Funny stuff (those who speak German just turn the sound off & read the captions).

Thanks for the link...took a while to find it (a long while actually but luckily there was a search option at the top)...

I listened through it and all I can say is...holy moses....that was pretty damn awful...just awful. There were couple of the longer songs I just didn't have the patience to even listen all the way through... Lou Reed doesn't really sing anything he just talks... I suppose that would be kind of cool for a track or two maybe, but since the same thing pretty much goes on every single track it gets tedious really fast. Musically there are couple of songs that start off okay like Pumping Blood and Iced Honey, but as soon as Lou Reed starts his one act show it takes a turn to the worse.

I think these songs would work much better if they would be 3 to 4 minutes long and have some actual vocals instead of talking...but now they are just terribly over long and tedious and lackluster.

And do I even need to mention the cover art...Well atleast the quality of the music matches the quality of the art....so I guess that's something.

Yeah...I know I came off bit harsh after just listening to one song, but sometimes that's enough. But naturally I should have waited until I heard the whole thing. But now I have.

Shure, i agree with you on that, but i still advice you to listen through the album a couple or three times more before you dismiss it. This kind of "art-rock" can sometimes be a hard nail to get trough, i myself had to listen to David Bowie's Heathen over and over again (and then some) to get the point, and now it's one of my favorite albums...
And let's face it, this is "art-rock". It's more Reed's project than Metallica's. And after all, Reed is the father of "art-rock". (i'm not saying this to you directly as much as to anybody who's willing to listen.. :-P)

But if you're not that much into "art-rock", then maybe you should'nt give a damn...

I saw this some time ago, extremely funny clip! But then again I have yet to encounter a bad "Hitler reacts" video - it somehow works every single time

I tried it.... almost crashed the car trying to get it off the stereo!! It was garbage!! I never read the press, I thought it was more of a collaboration. IMO Lou Reed is as awful as always. (I've always seen him as over rated - i just don't get him) Metallica didn't do themselves any favors with this. I immediately put on Megadeths Th1rt3en to cleanse my ears!!

I will admit that I have only heard two songs off the album. But come on. It's ridiculous. Just when you thought Metallica couldn't do anything worse than their live-performances. Like a buddy of mine said: Life is like Metallica. It can ALWAYS get worse.
Come on. Just stop playing music. For everyones sake.

dunno if id go that far, their own stuff (not forgetting reed wrote this) is half promising of late. just think they could do with remembering why they play metal. cos of bands like sabbath, maiden and nwobhm stuff. just write some riffs and remember what metallica is, no ones expecting lyrical genius, just listen to battery for example

That vid is great, and so true!

My dad recorded Metallica & Lou Reed doing a couple of songs on BBC TV (Jools Holland's program) and we watched 'em this evening. It was shit and frankly a bit embarrassing. Reed just looked like a guy who really didn't know what was going on. Metallica gave a professional account of this shite music and seemed to enjoy it - god knows why. Coz it was piss-poor. Looking so happy just made them look deluded - or was the whole thing done through gritted teeth?

Sometimes weird combos just work, and they're all the more special for being a bit out there. But this sounded like Lou Reed singing shite songs with Metallica. No offence to fans of either (I'm a fan of early Metallica myself).

The whole here is far less than the sum of its parts. Sad but true.

Suprisingly enough the album has been a lackluster as far as sales go *sarcasm-mode off* Lulu only sold 13 000 copies on it's first week in USA, and didn't fare too well in Europe either.

I was a huge mistake on their part to release any singles or snippets of the album

Hell they ended up letting you stream the entire album before it came out. I've also heard rumor they are thinking about going in a direction like this for the next Metallica release. Unless they want to drop another St. Anger and have a seriously pissed off fan base I genuinely hope they rethink this and make another album like Death Magnetic.

Oh and on another amusing note... the new Megadeth album beat this in sales. I bet Dave Mustaine is ecstatic to have finally out sold a Metallica album. And rightfully so since Th1rt3en is a damn good album versus the pile of shit that Lulu is!

That "disappointing" sale figure is apparently enough to land on the Billboard top 40.

Lulu is the worst album I've heard in my whole life, no fucking joke. And this is coming from someone who had to endure the flub-up that was Morbid Angel's newest album.

    Bought it

Played it twice in the car

Winged it out the window like a Frisbee

Should have known better than buying, a crap combo

And I think Reed a genius and Met still occasionally great
