Default Drugs will make people do anything

Just heard that the bass player for Coheed and Cambria just got arrested for robbing a pharmacy a few towns over from me. He said he had a bomb and demanded oxycontin.
Then he took a cab to the Comcast Center to do a show. He was arrested on the tour bus.
    What a goddamn idiot!

I've heard that oxycontin was one of the most addictive drugs ever. I know that some pharmacies here in Massachusetts stopped carrying it because they were getting robbed so often.

I hope the guy straightens his life out and can get off of the stuff now but he could be looking at some serious time because they are considering it an armed robbery.

Death is big business! There's a lot of people using Oxy's to slowly kill themselves nowadays. Just wondering how long it'll be, till someone around here uses some of that "flesh eating coke".

Wow, I've never seen that story before. That kind of news should be spread alot better. Now there's a good anti drug campaign, if you use cocaine your skin could die. I've always been a believer of just say no, it's served me well over the years.

Check out this drug that got big in Russia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desomorphine

The street name in Russia is krokodil (Crocodile) and it is considered a cheaper alternative to Heroin. The drug is injected so quickly with little attempts at purifying it that it causes severe tissue damage.

One side effect from excessive, continuous use of Oxycontin is hearing loss. As far as I know its permanent. So perhaps the guy wanted to get really high, and at the same time drown out the hideous vocals of C&C's lead singer. .

Meh, I just think that drugs exacerbate our inherent personality ticks. If you're a jerk, an idiot, or a douchebag when you're sober, you'll be an even bigger jerk, idiot, or douchebag when you're drunk or high.

THIS (along with Joe slamming our newest Troll) are possibly the funniest things I have ever read. Just woke my wife up I laughed so hard... and my desk is 3 rooms away from our bedroom. Too damn funny. Thanks for the laugh.

I don't tell people how to live their lives, but I've seen drugs destroy too many, both that I've known and those I've admired.

I was not a fan of Amy Winehouse, but this young woman snuffed out at 27 by chemicals.

I do think there are degrees of abuse. I don't really think someone smoking a joint now and then is at the same level of someone doing crystal meth or shooting smack.

I never got into drugs, though I drank myself stupid until about 12-13 years ago. I'm a recovering alcoholic. I can't drink in moderation. Cheers to those who can...I can't.

A similar situation happened back in the '80s. Jeannette Frehley, Ace's then-wife, got busted in Connecticut for trying to pass a forged prescription.

I had one of my wisdom teeth out almost a year ago. The oral surgeon prescribed Vicodin afterward for the pain. It's a good thing he gave me a limited amount...I could have gotten to really like that stuff.

Humor aside, I am actually being serious. I think drugs will help people do anything, not make them do anything.

I've never met an imbecilic, shiftless pothead who, prior to lighting his first joint, was an intelligent, hard-working upstanding member of society.

My take on drug use is this (one of my personal mantras, in fact): Control your desires or they will control you.

Marijuana, like other drugs, is fine if you can control your desire for it. If you can't, the drug controls you and you end up like Amy Winehouse.

In my experience, drugs are a symptom of a deeper problem. People who aren't willing, or don't know how to deal with emotional pain, usually try to bury it by numbing themselves with drugs, alcohol or whatever's handy (glue, gasoline, video games, sex, religion, money), you name it, anything can be abused.

Dude who was dating my gf's sister for a short time just died the other night from an oxycontin overdose. Damn shame when someone that young (22) throws their life away. This town has a major problem with illegal prescription drug use amongst it's youth. You go to the bars in this town and people will try trading you pills for beer, it's fucking terrible what these kids my age and younger are doing to themselves.

you should really think about what Kaizer Nero is trying to say here... Drugs aren't evil in itself, it all depends on who's using them, and how they're beeing used...
for example, it's something to consider that the US, which is (if not one of the stricktest, then at least) very strickt on drugs & alcohol-politics still has the most problems related to such issues, while the netherlands, wich is alot more liberal, though having problems, they're not as serious...
Norway is one of the stricktest on heroin, still Oslo is Europas heroin-capitol...

Another thing to consider; we're gathered here on a fan-forum for a band of rock-history's most notorious drug-users, but they're still alive and kicking, and actually (mostly) in a real good shape...
In ozzy's case i will guarantee it was more the alcohol than the drugs that made him this way.. (as i've experienced myself..)

I interviewed a police detective captain about 20 years ago for a college paper I was doing.

He told me that even hinting that you have a weapon in committing a robbery makes it armed robbery, whether it's a cap gun, squirt gun, starter's pistol or none at all. He chuckled and said "many people that I've arrested for armed robbery have been unpleasantly surprised to find that out."
