Default Iommi guitar stolen at tribute gig

Iommi's signature cherry red gibson was stolen after the tribute gig. Someone stuffed it while his equipment was getting ready to be packed and took back to Iommi's home/studio

That is despicable. Not just that someone would steal it, but that someone would actually steal it during a tribute to Dio. I guess when you sink low enough, nothing is sacred.

I wish I could help, but I doubt it has made its way to Denmark, out of all the places. Still, if I ever run into it, someone will be getting their ass kicked!

This is awful, I hope they catch the bastard and get the guitar back!

Maybe the perpetrator will hand it back like the last time this happened back in the 70's. The guy who stole one of Tony's guitars had so much bad luck after that, he gave the guitar back. The story happened in Texas if I remember correctly.

Nah, it feels so good to play that I think I'll just keep it

But seriously, it's a really low thing to do. Gladly it wasn't the Old Boy, 'cause stealing that one would be sacrilegious.

What kind of piece of shit Steals one of his guitars, and especially when the guy is mourning and honouring his long-time friend and fellow muscian? Maybe it will just turn up somewhere? No way anyone will buy it if they know it's Iommis.

I didn't think it'd be the one that's in the photo in 'Latest news'. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was the one he uses for songs such as Mob Rules etc. In which case, it would have a tremelo arm on it. Maybe I read it wrong.

Wow. That is so messed up. That would break my heart if that was me. I mean, how long has he had THAT guitar? How many faces has it melted? And this person just grabs it up and boogies off with it...

    Outrageous

I think a statement like this would apply more to his Old Boy which he has used non-stop since about 1983. He's had that gibson for about 14 years now and while it hurts to lose any instrument I am sure if worse comes to worse gibson will make him another I'd hope but the best thing would be for the "original" one to turn up. I'm sure that Tony has made some fond memories with it.

This is just too low of an act. Tony wants to pay tribute to his fallen friend and this is the kind of bull he gets.

A heinous act under the circumstances, but I don't see how it could be anything but an albatross around the neck of the thief.

Terrible news, if i was Tony i would be upset, but i guess gibson or Jaydee or something could make him another, but still nothing replaces the first one! What a shame, that guitar has seen so many crowds, Donnington, just to name one... a sad day to the person who did this!!!

BTW This post has just made me reach 200!

This kind of incident must be an occupational hazard for these guys, but no time is ever a good time to have the tools of your trade stolen. The timing of this theft is what really sucks. Sucks dead bears.

My goodness...that is just low budjet! I would think his tech would be responsible for the guitars from the time they leave the truck, until they reach the stage and/or dressing room.
If the man is still employed by Tony, he must feel awful. You would think a nobody leaving the building with a flight case marked with Tony's or Sabbath's name stenciled on it would have been stopped by security, unless it was stuffed somewhere in the building to be grabbed later, or put into another truck/van.
Weird, as all you can really do is keep it in your closet or under your bed to gloat over in the small hours...you can't tell anyone or show them, as eventually word would get around and one day Iommi is at your door with the law!

Yeah I don't see what the person's motive was. Lets just hope the guitar turns up and this thief is brought to justice!

Whoever the puke SOB was who ripped this guitar off should get a punch in the face from Iommi himself...remember, Tony did boxing and judo in school and has given a few smart-arse critics a left hook over the years...
