    Default Your Band "Bucket List"?

The other day RLP asked me in a thread; considering all my years of going to see concerts, what are some of my favorite bands I've yet to encounter live?

I answered the other day & went about my business. Just a few minutes ago I realized there are a fair number of others I forgot to list. I thought it would make good fodder for a thread here.

So who are the currently active (there are plenty of Fantasy Who would you have liked to see threads here already) Artists/bands, you haven't seen live yet, that you intend to see before you kick the bucket?

The ones I listed the other day -

    Rolling Stones
    Deep Purple
    Annotations of an Autopsy
    Decrepit Birth
    Hellstar

    I'll add to that -

    Fates Warning
    My Dying Bride
    Novembers Doom
    Anata
    St. Vitus
    Sceptic Flesh
    Aeon
    Bloodbath
    OHM
    The Legion
    The Gathering
    Muse

    Whats yours?

    Ones I've seen are:

Ozzfest 2005 (See list in Joe's site. Otherwise I've seen that with Iron Maiden opening for Black Sabbath with Ozzy)

Heaven And Hell Reunion Tour 2007 (Machine Head, Megadeth, Black Sabbath Mk. 4 (RIP DIO, thanks for the show.)

    Van Halen/Roth Reunion (Self-explanatory) 2007

Bands I want to see before I kick the bucket:

Slayer (Will be seeing these guys on August 20th with Megadeth)
Blue Öyster Cult (I was so close last year, but they canceled due to snow storm, damn weather.)
    Alice In Chains
Whatever Sammy Hagar is doing (most likely Chickenfoot, but I would like to see Montrose reunite.)
    Everclear

And maybe Huey Lewis And The News

Last two bands from my kid/teenager nostalgia years. I could list more, but I'll type them when I think of them.

Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

Very apt thread, at just the right time, dev. I'm glad that I had actually seriously asked you that question the other day. Despite being at numerous live concerts involving loads of my loved bands, in my life so far, I can't help but often think about the bands, among the currently active ones, that I still yearn AND still hope to see, someday, before I die.

Gosh, I'm gonna name the ones that immediately pop to mind; I'm sure there are several others that must be escaping my mind, right now.

    Nice thread, guys.

    Venom
(June 26th Nummirock Festival, at last! BLACK FUCKING METAL!!!)

    Tony Martin Band/Headless Cross
(One of the longest running wishes on my list)

    Axel Rudi Pell
(They've never played in Finland yet, I guess the fanbase is still so marginal here and the courage of the promoters is low...this is a magnificent band)

    Twisted Sister
(I had to sit out their 2006 appearance at the Sauna Open Air festival, likewise I had to cancel my participation twice in the late summer of 2008, I just couldn't pull it together)

    Bolt Thrower
(In 2006 I missed their only show in Helsinki - money & time - but Karl himself promised that they will return to Finland again)

    Doro
(She still rocks big time and looks great! Hope to see her one day...)

    Thin Lizzy
(I missed their 2008 appearance in my home town, it was just a wrong night for me)

    Nazareth
(I recently bought their legendary album Razamanaz, Snapper reissue 2003)

    Ratt
(They just had to cancel their appearance at the Sauna Open Air festival this Friday)

I've been fortunate to have seen most of the bands I've wanted to over the years bit a few I would like to see but haven't yet are

    Angelwitch
    Blackmore's Night
Tank (I know they don't have Algy any more but think it would still be interesting)
    Osaka Popstar
    Witchfinder General

Those are the ones that come to mind now - there are a few that I saw years ago that I would like to see one more time - mainly Raven & Venom
At least my hair is all mine, My teeth are my own, but everything else is on a permanent loan I'm on a low budget - Ray Davies

I've given this one some thought and I've come up with a blank. Like 'tom I've been around long enough & been in the fortunate position to see everyone I ever wanted to see...

But the cool thing is there WILL be! Last year I was desperate to see Chickenfoot... I saw two great shows in NYC...

That's the wonderful thing about music... Great new bands keep happening!

Slayer,(they ain't gonna be around much longer, if Tom's voice keeps blowing out. at least they bring it!)
St. Vitus(gonna see them the 26th)
    Melvins(the 7th)
    eyehategod
    Down
    Soundgarden mebbe
    Carcass
    Sepultura(eh, who needs Max anyway!)
Cavalera Conspiracy('cause he'sg ot his own outfit!)
    Electric Wizard
    Neurosis
    Sleep
    Testament
    Napalm Death
    Immortal
    Trouble
    Moss
    Candlemass
    Amon Amarth
Rush(fuckers 'r skippin' mah state dis time around!) Hope they won't on their next tour, because otherwise.....)

    Bolt Thrower
    Agoraphobic Nosebleed
    Cephalic Carnage
    Morbid Angel

That kind of does it for the bands that might actually tour over here. Certain British Doom bands(eg Witchfinder General) probably won't make it to the west coast, and others(Fear Factory) have gone in a crap direction as of late.

I saw Sepultura back in 1996, they performed on the main stage at the annual Nummirock Festival. For me it's one of the most memorable shows of all time.

I wish Sepultura reunited, at least for a one nostalgia tour. I know it would attract many old fans.

Hey, is that true? You still haven't seen Slayer yet? Time's running out, and you know it, too.

Melvins are mandatory viewing. I've seen them a bunch of times, so I know what I'm saying.

Re: Sepultura....most of us still need Max back in Sep. But heck, I like their stuff with Green, as well. and I sure liked their last 'A-lex' album. At any rate, Sepultura should be seen live, even today.

