    Default Dio inspires Ryan Adams

    http://www.nme.com/news/ryan-adams/51402

Ryan Adams writes 11 new songs inspired by trip to Ronnie James Dio's funeral

Ryan Adams has revealed that he has written 11 new songs inspired by his recent trip to Ronnie James Dio's funeral.

The singer-songwriter, who recently released "his first fully-realised sci-fi metal concept album" in the form of 'Orion', took to his Facebook page to announce the news.

"11 new solo tunes came out of nowhere," Adams said. "Day after Dio's funeral they just fell out. Soft mellow acoustic jams - lots of New Orleans scenery and vibe from the trip."

He added: "I am official[ly] very excited again."

Ugh... Ryan Adams... He's not allowed to like metal... Obviously just cashing in on Dio's death... He's a wanker... What's he got to do with Rock'n'Roll... etc etc etc.

Not really... Just thought I'd say it before the meatheads did...

I think this is great - not the biggest fan but I know he did a metal project - orion - that sounded pretty cool - here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBh4_...eature=related

I have no idea who this guy is but I know he's not the only one Dio has inspired and he won't be the last either. Also, Celt I know who Bryan Adams is as well.

Same. My older sister loves Bryan Adams and I had to grow up listening to it.

I heard of this guy, but never "heard" his material.

Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

yuuuuk just checked a random video on utube and this guy can't possibly have anything to do with Dio - no connection points whatsoever. He's a pretty boy cattering to easy listening shite sort of shite. It's a guy for the middle class moms to have wet dreams with while pretending they'd like their daughters to have such a boyfriend.

The point is not that it's not metal: it's that Dio has never made easy listening elevator lounge music.

I like Ryan Adams. Gold and Heartbreaker are both great records, but I have to admit I started losing interest when he did Cold Roses and I haven't heard anything he's done since then. I do wish he'd stop doing vanity projects like Orion and return to his roots though

My older sister listened to him too, and then he released the Reckless album my senior year of high school, which was huge commercially, making it, whether I liked it or not, part of the "soundtrack" if you will, of my senior year. So every time I hear "Run to You", "Heaven", or "Summer of 69", I think of my not-so-glorious high school experience.

I like Ryan Adams but I didn't know anything about Orion.

His roots are in alt country (more Johnny Cash than Kenny Chesney), and he did a good full-on rock album that Melissa Auf der Mar played on.

He has more legitimacy than that Canadian with a similar name that keeps getting mentioned.

Absolutely. he's been around a long time, keeps various projects on the boil and is a legitimate artist... And just because some can't hear the "metal" in it or Dio in his stuff... Really... who gives a shit? Some have already plead their ignorance & dismissed any link because his name sounds like Bryan Adams (hysterical, that hasn't been a joke since 1994 already ).

For all we know he could have grown up listening to rainbow, Sabbath & Dio... Just because you listen to "metal;" doesn't mean you have to make a career out of it.

Many people's first contact with Adams was this clip which was shot on 9/7/2001 and fast became an anthem for the people of NYC...

He was also in a great band called Whiskeytown before going solo...

I think he's a good singer but I'm not really a fan. "Sci-fi metal" made me chuckle though.
The dog's name is Pete. If he tries to mount you in the middle of the night, say "no" sternly. But don't look him in the eye.

It doesn't bother me if his stuff doesn't sound like Dio at all. I'm not dimissing any link because his name sounds like Bryan Adams. All I said is I don't know the guy and was just commenting about what Celt said about Bryan Adams. Also, you're automatically assuming that people didn't check out the links at all. Honestly, do you have proof they didn't at all and just decided not to comment right away?

I checked out the link you put up for "New York, New York" it's not really my thing at all. The song is OK but it's not something I think i'll ever get the craving to hear again. It's great that Dio inspiried him but just because he did doesn't mean Dio fans have to like what he does or for that matter even give him a chance at all.

^Agreed. Of course it's not the first time that DMC makes these kinds of remarks. For these kind of remarks from him, it's one big .

Sabbathman, I'm not assuming anything... When I said "link" I meant his "connection" to Dio, be it musical, spiritual or whatever... I wasn't implying that people hadn't clicked on the Internet link to check out his music.

Sorry, but if I haven't heard of Ryan Adams before, I certainly wouldn't be aware of the 'sounds like Bryan Adams' connection that hasn't been a joke since 1994. Sorry to have made you roll your eyes, DVC.

    Ah matey... No worries.

However, calling me DVC will get you in big trouble!

I read the original post once again and didn't found where it says that Ryan Adams is playing Dio's music.

Do you guys remember that this guy, Will I am (from Black Eye Peas) were at Dio's funeral? I don't like his music at all, but I liked the fact that this 'famous for whatever' persons, also showed their respects to Ronnie.

Nothing wrong about it. Instead, it shows us all how big has been and will be Dio's influence at the present and the days to come.

    Regards.

Was he really? The Black Eyed Peas played a gig in Portugal that night & another in England the next day... That'd be a hell of a trek... I think it's a 12 hour flight time from Lisbon to LA... Even taking the 8 hour (I think) time difference into account that'd take some doing...

I agree with the main theme of your post though, that Dio could/should/has generated respect THROUGHOUT the musical world...

I wasn't there, but I read that from several places. It really got my attention, since I know the group and the guy 'cause they're everywhere (t.v. radio, web), and had no idea he'll be a Ronnie's fan, even friend(?).

    Regards!
