these records, the original CD releases, do show up on ebay, but you need some patience and wait for the right deal. Don't go after the first dodgy looking CD listed and don't overbid.
No, I know a few things.
That's a fair point, but I've seen people sell 'em on Ebay claiming it's some new remaster or something, and it's just the same disc that's been around for ages. Or worse, a generational copy.Agreed about bootlegs and counterfeits. Personally, I'd still rather pay through the nose (for an original) than waste another year not being able to listen to these classic records. It's only money after all.![]()

You wouldn't happen to have the japanese versions of Cross Purposes and Forbidden would you? I want those bonus tracks. I have Headless Cross and Tyr so I won't be needing those. Sorry.
I make the devil laugh and angels wail. Forever I will reside beyond the pale.
I also read that other thread concerning the Tony Martin era re-releases. It's a fact that Rhino hasn't done a good job when it comes to bonus tracks. I was really surprised when i read in a DIO tribute on a Greek Magazine that Dehumanizer had 3 more tracks recorded that weren't released (The Night Life, Bad Blood, Dream Killer).
Sanctuary on the other hand does a great job regarding bonus tracks (i don't enjoy the remastering so much though).
I've seen TYR and Headless Cross NEW in stores here, but i'm a re-release freak. I won't take something that could be re-released after 2 years and will have a whole bonus disc with unreleased material (that is if Sanctuary releases them).
I'm finding it extreamley diffcultI really want and need Cross purposes, Tyr, Headless Cross. Luckley i bought Eternal Idol today from my local JB HI FI Store for 18$! which was luck they've only got about 2 copies, i also picked Seventh Star from there. I got Born Again from there which wasn't hard. I wanna complete the Sabbath collection, everytime i go onto Amazon or something, and Headless Cross is there, i click on it and nothing comes up i need help anyone know where i can buy them in Melbourne? Would be much appreictaed

Just nabbed Cross Purposes off ebay for $5.99
All that is left is Forbidden which I may have very soon as long as I don't get out bid.
As for Cross Purposes Live? I'll leave that as an X-Mas gift from the wife I think.
I make the devil laugh and angels wail. Forever I will reside beyond the pale.
Any " main chain" cd stores that would have these albums? I saw Born Again for 15 bucks in Hastings, but I knew I could probably get it cheaper.
I got Headless Cross and Tyr on vinyl for under 20$ each online.. For CDs, I have no idea how to get Headless Cross for under 30$. (or any Martin besides for Eternal Idol)
I found all the Martin albums on CD for equal to 8.5 € each in a record store. I guess they have no idea how hard the CDs are to find ^^ so anyone that has the opportunity should look around in as many CD stores as possible, sometimes u r just lucky :D
Recently bought Eternal Idol on vinyl... but I need to find HC for a decent price...

I remember when I picked up Headless Cross at an fye music store at my local mall. I never had trouble with getting the albums other than Tyr and Forbidden but those were found soon enough.
Yeah, I only have Eternal Idol and Cross Purposes from the Tony Martin era, and got a live bootleg from the Martin era because most of them are cheaper than what Cross Purposes Live goes for on eBay and Amazon.
There's also a fairly common record label compilation of the Tony Martin stuff in the U.S. that I picked up, but the track selection isn't great. It does have Headless Cross and When Death Calls though, both of which are amongst my favorite Tony Martin songs.
At this point I'm waiting for the deluxe editions which are supposed to come out at some point, just because it'll cost me just as much, if not less, and they'll have an extra disc on them as well.
I bought all of the Martin era cd's in 2004; at that time they were all easy to get through amazon. Hopefully with the upcoming deluxe editions, they will be readily available again.
Hi guys, I see that a few of you are mentioning BLACK BOX III being released.......Which albums are going to be in that box set and when is it going to be released. In response to this thread....I have not been able to source TONY MARTIN's first solo album BACK WHERE I BELONG at all. Hopefully that gets re-issued sometime. Thankfully I have all his work with the SABS....definitely buy all of them again if they were remastered
I totally agree. It's really annoying that they are as hard to come by as they are.
I have Tyr and Forbidden and will pretty soon get my hands on Headless Cross (hopefully). Cross Purposes seems to be the hardest to come by. At least here in Sweden. I think I've seen it in a records store ONCE.
You just have to keep looking. They'll turn up soon enough.

I know a record store here in Stockholm that has Cross Purposes on CDAt least it's been there every time I have been there, haven't been there for a month now. Anyway they used to have all the Martin era Sabbath albums, but I bought some ^^ Probably gonna skip TYR and Cross Purposes though, I have both on vinyl so I'd rather wait for the deluxe editions until I buy them on CD (I will buy all the deluxe editions so... kinda waste of money to buy vinyl + cd + deluxe edition).
Oh btw, no they never had "Cross Purposes Live", only all the studio albums from the Martin era (though no studio albums from the other eras... very very strange...)

