Brisk, what was the crowd reaction like? Mostly positive, mostly negative, or mixed? How was Ozzy's voice?

I suppose you can update us after the show, and/or submit a review or something. I'm just curious?

Hi all, I was at the gig today, so can answer a few of the questions raised on the thread.

It was a great gig, the first time I've seen Sabbath. They were amazing. Excellent crowd reaction, not a sign of anything negative where I was and lots of excitement and energy. Lots of crowd love for Tony too, for which he seemed quite touched. He looked well to me and still has his hair. A nice moment at the start of iron man, ozzy switching the words to 'he is iron man' and pointing at Tony.

The set list was exactly as on the other thread as far as I can remember. Mightily impressed the band could keep up the level of energy and performance they did tonight after 45 years. Ozzy's voice sounded spot on too.

I'll leave it to brisk to report back in more detail, but just wanted to let you know it went off well, as some of you seem to be bursting for info!

Thanks for sending us your good vibes. Too bad they couldn't do it with Bill, but the MAIN THING is the great music and tonight's great performance from them all!

I was really impressed with Ozzy voice to be honest. I think it sounded really solid.
Wish someone uploads a video from Wheels of Confusion, that's a great tune and I wonder how it sounded.

I note that when Clufetos starts the bass drum intro to Iron Man, complete with some quite unnecessary overacting, there is a very audible chant of "BILL-WARD-BILL-WARD".

It's such a shame Bill isn't there...but Black Sabbath played a tight & powerful performance, Tony looks OK by all means (Thank God) and Ozzy seems to have a fucking great booming voice! It's unbelievable how good Ozzy has been since the release of his latest album, I've seen him live with his own band twice already and both times Ozzy had a big kick in his stamina ja voice. I guess it's all because of his newly adopted alcohol-free lifestyle. Great for Ozzy, great for Black Sabbath, great for us fans!

Thanks for the videos! I wish I could see Black Sabbath in such a cool, smaller place like O2 Academy, I bet the vibe at the show was tremendous!

I was on Tony's side as you can tell, about 5th row I ended up.

I was going crazy, I wanted everyone else to go crazy but no one in front of me was doing anything. Was so annoying!!! The crowd in general were good.

Band sounded fucking amazing!! I noticed no glitches.

Head a faint Bill Ward chant during the solo.

Clufetos is not a great drummer, thinks he is so good with his double bass work which isn't that impressive. If you drum for Alice Cooper you must be boring and lame.

Great show, was predicting that sorta set going from last tours and stuff. I wonder if it will change.

Ozzy actually doesn't sound too bad. I'm glad he doesn't even try those higher notes anymore since that would just be embarrassing...

But frankly this is about Tony not anybody else. I'm so happy he's feeling good and looking good and playing as awesome as ever! It is good to have some good news considering the fight against cancer for a change...we've had too many tragedies lately.

up for Tony! He truly is the IRON MAN!

Thanks to all for the updates, info, videos, ETC. This is making me even more excited for Chicago in August. It is going to be worth every penny I have paid so far, and will pay on the trip. Black Sabbath has been such a huge part of my life, and to finally see the original band (most of anyways) is going to be awesome.

and yes HORNS UP for Tony!

Everything sounds great, except for the drums, very weak and not very fluid if you ask me. Never been a fan of Tommy, his playing style is pretty lame I think. Personally I think he's just an average drummer, a very average drummer.

Instead of the drum solo, they should have done 'The Straightener'. Time enough for Ozzy to take his short break, and 100X better than a Tommy Clitoris drum solo.

Hoping someone uploads 'Under The Sun' and 'Tomorrow's Dream' soon.

I tihnk the risk that Bill took in not participating was allowing the band to get comfortable with a diffferent drummer. I'm no musician but Clufetos sounded pretty darn powerful on this song and to my ears he was hitting all of the breaks and rolls with precision. The magic of Bill's drumming lies in the fact that he doesn't operate as a timekeeper but, rather, he orchestrates and plays off of Tony and Geezer. For the better part of the last 30 years Tony, Geezer, and Ozzy have played with an assortment of very capable drummers all very much in the traditional timekeeper mold. In the end it is probably easier and more comfortable to work with drummers that may be a bit more reliable and consistent both live and in the studio . This isn't a knock on Bill, just an observation.

Oh, I found 'Under The Sun' footage.

Listen to the drums at 3:13 to 3:18, wtf!? And at all the other points of the song where that part repeats. Very weak.

I don't mean to just bash Tommy the whole time, but it's just amusing to me. His tone and how he plays, doesn't fit Sabbath songs I don't think. Sounds out of place his drumming does.

^ Great. Would be cool if someone bothered to collect all these clips spread around at atleast two threads into one concert-thread. (I know i'm too lazy though )

Edit: Btw, i think this is the best clip i've seen from the show. Fucking great!!!
Could've been better drum-fills though, but can't have everything

^^^That one came out particularly well I think, too bad they cut off the ending but I guess that would be a bit tough to pull off live, what with the double tracked guitar solo plus guitar riff. But yeah, Ozzy sings this one just fine!

After all this drama, it is fantastic to see Tony up there playing his heart out! If I was unaware of the battle he is currently fighting, I would have no idea he was sick in any way judging from this footage. Love seeing Ozz sound great too! All bullshit aside, I'm pretty jealous I couldn't be there

Tommy's drumming on 'Black Sabbath' during the sped up part of the song, doesn't sound to me like he's playing it right. Timing seems different and it's way too basic compared to any other rendition I've honestly ever heard of this song. 5:41 to 5:47 particularly sounds different to me. What I've been trying to put my finger on, he's just way too basic of a drummer for what Sabbath songs need to sound like a Sabbath song.

Maybe the fact that I'm stoned just makes me nit pick moreso cause I've got greater focus and am listening pretty damn attentively. And drumming is important to me, and if I don't like how the drums sound, it can ruin the whole sound for me.

    Exactly!
And in the choruses (of BS) he puts the beat that should've been on the toms on the bass-drum instead, which mess up the whole feel. Couldn't even get the end of the song right. Rest of the band sounds great though...

The Wiz was even worse drumwise. No groove in the drum-rolls.
But how incredibly cool that Ozzy's playing the harmonica!!! And yet again, rest of the band sounds great.

    Intro and 'Into The Void'

Not very close, but the audio is pretty damn clear. I'm pretty surprised at how good Ozzy actually sounds in most of this videos. Besides his performance on 'Wheels', which is understandable, he sounds damn good. I hear actual singing instead of just his usual way of spouting out the lyrics.

Edit: Eww...just watched a clip of the 'Symptom' jam, and wow Tommy's drumming makes me cringe. 'Symptom' is my favorite Ozzy-era Sabbath track, so I know what the drums should be dammit on that track, haha. Bill set the bar so high with his drumming on that one, it's underrated really. Nobody ever mentions just how insane Symptom is for being released in 1975! I don't care what anyone says, that had to be the heaviest song released in history up to that point in time. Personally, I call it more than just a prototype for thrash-metal, I call that the first thrash song period.
