^ hey, that sounds like the ref's decisions (unfairly) favoured Man Utd, through the game. I didn't watch that match; I was instead glued to Tottenham's game against Bremen (and glimpses of Barca's match against Panathaikos)

In exactly an hour from now, I'm anxiously all set to see what Bayern do against Roma, and also have an eye on R. Madrid's game.

Nominated for goal of the week last week on goal.com. It lost to Carlos Vela's goal against Bolton, but personally I think Marcos Flores' goal was a more impressive individual effort Just like Mathew Leckie though, he'll probably be gone by the end of this season

Benfica-Sporting tonight! And I'm going, sitting in the middle of the Benfica official supporters, so I'll have to dress civilian and put on loads and loads of aftershave and perhaps some disinfectant - one of the conditions to be a Benfica supporter is to take a bath for Christmas and a shower for Easter, but some of them don't manage to do that.

I'm seriously stoked about the Tottenham vs Arsenal Carling Cup match, just four hours from now. I'm gonna go watch all the action LIVE. I've always loved these North London derbys, in any competition, anywhere....Although the Carling Cup isn't exactly a high prestige competition, Spurs have traditionally fared very well in it. And tonight, although it's highly likely that Redknapp will field a mostly second-string starting eleven for the majority of the game, I'm still really hoping that Spurs can outgun the Gunners, and win in some style. 2-1 to the Spurs , is my prediction.

a pretty weak Sporting side won 5-0 against a depressing Levski Sofia (from Bulgaria) team.

I wonder, why am I not happy about it?! Maybe because we're already lagging 10 points in the national league?!

Awful game against Portugal last night With the mistakes Christian Poulsen made, we should be glad that we didn't lose by even more! It's a pity though, apart from Christian Poulsen and Dennis Rommedahl we were actually playing decent enough football. Oh well, with brain farts of that caliber, we deserve to lose

On the positive side, it looks like we have a very competent replacement for the aging Thomas Sørensen in Anders Lindegaard. He had some fantastic saves and was blameless in any of the goals conceded against him. Rumour has it that Fergie is considering him to take over from van dar Saar in United.

Very true. I don't think we were terrible, but we certainly were a far cry from being any good either. With a bit of luck and without the huge drops from Rommedahl and Poulsen we probably would have managed to scrape home a draw (by the skin of our teeth!) Portugal was the better team though.

I'm curious to see where Lindegaard ends up when the transfer window opens. Apparently the talent scouts were out in numbers to look at him. Arsenal and Manchester United have expressed some interest, but so has Bayern Münich. My guess would be that he ends up in Bayern.

bloody hell, Sporting won 5-1 against a very weak Gent (Belgium; marvellously beautiful city, amazing density of gothic cathedrals and churches, cannals, and walkable) side. We're set to go on to the eliminating rounds of the Europe Cup, it's 3 wins and 12 goals scored in 3 games.

bloody hell - 10-man City beaten 3-0 at home by Arsenal.

The scoreline is maybe flattering, I thought City looked better for the first hour despite losing a man after 5 mins.

However, the Arsenal class shone out in the end. I have no complaints about the sending off either. So all in all, probably a fair result after all. Damn it!

It was a much needed win for us. I was a bit worried when Fabregas missed the penalty as I always expected you to score at some point. You looked very dangerous at 0-0 and 0-1.

Thankfully, Fabianski played a blinder today, I hope he can keep it up.

I was getting very annoyed at the needless yellow cards our players were picking up from clumsy tackles though and didn't expect to finish the game with 11 men.

It was one of those games - we got what we deserved... nothing!

I think your quality showed through.. it was a bit unfortunate we were playing against such a good passing side, as ultimately you really made the advantage count. I reckon a lesser side may have found us hard to handle.

What was good to see was the decent team spirit out of the 10 men, certainly didn't look like a bunch of strangers or mercenaries to me.

I have a soft spot for Arsenal btw, I always liked it when they won the league rather than any of the others in the last 20 years.

I couldn't catch the City vs Gunners game. But I did watch and sulk over Spurs fighting back to only draw 1-1 against Everton. Although the side is doing well, and positioned nicely in the table, I'm still feeling a bit frustrated at Tottenham's relative lack of goals (I'm greedy, ok ), and failing to dominate opponents and win more convincingly, overall.

