Don't you just love those backorders, from any company?

My Edge Of Sanity albums were lodged in the backorder list of a certain other company for over 2 months until I had to change them for 2 other albums that I wanted anyway, luckily I did get those quickly. Not that I hate these companies for these backorders, I keep making orders anyway (I made 3 other orders from this company while I was waiting), I can understand completely that some items may be out of stock every once in a while. I wish they placed some information along with the item as to whether the item is available immediately or is an order item that has to be waited for. I understand CDON.COM has many stock companies through which they sell their items so their catalogue may not be accurate at all times. But still, it's sometimes a pain in the ass!

Spring seems to have arrived all of a sudden and I was in the garage doing some much needed spring cleaning. I found a cassette in a box. Curious, I located a machine capable of playing such antique devices (not easy). By way of background, my last cassette deck died around 1985 and I have never used cassettes since. If somebody had made a bet with me I would have put money on the fact that I have not owned a cassette in at least twenty years, but here this one was...

It contained... a recording that I had made of Jim Ladd of KMET radio station (a truly great station that unfortunately is now defunct) playing side 1 of Pink Floyd's the Wall on the day it was released. This was my introduction to this great album. The cassette also had recordings from the King Biscuit Flower Hour of Ted Nugent and Cheap Trick. This was a great trip down memory lane and I have now played both sides all the way through.
If you have an eight year old son, and you're getting fat anyway...
    you're doing something wrong.

    Ratt - Best Of Me
Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

Indeed...Nowadays it shouldn't be to difficult to put the stock on to the site...I would still order it even if it would be backordered...but just waiting and waiting and waiting and not knowing what the heck is going on just sucks. But cdon.com has had a pretty good track record with me...They have been very reliable in the past and very fast at times too...unlike some other places that need the payment up front and then I never get the cd at all...Now that sucks...

2 months is a long time to wait and still not get it...
It's strange by the way, that all of the problems that I've ever had have always been with finnish record companies...the foreign ones have always worked more than fine never a problem to speak of.

NP: Deep Purple - You Fool No One
Part from the singing this is a pretty good album, bit on the softer side, compared to Machine Head..

After a month of the Black Sabbath/Iommi celebration theme, I just unleashed a combined Saxon & Motörhead theme...

    Now playing Saxon's Frozen Rainbow...

---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:30 PM ----------

And now playing Motörhead's excellent rocker On Parole...

...gives me smile after this most shitty day, and THAT is the heart & soul of Motörhead, to keep rocking and smiling!!!

    Fast.

I'm streamlining my worn-out, scratched and screwed-up Thin Lizzy collection by ordering the expanded Greatest Hits. From there I can get a true reminder of which albums I liked best in the first place, and re-buy those...

@Sabbathman - yes indeed! I think this one clocks in at around 2 mins 17 secs. It's a perfect little piece of rock IMO.

Full of nice lead breaks, tempo & rhythm pattern switches, jazzy grooves and at times reggae-ish jamming sensation...laid back & fierce at the same time, what a Motörjestic song: IRON HORSE/BORN TO LOSE

So, the Thin Lizzy Greatest Hits CD arrived as partial replacement for my scratched & warped vinyl and the tapes my old deck tried to ingest. On first listen it sounds not so much re-mastered as disinfected. They're still great but...

I noticed yesterday that although Amazon (here in US) is taking pre-orders for Festival for a 4/13/10 release date, Jon Oliva's Pain website says you can order direct from them for $20 incl. s&h. from the way it sounds, it's available now through his site. In that case I think I'll be getting it sooner than I originally thought possible.

How are you liking it Charger?

Also Amazon is taking pre-orders for a 3 disc Savatage set (2 cd best of and a DVD). I've totally forgotten the name of it though

The Savatage compilation is called 'Still The Orchestra Plays' - I've ordered it primarily for the live DVD and had an email this morning to say its in the post. The package is a bargain - 2 CDs and a DVD for £8.95! I understand they're remastering all the Savatage CDs, so count me in for HOTMK, an all-time classic. btw Festival is good too, enjoying it - JO's in fine voice.

    Apologies for topic diversion! NP:

I already pre-ordered the Orchestra Plays from HMV with just 8.95£ should be interesting...I do have a bootleg copy the Japan DVD but it's nice to get it in better quality as well.

I'm really digging the Festival. At times very complex and again very simple. Pretty much in the vain of Maniacal Renderings...Favourites so far are Festival, Death Rides A Black Horse, Lies, Winter Haven and I Fear You...especially Winter Haven is absolutely brilliant with it's total 180 in the middle of the song...and Festival wierd riff is beyond greatness!
