I could only wish to quote some scripture from the great Gary Sharpe-Young Book "Never Say Die", that Black Sabbath at the time with Dio, they kicked out Robert Plant out of the dressing room when he called Dio a midget. So good for Iommi and group to put this guy in his place. You never see Tony bashing on Zeppelin, hell, Iommi had Bonham as his best man at his first wedding.
Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

He comes off as a major douche saying all that. It's funny that they don't have any Zepplin posters on the wall at Q!

Also Plant sounded like ass during their reunion show

Maybe some of the guys in Sabbath stole his woman or something Well, I've never cared of the man, I think he isn't a good singer, quite annoying voice actually and even worse live. But thats just my opinion, and considering I've never liked Zeppelin too much (always thought of them as somewhat overrated plagiarizers) I might be a little biased on this one
"The consequence of conscience/Is that you'll be left somewhere/Swinging in the air"-Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010) R.I.P. King Of Metal
"Just take a look around you what do you see/Pain, suffering, and misery/It's not the way that the world was planned/It's a pity you don't understand" - Geezer Butler
"If god is in heaven/How can this happen here" - Phil Lynott (1949-1986)

Coming from the guy who fronted the band (Led Zep) that ripped off more American bluesmen than any other band in history, this is a laugh.

I think that was actually Bonham in that particular dressing room situation, not Plant. Anyway is the thing we're talking about here the one around the 8 minute mark where he says "that they probably influenced a lot of people in Seattle"? If so, it wasn't much of a slam really. Interesting interview though and I kind of get the feeling that he'd say the exact same thing about 99.99% of Led Zeppelins peers.

Robert Plant slams Black Sabbath because hes jealous that they managed to create there own sound. Tell me Robert Plant, what the fuck have you done since Coda?! When Bonham died, was that your cue to Quit altogether? I have zero respect.

To be honest, he didn't really say anything that bad ... he just snickered and mentioned that Sabbath influenced a lot of bands in Seattle (which they did.) Zep influenced Hair Metal, so be it. A lot of people don't like Sabbath, especially people of that era, because Sabbath were/are so different than anything else that was going on at the time.

He's done 13 albums since Coda, many of which have gone either gold or platinum, so he didn't exactly quit all together. I have tons of respect.

The dude likes the hearts and flowers type of thing so probably doesn't appreciate the music of Sabbath or what was spawned by it. "Does anybody remember laughter?"

Love Sabbath and love Zeppelin for three decades. That said, I know that this is a Sabbath site, but no Zep fans I've known would post such childish, immature idiotic dribble as many of the posts in this thread. Sad, especially since both bands had a lot of friendship and respect towards each other.

later in the clip he goes on to say Bonham hated Sabbaths sound, which is total horse shit.

I've seen plenty of Led Zep fans doing just that on the ledzeppelin.com forum, especially when another musician criticises their favourite band.

Plant is still a good singer, and he's also still an arrogant idiot sometimes. Same old same old.

Our heroes have feet of clay. i've been lucky enough to meet a few notable individuals in my own lines of work. Some have been as cool as the work they produce, and some have taken up residence in their own backsides.

    Ok, you got me there.

I haven't been to that forum in about 5 years since it is 95% little kids posting nothing, but juvenile tripe. Royal Orleans is where all of the mature and passionate Zep fans have been hanging for the past 6 or 7 years.

You've never been involved with Zeppelin collectors when it comes to bootleg/ROIO trading then. By far the worst music community on the net. Childish, immature, idiotic dribble has been going on between certain parties in that camp for decades. So, I wouldn't get too carried away on how Zeppelin fans are saints...far from it.

Besides, most of the posts I've seen here have, for once, actually been quite respectful, and certainly fair.

Royal Orleans? You're kidding me right? We must not see things the same way then...

Robert Plant has always been Robert Plant, take it or leave it. I didn't consider it that much of a slam, and it's just one man's opinion. Who cares? Im sure Iommi doesn't like some of the bands some of us here like. Would we bash him for criticizing them? Probably not. The only way comments like that can get to you is if you let them get to you. Why don't we just forget about what Plant has to say about Sabbath, and just see what Iommi, and crew can come up with next.
Words laced with blasphemy, drip with sincerity. Falling into the plan, like sacrificial lambs. Hearing the words, and said rings like nail to the head. Now I can see the stars, I know we have gone too far.

hmm this matters about as much as Plants opinion of mustard.

