Uncle Acid and the deadbeats is pretty cool. Pretty doomy but with heavy 60's influence from bands such as The Beatles, early Pink Floyd, The Kinks, etc. One youtube comment said "reminds me of The Beatles doing doom metal" which I feel is a pretty accurate statement.

And now, for some self promotion, my band Wicked Inquisition. We will be releasing our debut album shortly.

Couple new doom bands to check out:

Pallbearer - Just released their first album on Profound Lore about a month ago. Great stuff.

Pilgrim - Just released their first album on Metal Blade earlier this year. I don't have it but I have their demo and it's solid.

Don't know if they've been mentioned yet, but Pagan Altar is a great band. Originally came up during the NWOBHM era but didn't release anything other than a demo. In the past decade or so, they've re-recorded and released much of the material they wrote but never originally released in the early '80s. Great stuff, doomy, but not a Sabbath clone.

Jex Thoth - Interesting psychedelic doomish stuff led by a female vocalist (Jessica Toth aka, the aforementioned Jex Thoth). The full length album is really great.

Age Of Winters by The Sword is very good and quite doomy. I would like to pick up their second album(do not know the name). I wonder if they are still together!?

Their drummer quit a while back (something about anxiety issues, if I remember correctly). I think they are still together, though

    New CANDLEMASS song is up!

Candlemass - Dancing In The Temple Of The Mad Queen Bee

What a title! That has to be among the greatest song titles ever! And the song kicks ass too!
Can't wait for the album...June...finally there is a reason to wait for summer!
-Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper. Oh how I need to be free of this pain but it goes over and over and over again-

Absolutely one of the best Candlemass tunes since Lowe took over the mic stand. Wouldn't label it as "doom metal" but that doesn't really matter. This is classic hard rock and well done.

Check out Lord Vicar (ex Reverend Bizarre) if you haven't heard em already! Also, Voodooshock from Germany, and The Gates Of Slumber are excellent.

Can't beat the classics though - Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Count Raven, Trouble, Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Witchfinder General, Cathedral, early Obsessed etc.

I didn't read through the whole post, so if I mention a band already mentioned, sorry. But I feel these bands I will mention will be great for the Sabbath fan to check out: they will be the more traditional doom metal bands.

    Trouble - Psalm 9, Trouble
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty and Friends of Hell
    Count Raven - All
Candlemass- First FOUR albums (they have other great albums as well, but check out those first)
    Cathedral - The Carnival Bizzare
    Pagan Altar - All
    Saint Vitus - V
Solitude Aeternus - First Three albums and Alone
