So how to you propose to accomplish this?

I plan to accomplish this with my bare hands. I do not feel a need to accomplish this, I have been ordered by the supreme being.

Well I don’t want no preacher telling me about the god in the sky
No I don’t want no one to tell me where I’m gonna go when I die
I wanna live my life, I don’t want people telling me what to do
I just believe in myself, ’cause no one else is true

Oh, well in that case, you'd better carry on!

Sadly I cannot join you, I'll just go home and await my doom, for alas I'm on the side of metal.

PS the supreme being to which you refer, is this the same one referred to by Laibach (non-metal) when they say: "We believe in God - but we don't trust her". If so, it might be a trick! Perhaps you should disobey and start promoting metal instead?

The supreme being has heard the moans, wails, and gnashing of fangs of the metal masses and decreed, in her/his/its divine benificence, that my holy war be called off. I can't say whether or not Ron Paul will cease his perfectly planned assault however.

Manowar are perfectly delightful! However, I do agree anyone who takes the imagery too seriously deserves apocalyptic annihilation.

In general though, I'm with Sabbathman on this one

In all seriousness, it seems every time I log on to this site there is a discussion of metal subgenres, or somebody is using a metal song as their reply in the song chain game, or somebody is bemoaning the fact that Sabbath are playing a non-metal festival, or their latest album purchase is by a metal band, or they "are listening to" a metal song "now", or are reading a handbook on 20 ways to be metal, or metal mc metalson. Which is all fine, I probably just want in on the conversation but am pretty ignorant of metal. Therefore, when one brings x to the 9th power, one can see that this thread was a play on "Death Metal Thread" and meant for fun, but I think I just went and ruined all that by revealing the bald headed, sad little man behind the curtain. Ok, back to the fun! Fun dammit! FUUUUNNNNNN!!!

It's funny how perspective can vary so much. I'm a metal-head primarily, introduced to the genre by the mighty Sabs, so I'm always surprised to see so much NON-metal. To me all I see is rock, prog, bluesy classical crossover

The variety is actually welcome, many of us 'metal' types like different metal to each other anyway - also you'll be pleased to know that 2 of my last 6 recent purchases are completely non-metal.

Heavy Metal can NEVER be killed. It will even outlast the rats and roaches. It has the most die hard fans, and so many sub genres, you can never be bored of it. Metal though, is MEANT to be in the underground. When it ISN'T, well, you saw the effects of when it reaches popularity: Cock Rock bands like Poison, Warrent or Winger. Or more recently, mallcore bands like Limp Bizcuit and Powerman 5000. No, it is at it's best when it's underground. I still remember to this day when I was 15, all the adults I knew would say, "Oh, it's a teenage thing, you'll grow out of it" or "When you mature, you'll end up listening to blues or jazz". HAHA!!!! I love plain ol GOOD MUSIC. Classical, dark ambient, neo classical, 70's hard rock, neo-folk, medieval, industrial, trance and techno, I love it all. But metal will ALWAYS be my favorite genre of music. And if it wasn't for BLACK SABBATH, NONE OF US would be here today. i don't care what the ignorant talking heads say, Hendrix, Lez Zepplin, Nazareth, the Beatles, THEY DIDN'T invent heavy metal no. That was Sabbath in 1969, with the opening riff of Black Sabbath, still the most EVIL song today.

I'm not really into Beatles-covers (noone does it as good as themselves anyway), but this wasn't too bad. Up until 2:10, when it all gets ruined...

Edit: Btw, talking about Beatles and heavy, they did both heavy and punk with Helter Skelter. (And no, i don't wanna hear any mention about Mötley Crüe's horrible version)
