ozzy's "Black Rain"
From: Fabio_Antonio_Esquivel_Chac=F3n?= <fabio@esquivel.com>

Just wanted to say that last saturday I bought Ozzy's "Black Rain" at a
local store, although I know the official release date is tomorrow, May
22th.

It's totally different from "Down to Earth", actually IT'S FUCKING HEAVY!!
It kind of reminds me the heaviness of 1995's "Ozzmosis", maybe heavier.
It's that good.

I'm a Dio-era Sabbath fan, mainly, but appreciate a lot Gillan's and
Martin's work as well; I got to know that Ozzy was Sabbath's frontman until
late (mid 80's)... Actually I've always felt the true Sabbath, the one that
I really respect, is the lineup with Dio.

So, you guys may deduct I'm not a big Ozzy-era fan (however "Sabbath Bloody
Sabbath" really rocks!), but I've bought Ozzy's latest work (since 1995)
just to see how he's doing... And believe me: "Black Rain" totally rocks
the craddle (and my house's windows ;-) !!

BTW, I've noticed there are two different album covers for "Black Rain",
the simple "Ozzy Osbourne" cover visible in Amazon.com (a recycled-paper,
no lyrics, no liner notes, no nothing!) and the one shown in Joe's site
(under Ozzy's discography)... Why is that?

Fabio

[ Ed Note: As far as I know that "plain one" was a promotional cover.
Before the proper artwork was released, that's what was shown as a
placeholder. Some places might not have properly updated yet. ]
