    Default Fretless guitars

Anyone got any experience with it? I love playing fretless basses, but i've never tried a fretless guitar.

I've got this shitty Probe strat-copy, my first guitar, which i bought from the guitarist in a band i was in when i was 15-17 (i played drums, mostly) for 170 $, way overpriced.
I've been thinking about rebuilding it. Taking the neck from it (which is pretty decent, actually) and the electronics, but buying a new body, possibly somekinda flat Les Paul.
But now i'm starting to think about defretting it too. One helluva project, but a good friend of mine (and the lead-guitarist in my current band), is an aspiring git-tech, so i know he'd love to try something like this out.

Anyone got any thoughts? And ofcourse again, are fretless guitars as cool as fretless basses?

I love fretless basses (when played well) but I can't say that I've ever heard a fretless guitar. Sounds like a cool idea!

Actually, it's not THAT unusual. John Frusciante used some fretless guitars on "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik", and some others have used it too... John Cale, Zappa, Adrian Belew, and... ehh.. Steve Vai. Not that he's any kinda good citation as such, but still...
