Aren't you from that band that stole the riff from Who Are You?

Stole, borrowed, what's the fucking difference? Blues & Rock is built on borrowing riff's from each other. What would Zeppelin be without Dazed & Confused, man?
I think that track Icy Sun put out here where Dragonauta use the "Who Are You"-riff fucking rocks. The bad thing (for me) is the stupid name of the band...

What you call "borrowing" in these cases I call plagiarism, and to me it's the lowest thing a musican can do to another. Zeppelin stealing Dazed & Confused from Jake Holmes is one of the vilest thing's I've witnessed inside the rock genre.
It's completely understandable that you come up with a riff that bares a striking resemblance to some other riff, in most cases it's completely accidental. But it's a whole different story when the riff/melody or whatever is exactly the same as the original one. And no, I'm not saying that using the riff from Who Are You? couldn't have been an accident on Dragonauta's part, but I highly doubt it was. But defending this "theft" as a rightful action is wrong in my books.
But I do agree with you, the song is good. I even prefer it to "Who Are You?".

True, but it's very much different to use a basic blues chord progression than stealing an instantly recognizable riff or melody line. Basic rock & roll and blues were build around the 12 bar blues progression, to which people would then add their own flavor with vocals and lead parts. It's virtually the same thing as using a basic 4/4 drum beat, it's a norm that musicians use in their songs. As much as metal music owes to early blues, the genre's aren't exactly comparable in every aspect.

There are now a hundred and one artists who rip off black sabbath but they are pretty open about it, I think as long as this is the case its fairly ok. nearly all doom bands might aswell be black sabbath cover bands,
Dragonaut is a song by Sleep.....another black sabbath rip off band.(btw dont get me wrong.. I love sleep)

I wasn't saying there's as much "borrowing" in metal as there was in blues, or that they where comparible in any aspect. I wasn't trying to say what's "wrong or right", i was simply stating music-historical facts.
When these things have happened in socalled "rythmic music" (jazz, blues, rock etc) for atleast a hundred years, why get so hung up on this one more band doing it..?
Blue Öyster Cult said the main riff from Cities On Flames With Rock & Roll was taken (influenced) from Sabbath's The Wizard, and the chorus-riff from King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. You think Sabbath and Crimson should get creds for that?
But i do feel Jake Holmes should get his share of a writers-cred, though, since it was actually a whole song that got stolen, not just a riff or lyric-line...

I know i didnt realy mean it in a derogatory fashion, all i tend to listen to is doom, its abit of an on running joke now that its composed of purley sabbath rip offs. nearly every review I read for a doom band will mention black sabbath at some point.
I can see the difference between rip off and heavily inspired....however if you listen to Down's "Loseing all" and "Pillars of eternity" you'll hear some absolute sabbath ripping off. but I dont see it as a bad thing as long as the band acknowledge it...... which zepplin never realy did.
