Default Tony Iommi has Lymphoma Cancer

With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan--the “IRON MAN” of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

This comes as Black Sabbath--Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums)--are writing and recording their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles (still set for release this fall) with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the UK to continue to work with Tony. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

Very upsetting news, but at least it appears that they found it early. Worst possible timing, though!

I wish all the best for the greatest guitar player in the world! I'll send positive energy every day and hopefully he'll beat this thing! We just can NOT loose yet another great talent to the big C!!

Dreadful, deflating news this. Sadly, early detection isn't always the boon it's widely believed to be. It really depends on the specific type of cancer involved, and the specific state of the disease in the affected individual. I really hope that in Tony's case, the early detection proves to be helpful---but most important will be the decisions taken by his doctors on the most appropriate and effective line of treatment that Tony needs, and the prognosis of any such intervention in his case.

All that said, I obviously hope that the living legend and our guitar hero pulls through this distressing health setback, and is properly healthy again, in the near future. Let's pray that the new Sabbath album will coincide with a Tony Iommi free of cancer and back to rude health.

Unbelievable. This is horrible news. Put the new album on the back burner, I want a healthy Tony first. Get well Mr. Iommi.
Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

I'm praying to God that Tony recovers from this, not only for the upcoming album and tour, but for normal life itself. Hopefully the doctors will be able to make this go away as soon as possible so that nothing gets cancelled and so that Tony can continue his life without this cancer.

Tony has given us all so much great musical wonders, he's still got so much to do and live for. The new feverishly anticipated album is in the works, the upcoming world tour schedule is like a treasure trove to countless people all around the world. Tony deserves to have it all and we deserve to experience the presence of his musical power.

I want Tony Iommi to recover from this and

I'm in complete disbelief right now. This is definitely one of the worst things I've ever woken up to. Get well soon Tony! You are in our prayers. The Iron Man will get through this. I agree with 8bit fighter, until the riffmaster is back in good health put the album aside. Tony's good health is more important than a new album.

Joe, would there be any possible way to send Tony a giant get well card or something along those lines from everyone here on the forums to Tony?

Horrible news. Along with everyone else I send my very best wishes to Tony and his family.

Hopefully working with old friends on the album will be a tonic for him, but ultimately I hope he puts his health above all else.

Take care Tony - beat this, get well soon.

I had Lyphoma in stage 4!!!!!!!!!! I started taking chemo in Dec 28 2006!!!!!!!

On into the next year. I never lost my hair. I actually played several shows with it and while taking treatment.

I still take nerve pills and pain pills due to the damage it caused to my body!

I just went to my cancer doctor last week.
I am well at this point. I have another ct/scan on (9/11/12)

Tony is alot older than I was. I was only 32 when I came down with it.

    Get Better Tony,

cant believe it. the timing in relation to the reunion is just awful. 10 years of back and forth and definately maybe and 2 months after uniting, this. WHACK. Of course this should be the last thing on tonys mind, just wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Fingers crossed that Tony will make a swift and full recovery.

It's ironic that a few weeks ago we all thought that Bill's health might be the weak link in the reunion, just goes to show that as we get older health problems just seem to be around the corner.

I just hope and prey that this is a minor episode in Tony's story.
