Checked out Time And Time Again yesterday at youtube. Not too bad, typical Rex Brown-groove metal. Could really get into it if i listened too it enough.
But if that is what Appice calls playing his ass off and letting himself loose, well you know...
Just picked it up via itunes download today. So far I've only listened to the first 4 songs, but it has yet to disappoint. Really good tunes on this one, definitely worth picking up. What do you guys think of this release?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing... he does not sound much different (at least on the songs I have heard) than he did on The Devil You Know!!!
Still decent drumming, but rigid and "comfortable". It's too bad - because at one time I thought Vinny(Mob Rules, Holy Diver) was a very good drummer.
I will probably still pick this one up - as I have liked the three songs I have heard via Blabbermouth.net.

You guys should listen to the song War Machine.

if I trust that I 've ever heard , hum .... not great, pretty banal
I don 't expect anything of this guy .![]()
'Power Metal' was awesome though!
I find what I've heard of Kill Devil Hill ok, but the riffs aren't overly memorable really. Some good solid playing obviously, and some definite potential but nothing spectacular going on there.

Now, I didn't expect anything but "meh" but this is actually a good album. There are no real killer tracks but pretty much everything is enjoyable and real.
Excellent album. Nobody will be talking about it ten years from now, but a damn good listen, nonetheless. Better than I expected. Kudos to Vinny and his new band!
Can someone describe the sound of it for me? Thinking of picking it up, but not sure how it will sound. Is it Sabbathy? Hopefully not thrash because I'm not really into that. How are the vocals?

i would indeed say Sabbathy, and not thrashy. So, no, it does not sound like Pantera. There is a certain amount of Alice in Chains influence, but I always thought they were influenced by Sabbath in the first place. the vocals are 'clean' but not 'power metal' clean. the band i would most closest compare them to is Down, i guess.
I heard a track a few months ago might have been from a demo, or a rough mix. I was very impressed with the song I heard. It definitely reminded me of something from TDYK, like Atom & Evil perhaps. I picked the CD up last week. Not totally enthralled with it, but it's alright. The vocals overall are very commercial sounding to me and lack personality. I think Celt is right on the money comparing it with Alice in Chains. I also still can't figure out which song I heard earlier this year. So perhaps that one was left off the album.

Sounds a lot like AIC, definitely. I hear a little bit of Pantera, and the song 'Time and Time Again' reminds me a lot of Sabbath. I haven't hheard the entire album yet, but I like what I hear.

It a very solid release. No tracks really stand out from the rest but they're all good. That's not really a bad thing when that's the case. I've been listening to this quite frequently since it was released. Very enjoyable album.

A solid effort. Sonically it's an amalgam of AIC, COC, and Fused. I found it interesting in the sleeve notes that Ronnie James Dio receives thanks (presumably from Vinnie) but not Tony or Geezer.
I agree with the Sabbath meets AIC assessment. Not much into down because I have never been a Phil fan. Overall I like this record very much. I would give it an 8.5 out of 10. It is heavy with melody.
As for the once again slagging of Vinny I just don't get it. He is a great drummer and is playing his ass off here. Much more than on TDYK. Vinny is on of the best back beat drummers in music. His fills are good, sometimes a bit predictable, but you always know what you get with Vinny. I suppose it's because he will always be compared to Bill Ward. In his prime, Bill is one of the best ever, so is it a fair comparison?
