Default New DIO releases: CDs, DVDs, box sets

DIO: Newly Remastered Edition Of 'Holy Diver' Coming This Month - Jan. 1, 2012

    http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=167814

Audiophile specialty record label Audio Fidelity will release a newly
remastered edition of DIO's classic debut album, "Holy Diver", in
January 2012 as part of its 24K Gold Compact Disc series. This new
edition promises to be a significant sonic upgrade over past releases
of this timeless debut due to the use of the original 1983 Sound City
studio analog 30 ips AES half-inch non-Dolby original stereo mix tapes
along with the mastering expertise of renowned audiophile music
restoration specialist Steve Hoffman. Most previous releases relied on
    post-EQ'ed cutting tapes.

RONNIE JAMES DIO's Widow To Re-Release Eighties Metal All-Star Project
    HEAR 'N AID - Nov. 1, 2011

    http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=165484

On May 20 and May 21, 1985, 40 artists from the metal community
gathered at A&M Records Studios in Hollywood, California to
participate in the making of a record called "Stars" as a part of a
very special fundraising project spearheaded by Ronnie James Dio known
as HEAR 'N AID. The "Stars" single and a video documentary on the
making of the record was used to raise money for famine relief efforts
in Africa and around the world. These 40 artists — including members
of MÖTLEY CRÜE, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, QUIET RIOT, TWISTED SISTER,
BLUE ÖYSTER CULT and even SPINAL TAP — along with hundreds of other
volunteers, donated their time and talent over four months to make
HEAR 'N AID a reality. "Stars" was a plea for unity in the fight
    against world hunger.

Due to contract differences with the labels, the "Stars" song and
album weren't released until New Year's Day, 1986, and were only ever
made available on vinyl and cassette. But Ronnie's widow/manager Wendy
Dio wants to fix that. "I'm going to re-release ['Stars']. So it'll
come out on DVD and CD," she tells RollingStone.com. "I have loads of
    outtakes for the video."

Sweet. But I'm confused. So this announcement is only for Holy Diver being remastered/re-released and the Hear N Aid thing? Not for the rest of the Dio discography to be remastered/re-released?

Pretty nice, but it is strange since Holy Diver is the only DIO album that has already been remastered...

But I'm sure that this is just the first one and that they will go through the entire catalogue eventually...hopefully soon though.

I just gathered the latest new Dio releases here, Holy Diver and Hear 'n' Aid, which I couldn't find here on the forum quick enough. I'm hoping to have a permanent thread about new Dio releases here.

I'm still looking for these 2 albums to be made available too...

The ones mentioned as coming in November obviously didn't. They're in the spring now. Those are from Universal, and I'm fairly sure are non US releases.

The single one mentioned is NOT by Universal - something completely different, and to be honest, might be the one to get based on the story and the remastering and all that.

I would love to see Dio's entire career remastered seeing as the albums are either held high and easy to find, or buried in the ground and forgotten. Holy Diver, The Last In Line, and Dream Evil are generally held high, while the rest are missing it seems whenever I'm hunting for Dio CD's. Strange Highways, Sacred Heart, Lock Up The Wolves, Angry Machines and Magica seem generally hard to find to me. I only own Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Dream Evil, and Angry Machines (Found it at a yardsale ) , so this would be a great opportunity to get those that remain. On top of that from those I own, I think a Remaster would fit the albums very well seeing as they aren't mixed or produced exactly brilliant.

I once had the VHS tape of hear N aid, with the documentary, & the music video on it.
the doc was cool in that it showed most of the guitarists laying down their tracks, & the singers as well.

I remember Smith/Murray from Maiden, even Yngwie showed up (ego checked at the door).

I remember Halford & Geoff Tate were among the vocalists.

I'm hoping sometime in the near future all the Warner Bros. Dio albums will be released as a box set RM.
hopefully Rhino records will do it. The Sabbath boxes they put out were awesome!

I'd like to see that footage at some point, do you remember what it was called? As for the box set, I completely with you on entire box set of Dio's solo album career, and live albums would be a nice treat to include if it wasn't too much of a problem.

I wonder if the "Sacred Heart" 2CD edition is worth it only for the "Hide in the Rainbow" track. Or I could just track that one down on EP... :D I also wonder if any of these will be released on vinyl, something tells me they won't, which is why I probably won't get them. Oh well, we will see ^^

The best thing about Hear n Aid, besides Dio's singing of course is the amazing collection of guitar solos in the long version!