Okey, thanks for the tip man! What store was it? Maybe I'll check it out this weekend when I'm off to see Clutch.
So far I've gotten all my Martin-era albums from Tradera, Swedens Ebay basically, and I believe they're the originals.
I just got word that I won the auction for Headless Cross. It's the Classic Rock (or whatever it is called) release. But it seems just fine to me. It cost me about Ł13, and Tyr and Forbidden I've bought for even less on there, and they're the IRS ones.

The record store is called "House of Oldies", they got lots of 50s-70s stuff on vinyl, and then they got this CD racks with some strange forgotten albums, such as the Martin era Sabbath albums ^^ Kinda strange store. Though I have no idea if they got Cross Purposes left there, has been some time since I last checked the place out, I really doubt they will get any other copies in, so when that one's gone it's gone :D I'd rather wait for the DE copies honestly.

I was lucky enough to find Eternal Idol and Headless Cross on Vinyl in a local jumble store a couple of months back for Ł1.50 each! I also picked up Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers album, Elf's Carolina County Ball album and Jethro Tull's Broadsword and the Beast :D all at the same price.
If your out on a lonely highway, if you travel on a rolling light, don't come to me for comfort, i'm alright
I got my Headless Cross this morning. Fucking hell, what a beast of an album.
It is the Classic Rock Series-version. Don't really know what the difference is from other versions, besides maybe the liner notes and the fact that it isn't the IRS-version. Would someone who knows be kind enough to enlighten me about this? And maybe also what the hell this Classic Rock Series is all about?
Anyways, I'm just glad to finally have the album in all its Tony Martinesque glory.

I found the Classic Rock Magazine version of TYR used at a local record store for $5. I walked in to buy something completley different, and passed the Sabbath stuff just to see what was in, and saw it and practically wet myself. Now I just have to hope someone sells the rest to that store!
Personally, I'm just going to wait until the Deluxe Editions come out.
The only Sab studioalbum that I'm missing now is Cross Purposes. Really annoying.
And the only livealbum I'm missing is Cross Purposes Live. Equally annoying.
I guess I'll keep looking and hope I'll get lucky cuz I don't wanna wait for reissues that might be years away.

If i'm not completely wrong, i still got'em all in a box in my parents garage. The castle-com version of Eternal Idol, Classic Rock-version of Headless Cross, the rest originals... And i would'nt mind selling them at all, couse i don't like them and i need the money. But give me a month or two, i'm moving again soon and i'm going to take those boxes with me then and go trough them. I'll let you know...

Well this thread is just as good as any other to ask I suppose. Was Cross Purposes Live re printed in 2011?
I'm asking because I wanted to get one as a gift and found there:
http://allegro.pl/listing.php/search...cross+purposes
I'd say there fake but asking won't hurt.
I know its off topic, but does any one know more about these songs? I have Bad Blood from the Dehumanizer rehearsals, but I never heard it had been properly recorded (if that is the case in deed) and I never heard of the other 2 songs at all.
Dehumanizer is one of my favorite Sabbath albums, so any news are welcome.

I would agree that it is infuriating that we do not have easier access to Tony Martin era Sabbath. I have MP3's of the music from various places, but I would love to own all 5 of the albums. (6 if I could some how get the Live disc.) However it's not such a huge issue to me as I'm not that big of a fan of the music. I would like to know if there is any update on the Black Box III ordeal....
I have to agree with what everyone else is saying. You have to keep looking. I bought them all off Amazon for reasonable prices but it is possible to find them around places. If you happen to go anywhere that sells music, look every time because the one time you don't it'll probably be there and could disappear. I live in a smaller city so there aren't many places to buy music but I did manage to find a very good conditioned Cross Purposes over the summer at my local FYE. For only 5 dollars! I'm still always looking for backups of them. Persistence always pays off. Good luck guys!
Well, after some time I finally found a Tyr copy a few months ago. With that, I've completed my TM Era studio-record collection. It was a lot of fun hunting for those, even if it took me a few years. That doesn't mean I won't get the box set when it comes out!
Cheers, guys.

I don't wanna have to pay a fortune for Headless Cross and Týr. I have to get them for someone. I'm glad I was outbid on Týr on eBay 'cos it was from Ukraine, so it may be a pirate. If you're desperate, you could get that, but I wanna get the real CDs.
Perusing the local Hastings yesterday, and what do my wandering eyes see? A copy of Tyr for $8.49 -- Unbelievable! It's been just about two years since I lucked out and found Cross Purposes used at a CD shop ($7.99).
I'm not sure if I can wait another two to four years to get ahold of Headless Cross (why did I let my ex keep it?) and Forbidden, though.
i got mine on cassette for like 6 bucksi still buy cassettes if their is no better option i just love the sound quality
