To be fair I don't actually hear it that often, but I've never heard Sabotage once, so I picked that one along with my own opinions. Also I have heard Smoke on the Water on the radio a total of 3 times in my life, maybe I'm just lucky and it still has a charm (As long as some ass isn't playing it because it's easy to learn and all that.). Stairway I have always thought was epic in it's own right, but I have a bit of biased against it since some people think it's the only good Zeppelin song and disregard the rest of their career because of so.

Don't get me wrong, i love both Smoke On The Water and Stairway, i just used them as examples of over-played music.

If you never heard Sabotage you should really get of your ass and check it out, as it's one of the best Sabbath-albums.

Oh I wasn't trying to say anything bad about them, I was just stating my personal experience. With Sabotage I meant simply I had never heard it played on the radio as compared to Paranoid and I couldn't really decide between the two since I love both, but I figured Sabotage still had a little more magic since it hadn't been overplayed, so sorry about the confusion. No way I would be on here without listening to Sabotage and the rest of the albums at least in some form.

Sorry for misunderstanding about Sabotage. But, yeah, my whole point these last posts has been; Paranoid (both the song and the album) has been overplayed for a reason, because it is a fucking great album (and ofcourse with the song itself, War Pigs and Iron Man probably somehow being more "radio-friendly"). And as die-hard Sab-fans have been overfed with the album, it's reasonable enough many of us, including me, prefer Sabotage.

Strange really, since Am I Going Insane is a much more radio-friendly song than any of the above. But then again, Sabotage never gained as much mainstream popularity.

But, as i have stated before on another thread, if i had to choose the ONE favorite Sab-tune, it would have to be War Pigs, even though the album itself probably just end up at a tied 5th favorite with SBS, or maybe even 6th of the eight albums...

Saying that about the band that invented heavy metal and doomy rock is pretty insulting to say the least...But then again I suppose if you call your self an NSD mega fan I suppose comment like that is understandable!

I chose Sabotage, but it's a close race between that one and Black Sabbath for me. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is also really close. Never Say Die! is the most underrated, IMO.

Wow! Technical Ecstasy got a vote

Granted it is a great album in my opinion, but I love all the Ozzy Sab albums. In fact I love most of what the band Black Sabbath have done but Ozzy will always be number one with me when it comes to singing. Though I really love Dio and Gillan too, there is just something about the four originals that is transcendent.

I'm also surprised to see it finally get a vote. To me it's always been a great album and was in fact the first full Sabbath album I owned, I adore it for that reason alone. However after listening to the rest of their career, it doesn't hold up as well as I would hope, so it couldn't exactly beat the likes of Sabotage for my favorite. I don't know if I would say it was better then Never Say Die, both albums I think have their share of amazing and low moments. You Won't Change Me is one of my favorite Sabbath songs ever, but still. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it is better then all the other Non-Ozzy era Sabbath albums. It is very true the original line-up had magic, but to me at least Heaven and Hell has to be up there with those albums if not better then the last 2. I could say that all the other albums except Seventh Star and Forbidden give those last 2 a fun for their money as well.

As for the Rick Rubin quote, that sounds great, I would rather the band just sit down and write an album rather than try for some big thing. Whatever comes naturally I think would produce one hell of an album. Then again I could also see some huge concept album working out too. I don't know I'm just excited for a new album with Ozzy

That is probably one of the most difficult questions in the world. The first four is pretty much equal, with SBS and Sabotage trailing close. But my choice is Vol. 4.

Voted the debut. But actually for me it's easier to name the least favourite - it's Paranoid. Don't understand the overhype around it.

I'm gonna go with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath; it just had this strange, doomy but very interesting atmosphere to it.
Otherwise, I'd go for Master of Reality and Black Sabbath.

Sabotage for me. Just love the album start to finish, better than the other 7.

Friends, bit surprised at Paranoid's low showing.........could be overexposure, but- War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, Electric Funeral? And the rest of it's hardly duff..........surely one of The Great Heavy Rock Albums Of All Time..........remember coming home from school, I was 11 or 12 I suppose, my brother had borrowed it, there it was on top of the record player [remember those?], looked at the cover, curious, put it on, the needle clicked into the groove, little bit of rumble and crackle like there always was, and then.................... WWWHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM.................the heaviest sludgiest slam-you-against-the-wallest E power chord in the known universe..........

Sabotage might not only be the best Sabbath album but it might be the best album by anyone ever.

I often find it quite odd that Sabbath never released a "official live" album prior to the unofficial "Live at last" album. We are all thankful that there many good bootlegs out there, yet it's a shame that many are not of high quality like they should be and as Sabbath should be heard.

Well SBS and Sabotage are both tied - that is not much of a surprise to me as those two are my favorites as well. Now NSD has three only - now that is a bit of a disappointment considering how good the album really is. And we still have only one TE fan, but I suppose that is to be expected as it really is the weakest of the bunch (IMO). I am also a bit fascinated that Paranoid did not do better - just heard too many times I guess.

Well said! It was my first album so it holds a special place in my heart. But Master Of Reality runs it a very close second, for Iommi's guitar sound alone.

A long time I thought about this, because to some extend I would say "Master of Reality" but also "Black Sabbath Vol. 4"

And at the end I decided that "Black Sabbath Vol. 4" is my favourite, because at the first time I listened to "Supernaut" it blew my mind^^. No really I fell in love with this Song. And also the Song "Wheels of Confusion" the ending it is so great stuff. Tony Iommi is a god on this album and then Ozzy and of Course Bill and Geezer. I totally fell in love with this four guy's.

103 votes so far - that is a lot more than I was expecting! Now Sabotage is in the lead - I guess it really is the most popular among die hard fans.
My beloved Sabbath Bloody Sabbath has retained the 2 spot so I am glad about that.

Definitely a hard one to choose, but I think I would pick Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, it has a bit of everything and is when they were at the height of their experimentation during the Ozzy years. Honorable mentions would be Sabotage and Master of Reality, though in my opinion there isn't a bad one in the bunch...some better than others, yes, but none that are terrible.

    I'm going though Changes...

I originally preferred Sabbath Bloody Sabbath because I felt that it was like eight songs that got progressively better as the album played and that it felt the sound was most like an escape into obscurity for me. Then Volume 4 was my fave, because of so much variety and I thought it even sounded to me, a bit campy.

I picked Sabotage because I feel that it's like an album and a half. A lot of good long super-songs, each blowing me away.

I can't bring myself to pick TE or NSD. They got a few votes but I'd like to hear more from people who prefer either of those.

    Fate chose Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Well the 2 best are now tied Edit/: Now Sabotage has taken the lead again....

...and MOR is solidly at 3rd and it is great that Never Say Die got some more love. It will be interesting were the new album would place in such a poll when it is released into our eager hands/ears.
