    Default Tracks on new album (no news)

    the guys said in november that they had "7 or 8" new songs written. geezer then said this year that tony had written 2 new songs
    since his diagnosis. then 3 weeks back tony says after finishing chemotherapy that they have written some "great new tracks".

    is this to say that we can expect 12 or 13 songs on the new album? or they just pick the best 10. but if they are to be believed
    about the quality, why leave any off? or is the question of who will play drums on them a bigger concern?

    also, anyone wanna guess the album cover?

    The number of songs I suspect will be in the usual 8-10 range plus an additional track for the Japanese market, with a handful of songs cast aside as unworthy only to appear on unofficial bootlegs in years to come!

    As for the album cover, I wouldn't guess at without knowing the album title. I don't think it would be a band photo though.

    I think we'll be seeing around 12 tracks on this one. Sharon mentioned in a recent interview that "the band must have about 15 songs written", so it's likely that some will probably end up as Japanese/iTunes/Deluxe Edition bonus tracks.

    Slightly off topic question: Does anyone know roughly long before The Devil You Know's release the album's title was announced?

    True, given the extra time that a CD provides, so maybe 10 then, but more than 10 would screw up Joe's "Survivor Polls".

    Hopefully the tracks will last as long as they need to, a number of groups (I'm looking at you Iron Maiden and Metallica) seem to think they need to completely fill an 80 min CD and you end up with 30 mins of filler.

    Ron Paul and KILODELTACHARLIE the 80 minuts of what you call filler is paridise to my ears on the Maiden CD's. Sorry but I love the long musical songs.

    Lets look at their output since the Sabbath reunion in '97 (when Sabbath ceased to be an active recording unit).
    * Black Science (1997) - 13 tracks
    * Down to Earth (2001) - 11 tracks
    * Iommi (2000) - 10 tracks
    * Fused (2005) - 10 tracks
    * Ohmwork (2005) - 10 tracks
    * Black Rain (2007) - 10 tracks
    * The Devil You Know (2009) - 10 tracks
    * Scream (2011) - 11 tracks

    Think 10 is a safe bet.

    These albums have more than 10 tracks when you include all the iTunes/deluxe edition exclusive songs. This is also the Ozzy era's first first album since 1978. I can't imagine them doing only 10 songs (not that I would be disappointed with 10).

    Indeed, I think the album will have ten tracks, but this era will probably result in us getting about 15 songs if you tally up all the bonus tracks that turn up, maybe.

    Depends what they do - the guys aren't known for having a vast array of special editions.

    I'd be happy with 10 full length Sabbath tracks, I'd be ecstatic if we end up getting 12! Even if its in the form of B-Side or Soundtracks.
