As it seems, the album is now for sale in Europe and very soon in the rest of the world.
Taken from Babblermouth.netJORN LANDE Says He's Not Cashing In On RONNIE JAMES DIO's Recent Passing - July 6, 2010
Norwegian powerhouse vocalist Jorn Lande (MASTERPLAN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ARK, THE SNAKES) spoke to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine about criticism that his Ronnie James Dio tribute album has only been released now to cash in on the legendary HEAVEN & HELL/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW singer's recent death.
"It is a very sensitive matter," Lande said. "When Ronnie passed away so suddenly, It was decided that it would be worse to delay the release of the album by a few months rather than proceeding with the release as planned. By releasing the album as planned, it would be obvious that we didn't run into the studio to benefit from the situation, since it's not possible to make a good-quality album in such a short period of time.
He added, "Parts of the album were recorded last year, and some of the songs were recorded in October/November 2008. 'Song For Ronnie James' (which opens the record) was written in 2009 and recorded this winter. There are also a couple of tracks that were done in 2006/2007."

It is not a total disaster but it's a lame, below average cover album. Not good. Like a local tribute pub band releasing an album. He's a good singer technically but lacks personality and has no sense or feeling for the songs.
Or you could ignore the chessy, godawful (however "well meaning") "Song For Dio"... Look at the track listing & think "Great songs, written by... Oh look... Rainbow! Black Sabbath! Dio!... Do I really need a lameass, soundalike covers album or shall I go buy/listen to the proper versions?"![]()
I guess if I were a fully paid up member of the Jorn fanclub I'd be singing it's merits from on high, but let's face it, if RJD was alive, nobody would give this shite the time of day.

Well, the Nativity In Black albums for starters. But you'll know about them i guess. Metallica have made a couple of good ones, there was a "Kiss My Ass" fpr Kiss a decade or so ago which were pretty... ok... and then there are some Maiden and stuff out there as well which are uneven but with good high points but you've got a point, perhaps it's decent being a heavy metal (when it comes to other genres it's a bit different) cover album where all songs are recorded by one artist. Which says a lot about the over all quality of cover albums...
devilmaycare pretty much said it above.
Jorn Lande should concentrate on Masterplan, their latest effort is not at all bad.
It's not bad but... There is something in production I don't like. Besides, I always thought, and still do, that Jorn is better for Whitesnake tribute. He really nailed Coverdale vocals.

if you don't like it, don't buy it. Jorn is the ONLY legitimate successor of Ronnie, this is not a DIO album, this is a Dio tribute. it is more than fitting. the man has got the pipes. there's not adoubt about that. it is just a matter of taste. i believe this is more than just a attention-seeking album. Jorn loves Dio, i can say it. i know the man. this is a genuine tribute. nothing else....listen to his previous work. Jorn simply cites Ronnie in his work. Ronnie influenced him big, BIG time.

As far as the albums success been driven by the loss of Dio - that is an area of contention, as some people find it interesting to hear alternate takes on an artists music irrespective of the oringanl artists activity or health in the case of Dio.
Jorns effert was my second Dio tribute album purchase (the first being Holy Dio - purchased some years ago). The album is OK, with Sacred Heart, Night People and Kill The King jumping at me very quickly.
However, two things do irritate me with this album:
1) The production on Jorns voice is awful and really detracts from the music. His vocals on the "Straight Through The Heart (live)" and Letters/Lonely Is The Word are fantastic so why he had to stuff up the production on these newer recordings is beyond me. His vocals on his previous albums and recent live album only reinforce how good his voice can sound.
2) The guitars - there are three guitarists credited and not one of them really grabs onto the energy of the songs produced by Campbell or Goldy, which is a shame because the guitarists have shown their ability on previous works. On some songs they sound great but they simply are not up to par.
Other than that it would be the fact that it fails to cover it's principle of bringing obscure songs to the fore, overlooking Lock Up The Wolves through to Angry Machines completely. Too much Holy Diver sadly. Then again, there is always going to be debates over set-lists so I won't start there.
I would give the album 7/10. It is by and large enjoyable and emphasises the unique qualities and magic that Ronnie James Dio brought to the music. Jorns vocals though hampered by poor production are still great.
"But that is not the question. Why are we here, that is the question. And we are blessed in this, that we happen to know the answer. Yes, in this immense confusion one thing alone is clear. We are waiting for Godot to come."
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot

You kinda get the idea of what I like. I have ragged on Jorn. Hard. Ripped him to shreds. I might have even called him a poser.
CRAP
I have been "researching" songs on youtube. Found some old stuff I guess, not enlightened enough to really know much of his work. I have changed my mind and stand before you ready to take the s*it I probably deserve for flip-flopping.
IF...
IF he will submit to Tony & Geezer's experience and wisdom and become a part of a team. IF he doesn't get all damned corny/cheesy like I have seen in a number of videos and HEARD in those same songs. IF he sings inside the framework of what our lads lay down, this guy, MAYBE has a shot at greatness. He has the pipes, no doubt. IF he has the capability of staying strong, but not flamboyant... THEN and only then would I be willing to concede that Tony, Geezer, (Vinnie or Bobby Rondinelli) and Jorn could make something original, and maybe even fantastic.

I've never understood arguements like this. Why on earth is anyone gonna buy something if they don't like it? Also, Jorn is not a successor to Ronnie at all. There isn't one and there never will be a successor for RJD. That's one of the things that makes his loss so big to the music world and his fans.
Nobody will ever let you know

They just tell you that you're on your own

I finally gave this a listen. It's decent. Jorn sounds good enough but I don't see myself listening too many more times, if at all. It's just kind of...there.
I will say though, I LOVE the fact that he didn't do Holy Diver and/or Rainbow In The Dark and did a few of my favorites that fall under the radar. Night People, Sunset Superman, Lord of the Last Day...
There isn't much interpretation either. I prefer an artist to make a song their own if they're going to cover it. Either way, I've listened and that's that. Decent effort.
Oh, and the 'Song For'...WOW! I don't know if I cringed or laughed more. Jeez. Too bad, because the music is great.

That's a pretty ignorant viewpoint if you ask me. A viewpoint Dio probably would not endorse by any stretch if he were still here. There's alot of talent around, even if its not right at the top of the charts or readily apparent. Jorn is a good vocalist, I'll probably pick up one or two of his CDs someday but I wouldn't call him anything special so to speak. As far as stage presence he's not even close to what Ronnie was.