As for the two heavyweight champions of British extreme metal, I swear ND and BT are absolutely awesome LIVE, and if you're a genuine fan of them both, you MUST make sure you catch them in the flesh, at the very next chance that comes your way.

Other than that, Prog, I noticed how we have a bunch of bands in common that we both know we gotta see sometime soon.

(Fear Factory) have gone in a crap direction as of late.
Hey, that's odd to see. I reckon a majority of ex-fans that had turned their backs on Fear Factory, did so a long time ago due to feeling disgruntled about Digimortal-onwards. As for a big FF fan like me, I like all their albums in their own right (regarding none as 'crap'), but definitely felt that their latest Mechanize was quite a departure from their recent output, and is an extremely intense and listenable album.

Soilent Green - RLP, you're in for a great experience with them. My first exposure to SG was in a live setting in 98. Man I was utterly floored. The recorded output so far hasn't rivaled the times I've seen them live. Although they do have some good albums.

Van Halen (with DLR) Worth seeing for the music.

Twisted Sister - Simply a superb, stellar live band, Sabbathman. A TS show is always a great rock show!

Sepultura(eh, who needs Max anyway!) - Well prog, Andreas & Palo thats who. If you haven't seen Sep, ever then go. Although take it from me, Soulfly did better versions of Sepultura songs live then present day Sep. Anyway this band will eventually reunite. But see the current version since you'll be able to see them in a smaller place.

Slayer - as much as I don;t like their last few albums, these guys are a must live. Even in the 80's I wasn't ever that big of a Slayer fan until I saw them live. You guys planing to see them this year are in for a great experience.

Fear Factory - They were best live pre- Demanufacture. Although I agree with RLP about the new album. I dismissed some of it way too soon. Has some very cool moments on it. So I wouldn't mind seeing Gene Hoglan with them these days to see if it compares. Plus he's just great to watch in general.

    Slayer
    BEHEMOTH
    Black Sabbath (with Ozzy)
    Down
    Immortal
Bodom (for the fourth time, haha)

All I can think of at the moment.

I WISH I could say something like Darkthrone... but they don't play live, sadly. :/

The only active band I really listen to and haven't seen live is Black Label Society and I'd love to see them. I'd also like to see Motorhead, though I don't listen to them that much.

Well I can cross BLS off my list, seeing them once they hit the road in September!!

Yep. When they finally get this thing on the road I'll add it to mine too... Same with Slash's touring band with Myles Kennedy.

    • Deep Purple (even if I don't really see them as real DP, I'd love to witness Paice, Gillan and co. live atleast once)

    • Megadeth
    • Motörhead
    • Blackfoot
    • Lynyrd Skynyrd
    • Judas Priest
    • Budgie

    • Astral Doors
    • Queensrÿche
    • Masterplan
    • Spiritual Beggars
    • Overkill
    • Alice Cooper (will open for Maiden next week, so I can scratch him off of my list after next friday)

Considering how few concerts I have seen, I'm pretty lucky to have seen two of led sabbath's bucket bands, Govt Mule and George Thorogood. The George Thorogood was particularly cool, as a bunch of friends of mine and I went to the Harbor Restaurant here in Santa Barbara based on info that George Thorogood frequented the place and could show up and play. After hanging out for a couple hours and nearly giving up, George appeared, and played about a one hour intimate show with us sitting at a table no more than six feet in front of him. Very cool.

I have seen most of the bands I would like to see, so it is difficult thinking about who I'd like to see. Most are impossible, like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Here are ones I am thinking off the top of my head:

AC/DC - Heard they are not real good live now, but I feel I want to see them at least once
Journey - going in a month
Black Country Communion - They are awesome, and they have not played Detroit
    Eric Clapton

Sabbath (w/Ozzy, I like to tell people I've "technically" seen Sabbath when it was H&H )
Monster Magnet (it'd be a miracle if they toured North America again)
    King's X
    Fear Factory
    Godflesh
Bolt Thrower (see Monster Magnet's note)
    Napalm Death
    Trouble
Metallica (unfortunately missed 'em last time they came in '08)
Anthrax (saw Megadeth when they opened for H&H and will see Slayer in August so I just need to see the other half of the Big Four)
Devin Townsend (any of his various projects)
    Deep Purple

I would guess they would play a smaller venue like The Fillmore or Royal Oak Music Theater. I say that based on what their recent tour stops her in the US were at. Either way, coney dogs it is!

    Black Sabbath
    Candlemass
Daft Punk, if I get a chance in the future.
Death - There's the tribute, but not the guy who started it all. So, sad face.
Dio-Impossible now that he's dead. Otherwise he would have been my first option two years back.
Judas Priest - I should've bought that ticket from that one guy back in May. ffffuuuu
    Megadeth - Same as above.

huh; I've only been going to concerts for four years, but these are some of the major ones I've missed and really want to see--given current status' (i.e. no Sabbath without Ward...)

    Deep Purple
    The Rolling Stones
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Black Country Communion
    Slash and The Conspirators
    Judas Priest
Iron Maiden (came so close to seeing them last month)
    Metallica
    Gov't Mule
    Alestorm
    Soundgarden
    Chris Cornell
    Pearl Jam
Rage Against the Machines/whatever Tom Morello happens to be up to
    Of Monsters and Men
    Clapton
    Accadacca (AC/DC)
    The Foo Fighters

Those are just some I'd think would be awesome live and would snatch up tickets to in a heartbeat if the right opportunity arose

I'm seeing Anthrax and Slayer at Mayhem amongst many others at Mayhem, and Crue and KISS in September, so not including those.
