    Default Who are these people?!

I'm still very numb from everything but I just can't understand how many Dio Memorial Service Programs are being sold on e-bay - 2 days after his service! They gave these out for FREE and for people to immediately turn around to make money out of them is sad. They are going from $20+ with or without the buttons that were also given out FREE. I know the economy is bad but if people had time to go to the Memorial they must be doing okay otherwise they'd be working or looking for work, right? Furthermore, I agree with someone else has posted in that EVERYONE I saw at the Memorial seemed equally distraught and devastated and they were all so respectful - they were coming to pay their own respects to a great man - I can't imagine any of these people getting extra programs to turn around and sell within 24-48 hours on ebay. So my question still stands, who are these people on ebay? I can't believe someone who cared so much for Ronnie's music would do this. On the contrary, no one is going to spend their entire Sunday in the LA heat as we all did and then get rid of their program, even if they picked up extra ones. I was able to take away 3 and if anyone on this Board would like one, the first 2 people who send me their address I will send out two of my programs and I'll pay the postage.

And most importantly, what disgusts me even more is the Tournado Box Sets that appeared on e-bay immediately after RJD died. It makes me so sick to think that as soon as his cancer diagnosis was made several months ago and these Box Sets became available that there would have been people that bought them and just simply waited for him to die so that they could sell them. I am so sad that people could be so cruel. Bad economy or not, I can't imagine how people can be this way.

I really would appreciate one. I was distraught when I didn't have the funds to go.

It's sick to see some people make money off of another person's death by selling something that was given to the fans as a gift on Ebay - if anyone who wasn't at the memorial wants a t-shirt, button & program the Dio website has them for the fans as a gift for when you make a donation to the cancer fund - from the website -

For those fans that were not able to attend the Memorial, we are now offering you a chance to get the "Stand Up And Shout" T-Shirt, Memorial Program and Official Button for a donation of $35.00 to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
The Shirt comes in sizes Medium, Large, X-Large, 2XL and 3 XL. Shipping in the USA is in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box for $10.70, Canada and Mexico is $26.95 and the rest of the world is $15.00.

Please make your checks or money orders payable to: The Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund" and send them to the Niji Entertainment Group, 12400 Ventura Blvd. #837, Studio City, CA 91604 USA. You can also use your credit or debit card via PayPal. There is a direct link on the homepage of www.ronniejamesdio.com that says "DONATE NOW." BE SURE TO SPECIFY YOUR SHIRT SIZE! Sorry, no small sizes available.

Same situation for me as well. I honestly would love a copy of the program from the memorial service. People know that there's fans out there like myself, who would easily spend money to get one and that's why they're doing it.

But if Dio's page is offering it I will go there and purchase it.

Mob Rules and SabbathFan78 - please e-mail me your addresses and I will send you each one of the two extra ones I picked up. I don't mean to detract away from the RJD Cancer Fund (I donated $25 and got my shirt), but it's only 2 programs extra that I have and they will be my gift to both of you. My e-mail is ktewari@uci.edu

DrTewari, personally I don't wish to have the program (I have donated to the Fund and will do again when they have the shirts available, I will not buy those that are showing iup on ebay at extremely inflated prices), but for you to give your extra copies just shows you are a kind person.

One of Ronnie's central lyrical themes was the capacity for both goodness and evil in all of us (i.e., heaven and hell are in the here and now, and it depends on what we do). This is an example of the latter.

Dr. Tewari, I wish I could say that I'm surprised by this behavior, but I'm not, as there are always circling vultures. I agree that it's unlikely that the people who are selling these programs on ebay to the highest bidder are doing so out of financial hardship.

As much as I wanted to be at the Memorial, the significance of the event and of paying my respects were the most important reason for me to be there, regardless of whether or not they were giving programs and selling t-shirts. Therefore, I would never buy any of the Memorial-related items, or the Tournado box set (though I would love to have one) from any of these vultures, and I sincerely hope that none of our fellow RJD/Sabbath fans will do so.

Once I get paid. I'm going to make a 20 dollar donation. I'd pay more, but I can't.

During the memorial I saw a woman next to me sending her boyfriend over to get another program as "they already know my face." She ended up with at least 6. Also as I was walking to my car the woman walking alongside me had at least eight of them in her hands. I knew full well that those extras would be on ebay soon. You know, there is a rampant lack of good ethics in our society that is just getting worse every year. Frankly, I feel sorry for these pathetic people, and trust me, by the looks of at least these two, they are pathetic people.

I can not understand the hipocrisy of these people. I mean where do they see the greatness in their acts? One day they're going to get their grandsons on their laps and say :"My boy, I once got some programs from a memorial and I sold them...all!" Pathetic.

I was thinking. Maybe some of these people were getting programs for people who couldn't go. Or like, their son, or friends, or something.

Maybe some of them were actually doing good, instead of bad. :(

Good point. That's something I thought of as well. If someone was gonna sell them they probably wouldn't have stuck around for the ceremony. I don't doubt that some weren't getting them to sell. But I think the vast majority of the people who showed up were there because they truely loved Ronnie. Most of those collecting were probably doing it for others who couldn't make it.

I think profiteering like this is dispicable. However, there is another perspective. Many Dio fans were unable to attend but would love to have the program for their collections. The secondary market allows the "real" fans to have what they want.

You guys really shouldn't sweat this so much. Yeah, it's distasteful, but I as a Dio fan would love to have a copy of the program, and I couldn't go to the service.

The seller makes, what, 30-40 bucks tops? That's 2 or 3 hours worth of work for a lot of people. Peanuts. If they want to make a couple of bucks, hey...it's the American Way, for better or worse.

I would hope that any Dio fan would donate to the cancer fund to get the T-shirt, program, & button from the website instead of giving the money to a 3rd party on Ebay. Just go to the Dio website - www.ronniejamesdio.com and click on the Ronnie James Dio memorial package link - it's only a $35 donation + shipping instead of giving a 3rd party the $30 - $40 on ebay

I just recieved the memorial program from Mr. Tewari. Possibly one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for this 20 year old.

It is absolutley beautiful, and I will treasure it for as long as I live. Now, i'm going to read it, and frame it.

Thank you, SO SO SO Much, Mr. Tewari!

I got a Tournado package unfortunately not signed by Ronnie. I would NEVER sell it, even if it was signed. It sits in my music room with the Rest of the things I got. The T-shirts, programs and pins can by gotten at www.RonnieJamesDio.com for a donation of $35 to the Stand up and Shout Cancer Fund set up for Ronnie. If your buying these on E-bay your getting ripped off.
