Default Questions about the first two Dio Sabbath Deluxe Editions

Hey guys, thinking about getting the deluxe editions of Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. The deluxe editions of the first three Sabbath albums, sound wise, were AWESOME! However, I was pissed with the cheap cardboard digipak and no lyrics. WHY does Sabbath leave out lyrics on all the old stuff? Anyways, does H&H and MR deluxe editions have lyrics? I also heard then when comparing the two albums together soundwise, that H&H is much lower in volume compared to MR (the deluxe editions remastered by Andy Pearce). Any info on these would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Sound wise both DE's are brilliant. Without a doubt the best remasters I've heard.

The digipack is great and they still have the plastic cover on them.

There are tons of great pictures. But unfortunately no lyrics. But very lenghty liner notes. But truth to be told when we have this site who the hell needs lyrics printed on the albums anymore anyways!?

Heaven and Hell is possibly the best-sounding disc in the entire Sabbath remaster catalogue, but the bonus tracks aren't really that special to me.
Mob Rules is indeed a few notches louder than H&H, but no louder than most of my 1980s metal discs.
The plus with MR is that you get an entire live show on the second disc in rather nice quality, nothing too clean or sterile about it.
I'd go with them, most certainly.
But no, no lyrics included in either of these.

Interesting. What about the Castle remasters? Do those have lyrics?

Yes, but they aren't all that accurate...and the sound on them is far inferior.

Really? I heard from some people that the 1996 Castle editions didn't have that loudness war thing going on. Damn, i just put the first three deluxe editions on ebay, so I can get the 96 Castle editions instead. For me, if the castle sound is at least OK, I am good with that, because I absolutely hate digipaks, and the bonus tracks are useless. At least the thought of it having lyrics, even if they're not always right, means they have their heart in the right place. Message me if anyone wants to trade their first three Sabbath albums (the 96 castle edtions) for the first three Sabbath deluxe editions.

Edit* After some research, a lot of people believe the Sanctuary deluxe editions have the same sound as the 1996 Castle editions. I am keeping the first three Deluxe, but after what a lot of people are saying about the crappy Sanctuary 2009 remaster versions of Volume 4, Sabotage and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, what version do you guys suggest I get of those albums, as long as they're not the Warner Bros releases?

Yes. Compared to the new remasters those Castle ones do not only sound thin but very out dated...which is not really a surprise considering they are over 15 years old.

I used to think they were very good remasters but after hearing the DE...well they just aren't.

Pretty spot on, only one thing to add is that the second disc is this.
Let me tell you now, about a friend of mine. He tried to shoot them lights, with whiskey and the wine. He didn't get so far, ah his gun was wrong. Now my sweet friend, where's your song? Shoot out the lights, shoot out the lights.

Cool!!! I'm not a very rich person, in fact I am unemployed, but i want to replace ALL my shitty Warner Bros Sabbath albums. SO, I got the first three Sabbath albums, the deluxe editions. They sound great. I'll get the deluxe editons of H&H and MR. Now, if I can only get ONE CD of Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath AND Sabotage, which is the definitive versions of those? The 2009 Sanctuary releases master ALSO by Andy Pearce? He did the first three Sabbath Deluxe editions as well, and they sound great.

Just go get all the 2009-2011 Sanctuary re-releases. They were all done by Andy Pearce. Also, if the original release had lyrics, this will. If it didn't, it won't. Simple as that.

Thanks for the info Joe!!! The 2009 Sanctuary remasters it is then. BTW, you've done a GREAT job here and it's a true honor in the name of Sabbath!

I agree with Joe. And if you really need the lyrics, this website has them all.