How do you know that? I've heard/read that about Bonham off and on for 30 years, so I would tend to believe there's probably some truth to the notion that he didn't like Sabbath's sound.

Spicy Brown, or classic yellow? LOL (I prefer a good horseradish mustard myself.)

Hell, we have members of this Forum who pile on Black Sabbath. Plant has his opinion just like the rest of us.

Odd, that Ward says privately him and Bonzo would frequently gush at each others playing.

There is a bit in the Garry Sharpe Young's book where Zeppelin went to a Sabbath show during the Heaven and Hell tour and backstage after the show Bonzo is raving how fantastic the Sabs were...

Oh, I am very involved with Zeppelin collecting. That is an entirely different subject and I'm not sure, what type of collectors you are referring to. Some high end collecting (Beatles, Elvis, Hendrix, Who, Doors) choice items are frequently in the 10-50k range with many collector's histories going back to the late 60s / early 70s. Reputations and in a lot of cases (careers) are paramount.

I guess Planty got tired of slamming David Coverdale.

Speaking as a "like them but don't think they're as legendary as some do" type fan, I always rated Zeppelin behind Sabbath and Purple and I don't like Plant as a vocalist as well as I do Gillan, Coverdale, Hughes, Martin or especially Dio.

Rob, go on making country/bluegrass albums with Alison Krauss.

I also just read in Doom Let Loose how Bonham jammed Supernaut with the guys because he thought it was a brilliant song, so I find it strange that Bonham didn't like Sabbath.

I personally thought it was a pretty big slam towards Sabbath and you would never ever hear any member's of the original four make comments about Zeppelin like that. Quite a shame really. It was more about his facial expressions as well. You could just see the disdain on his face. Quit disappointing really. I am not a huge Zeppelin fan at all but I do respect them. Ozzy speaks so good of Plant and Bonham in his book. Man, does Plant come across pompous.

Bonzo and Bill Ward were good friends.

Wardy said that Bonzo would sit down behind Ward's double-kick drum kit and play it and would be jealous because "the bastards (the rest of Zeppelin) won't let me have a two-kick kit."

^^Agreed. Way to go not extending the 02 Arena reunion possibilities. And yes, those that disagree with me, I'm fine with that, but I agree to disagree in feeling that the old saying "shit or get off the pot" applies here.

I mean I kinda understand what he is trying to say but he needs to stop bringing it up...
Its obviously a little sarcastic, but not really funny?

I can't see or hear anything on you tube here at work, so I will have to check it out when I get home. But honestly who cares what Plant thinks about Sabbath. He is no different then any of us. His opinion is no more important then anyone else's. Not really a big deal to me. I still love their music and I still love Sabbath's music.

This is why I have no desire to meet any of my musical heros, or care what they say in interviews. They are just dudes or dudetts to me, no different from us. I'm sure some are cool and others are jackasses. I really don't want to find out who the true jackasses are.

Any British person using the phrase "soccer match" has got to be a bit of a dick...

It's acceptable for Americans to use the term as they are differentiating between US Football and Football.

What annoys me most about him is he thinks he's cool referencing 'Arcade Fire', 'Techno' and stuff like that. He seems obsessed with being perceived as cool. Which as we all know isn't cool....

Love (and I mean love) Zep as a band, but he's a bit sad really.

I can imagine that back in the 70's, the kids who had no independent thought process, had to constantly feel popular, and felt that teasing other kids would make them cooler listened to Led Zeppelin.... the kids who were not afraid to voice there own opinions, be different from the popular crowd, and weren't afraid to be themselves listened to Black Sabbath.

BTW, I don't hate Led Zeppelin. They are a good band! But Plants comments are uncalled for.

Just because he's had gold or platinum selling albums doesn't necessarily mean his solo career has been musically worthwhile. By that standard, Earl Stanley Gardner is one of the great authors of our age. I respect the solo work he has been doing over the last decade or so. Around the time he released Fate of Nations, he seemed to start doing projects for his own personal satisfaction rather than concentrating on commercial success as he did during the 1980's.

You're putting words into my mouth man. That post was in response to sn0wb1ind0zzy who asked what he'd done since Coda and if Bonzo's death was a cue to quit all together. I was just saying that he has done SOMETHING and a lot of it has been relatively high profile. Never once in my post did I comment on whether or not it was musically worthwhile.

My apologies. Upon my first reading, it seemed you were implying that the mere fact it sold well indicated he did quality work. In conjunction with the final remark about respect, the entire post seemed to judge the quality of his 80's albums based on sales alone.
