FUCKING AWESOME!!!
Finally the long forgotten Dave Donato era has something to show for itself. I'm glad that GSY was able to interview Dave and clear up some of the misconceptions that have been around forever.
I wonder if any of the other songs he did with Sabbath were any good? I guess not if Iommi never used them...
I think he's got a pretty good voice and I like his lyrics
"I want to tell you, yeah
How Good It Feels
Sleeping here with you tonight
And that’s for real"
-Sometimes I'm Happy 8/5/75
The lyrics are really good but the vocals are okay. Its interesting to imagine what could have came of this lineup if it had stayed together.
For a semi-related question: Did Geezer and Bill quit before or after Live Aid? Was it when the Donato lineup broke?
Didn´t played here, can anybody help me?

The songs are very good. Could easily sit on any post Ozzy Sabbath album. 'Sail On' is particularly good. Quite strange how none of this was included on 'Seventh Star'.
me too not able to connect to it and listen...

I thought Geezer didnt write any lyrics after Ozzy left. I'm pretty sure those are Donato's lyrics.

Garry only uploaded "No Way Out".
They don't sound like Geezer's lyrics to me.
if you read the Kerrang interview you'll see that Geezer decided to write the lyrics after Ian left cause the ones Dio and Ian wrote weren't very "Sabbath like". They even told Dave how to sing them

Er... did you read the stuff at Rockdetector? Dave basically said that the Kerrang interview was bullshit. They were starting from scratch, nobody told him what and how to sing it. He said he would've preferred that, though. But he wrote the lyrics and melody line.

Hm... I'm pretty sure Donato only sang it, and that Geoff wrote all those lyrics..
Now it's working, folks! Donato have a very good voice, but he don´t have that... extra, you know, I prefer Glenn and Ray singing the Seventh Star material

I'm not putting the other tracks up because they have not been used in any form. There are some really strong Iommi riffs there so, who knows, they might resurface officially.
'No way Out' was safe to put up because it has already seen issue in a different form as 'The Shining'. Besides the Ezrin demos there are also the Geezer demos, 'Inner World', etc and Donato singing regular Sabbs material such as 'War Pigs', 'Disturbing', etc. These tracks are actually much better recorded, very clear, and demonstrate Donato could easily have done the job.
Someone mentioned a reference to Donato audios on sabbathlive.com. Again it repeats this error about Donato being in the band for "weeks" - It was six months.

I didn't invent the "two weeks" thing. I was just repeating what I had been told and read myself. I've NEVER claimed to be the 100% authority on these issues.
If you want get more confusing, try the Eternal Idol recoding era. My timeline however was put together by things told to me by Bob Daisley & Eric Singer. I'm fairly confident in that.
However, the time post Born Again, pre- Seventh Star recording is definitely confusing, or at least mostly unknown as Garry will attest.

Exactly right Joe, which is why I put the effort in to write the book. The information in the infamous 'Kerrang' interview is completely worthless and what got repeated in the UK rock media afterwards was even worse. Unfortunately (you have to remember this in context) 'Kerrang' was bashing Sabbath throughout most of the 80s.
'Kerrang' had a very nasty habit of completely fabricating things. There was the famous incident where one of their journalists went from Lomndon to Los Angeles, at band's expense, to review a show, wrote the review, got it printed in 'Kerrang' - after which the band discovered he never even went to the gig! (He was sacked - then joined 'Metal Hammer') Stories like that are commonplace.
It does amaze me though that I keep coming across the same "facts" repeated again and again, especially in regard to David Donato and Jeff Fenholt, but also Tony Martin and actually the entire post-Ozzy era. It was a common thread for all the musicians I spoke to.
Added to this you get major companies like Sanctuary peddling tripe like Steven Rosen's book. It's a sad fact that if you walk into most bookstores and look for a Sabbath book, that's the one that will be there. Historically it is complete bollocks, it's heavily biased and the guy even invented interview content. Yet Sanctuary are quite happy to keep re-printing the damn thing.
Nobody can get everything right. Joe does an amazing job with this website but I guess he can only work with what he's got. Hopefully 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' has filled in some of the gaps.
Hey Gary, help me in one thing... A friend o'mine is spending some time in Canada, and when she come back she'll bring me one Sabbath book. I want one of yours, but I only have money for one. As you can see, I love Ray Gillen era, and I'm specially into the post Ian Gillan eras, so, what book you recomend for me? Never Say Die or Sabbath Bloddy Sabbath?

Hi 'Ray Rules' - go with 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'.
More pictures, lots more. Added interview content, etc.
'NSD' is now redundant.
Thanks, man..
Can you travel to Brazil and sign it for me? just kidding.. I'll buy SBS than, thanks man!

Really nice to hear Bill play the drums on that song.
I really enjoyed this version of what would become "The Shining". I actually REALLY prefer this one ... I love Donato's vocals, and the drumming and bass work. Too bad it never worked out.
How could this poison be the dream of my soul
How did my fantasies take complete control, yeah
so why don't Geezer and Bill get credits on Eternal Idol
