I'm so stoked for this book. I hope he talks about his drug use, I've always been very interested in Tony's alcohol/drug use. The other members of Sabbath like Ozzy, Geezer, and Bill, they're all very open about their drug/alcohol use. Iommi has never denied using of course, but he's never really talked about his own experiences with drugs and alcohol.

For anyone that has a Kindle or reads e-books, when the book was first posted on Amazon, a Kindle version was not available, but I just check and it is now. Can't wait. And yes I'd love Tony's signature my Kindle.
You introduced me to my mind...
Just had the despatch email from Amazon ... might get it tomorrow.![]()
My name is Lucifer please take my hand.
I really enjoy the book. Well written. Maybe not super-revealing, but it gives a few laughs and some insights and fun and interesting episodes.
Does he talk about the other eras of Sabbath as well, not just the Ozzy era and early Dio era? Don't want any real spoilers just would like to know

He talks about them all, and compares them. I have a few pages left but it's chronological and I guess he stops at the present day.
I got really excited today when someone knocked on my door at 11.30 because I thought it was the mail man with my book. So I quickly jumped out of bed, into some clothes, and rushed to the door. Turns out it was just some guy named Paul who wanted to talk to me about Jesus. I guess I will have to wait till monday![]()

@ Totentanz...
I would sell 2 of my children to be that close to Tony. Congratulations!

I wish Tony could go anywhere remotely close to me! Man if I live anywhere within driving distance I would go! If only I could just jump on a plane or Tony could come to Australia!
Won't you help me Mr. Jesus?

From reviews I have read online, the book is kind of "meh". Has anybody here read it yet? Recommended?
I just finished it today and thought it was pretty good. Not nearly as good as I hoped it would be, but still worth reading. The narrative seems a bit disjointed and at times it seems like a bunch of anecdotes thrown into roughly chronological order. This is not solely a bad thing though, since it does make it seem more like it is straight from the horse's mouth rather than added to for dramatic effect by the ghost writer. It does however also leave some holes in the narrative, but if you have read other Black Sabbath biographies such as Never Say Die or How Black Was Our Sabbath?, you will be able to fill the gaps yourself anyway.
In short my verdict is that it is not the quintessential Black Sabbath biography I was hoping for, but still a must-have supplement for the hardcore fan. Anyone expecting big revelations in great detail will be terribly disappointed though.
just ordered my copy, honestly I don't believe the 70s part will be anywhere close to "I am Ozzy" since well... Ozzy is funnier (at least I think so). But I am very interested in the 1980-1995 time period and haven't read any other book about Sabbath apart from the first half of Ozzys book. Judging from Sir Kenneths comment, I shouldn't get my hopes up that high but... it will probably be worth 200 swedish kronor (20€). Arrives here in 8-11 days...

Where there a lot of other people there as well? What was the turn out like compared to Ozzy's book signing?

Since Joe never posted a review either I'm starting to get the same feeling. Too bad, Ozzy's book was really funny and flowed well..
There were a few hundred there, I can't compare it with an Ozzy signing as I've never been to one. I've met and chatted to Iommi a couple times (many years ago) without crowds around, and my impression at the signing was that he was less comfortable.
The whole set-up could've been more relaxed, was just my impression.

Went to Sheffield signing yesterday, about 250 there, pretty good turnout I thought, at the Ozzy one in Brum a couple of years ago there was maybe around 350.
Got my book signed, had a very brief chat and he shook my hand and thanked me for coming, and that was it. Gutted I was never allowed got a photo with him, glad I went though, just to shake his hand and meet the great man, but it felt like I was on a conveyor belt, handshake, quick autograoh, next, etc etc, security was way too strict as well.

It was like this in Brum too- I could understand it if there were thousands to get through, or if there was massive media presence, but it really could've been more chilled. It was slightly comical at one point to see the security guys create a human shield around him to prevent anyone taking a pic of him sipping water!
Don't get me wrong, it was great to shake his hand, exchange a few words and get the book personally dedicated - for that I'm extremely grateful. It was a long round trip for me though and I felt it just could've been managed better, that's all.

Wow, only a couple of hundred people showed up and security was that tight? Jeez, when Ozzy came to NJ last year there must have been at least 1000 people and the only security was 1 local cop who stood nearby. When Heaven & Hell came to Vintage Vinyl shortly before Ronnie died, the turnout was maybe half of what Ozzy's was, and that was with all 4 members. I don't think a Tony solo signing is going to attract a lot of people in the US. It will be interesting to see if security is still as tight..
I'm enjoying the book so far. As someone has said already, it's not as flowing as Ozzy's book. But good to hear him finally tell his side of things. I'm disappointed someone hadn't corrected a few things before print though. I'm a stickler for correct dates. Well not even dates really. Getting the year right would be a start. One to mention is that he tells of the recordings of 'Live at Last' concerts being in 1975. Wrong. You'd think that someone in the know could have corrected these little things before going to print. I understand that he personally may not remember all the dates of everything he did. That's fair enough. But someone must read it before finalizing everything surely? Just a minor thing I know. Nonetheless, enjoyable so far. Half way through.
I'm not thinking of the narrative, just the writing skills. It's a professional. He or she knows how to keep a reader interested, only keeping the necessary, not writing long unnecessary complicated sentences etc etc. Basic proffessional writing rules. having said that, i can agree with that it's not being organised in a specially thrilling or brilliant way. It's more like little newsarticles one after another, some of them were pretty boring, most of them were ok or good, but always well written. I have actually forgot most of "how black.....", but i remember I found it a bit hard to keep up my interest, even though the stuff was interesting.
I really enjoyed "How Black was our Sabbath." Good read, lots of cool never before seen pics too..![]()
Maybe he received a death threat no one knows about that maybe the reason for the tight security. After all someone did try to take his life some years ago. Least we forget what happened to Lennen and Dimebag. I didnt know it at the time but i went to see Page an Plant at the palace of auburn hills back in 94 and someone tried to stab Page on stage till security jumped him. You never know.
