There are bands that could remain successful without any original members. KISS is one of those bands, Blackfoot certainly isn't.

This will be a disaster.

Don't bash on Kiss. They are better now than they have been since the end of the seventies. I must say that I prefer the line-up they have now over another reunion of the original. Musically, they are FAR superior now. And the chemistry within the band hasn't been this good for a long, long time.

I don't think he was bashing KISS. Gene has mentioned the possibility of the band existing with no original members several times before. And I definitely agree with you about modern day KISS being superior to the original band. Sonic Boom is the best album they ever did, IMO.

I saw Blackfoot at a club in South Bend, Indiana in 1987. Rickey Medlocke was the only original member. He had two black guys with him, "The Wizzard" on bass and Harold Seay on drums and another guy I don't remember, calling the lineup (shades of Seventh Star) "Rick Medlocke And Blackfoot."

The live show was not at all bad; "The Wizzard" certainly had some thumpin' funky slap bass chops, but the only thing really retaining the Blackfoot flavour was Rickey's guitar and voice.

We got to go backstage and meet the band afterward. Rickey treated us like guests, which was very cool.

But this...whether or not Rickey has given his OK, it's more like Beatlemania: "not Blackfoot, but an incredible simulation."

I have lost interest in the current KISS lineup, even though Eric Singer is among the best drummers and a nice guy (I've met him). For me, the last KISS album that really interested me was Revenge.