This deflating share of the spoils with Everton, comes right after the crazy mid-week Champions' League tie against holders Inter Milan. Now, if the magnificent Gareth Bale had banged in one more, that would be the kind of 'draw' in a football match, I'd celebrate with some wicked glee.

Wayne Rooney's comical U-turn, apart, I'm still hoping Man Utd continue to slip up, every now and then, and fall off the pace, by Christmas. Damn the boy, Javier Hernandez---he ensured MU escaped another 'drawn' game curse, against a slightly unlucky Stoke.

Ady, and tanz, let's keep next week's Man Utd vs Tottenham game, firmly in our sights. Can't wait to watch that dogfight.

I haven't seen much of the Hammers this season, is the current position warranted or are there a couple of wins just round the corner? Early doors yet, a couple of win will see you fightin for Europe

Hmmm, we are inconsistant @ the minute, was a run of 5 unbeaten but Grant doesn't understand the lingo of "if it aint broke don't fix it" , can't see us getting out of trouble near future TBH, hopefully Cartoon Cole will grace the transfer window in January !...

    Welcome to the thread mate!

I follow Westham with some interest as they have 1.5 Danes playing for the club (National right back Lars Jacobsen and New Zealand deserter Winston Reid) I'd be curious to hear your opinion on those 2

Jacobsen has come into the side & is solid @ Right Back, @ the expense of Julian Faubert who tbh was improving as the season went on cont. from last, playing as an attacking Wing Back which i prefer as it creates crosses into the box, although we don't have a purist 18/6 yrd box finisher, Winston Reid hasn't been consistantly selected so not much can be analylised there.

The West Ham squad individually has talent, but the team blending is inconsistant...& if we can't score goals then expect the inevitable, our Defence is atrocious @ times, clearances & bringing the ball out to the Midfield & flanks, West Ham aren't (save Parker/Obinna) a physically strong side as eg: Bolton, & get knocked off the ball too easily, losing possession...

3-1 to the Irons V Stoke in the Cup, crap first half with Cole & Mcarthy reminiscing Abbott & Costello.

Parker, the introduction of Noble & Obinna second half changed the tempo & the attack/commitment...so still no strikers, & it took a Midfielder, Defender & a Winger to beat the gloves...

Well if the goals are going in it doesn't matter if the ball-boy is scoring 'em as long as they count! Nice win - Stoke are no pushovers

The goals should be coming from the strikers, that's what they are paid for & they don't come wage cheap @ prem. level, when i sit there watching error after error in the 18 yrd box, waiting until the 84th minute for a goal to come from a Midfielder, something 'aint quite right Lol!

Away to the Arse tomorrow...target practice @ the Emirates then, we'll see if the ammers gloves & defence have the minerals to deal the quick paced one touch onlsaught, Green is capable of pulling off world class saves...however the mind boggles !!!

Cool to hear. On the national team I always thought that Jacobsen was criminally underrated. He's rock solid and we don't really have anyone else at his level who can play that position, but the younger defenders like Simon Kjaer and Daniel Agger usually run away with all the attention.

Anyway Adelaide lost to Melbourne Victory the other night, thereby ending our unbeaten streak in the A League at 13 games (which is still a new record by the way). This also mean that Melbourne Victory are now 10-0 against us in the last 10 games we've played against each other. Not only that, but Melbourne Victory are also supposed to be our arch rivals. yesterday was almost a sweet day - Benfica were up 4-0 against Lyon, and then in the last 15 min Lyon scored 3 times! Another 10 minutes and they would have won the game - pitty it ended too soon!

going to the stadium now, we're playing Guimaraes who have the same points as we do. Whoever wins gets second with the same points as Benfica, and that's 10 to the leader Porto, already virtual champions with 1/3 of the games played. And a very strong contender to winning the Europe Cup.

Well at least we got a win at the weekend - failed to keep all 11 on the pitch again though.

This year I'm relegated to watching the Manchester derby on TV (it's on Wednesday night)... I'm gonna miss being there, but I'm still looking forward to it.

I'll be in Manchester the day after, seeing Jason Manford (comedian, for those outside uk)... a random ticket purchase friends made for me & the missus. Oh well, he's a City fan too, so I guess he'll be as miserable as me if we lose!

Great weekend for the Arsenal. I knew if we didn't get a third Everton would score, luckily it was late in the game and we held on for 2-1.

Well done Sunderland, what a win!

    Man Utd still unbeaten, just.
