Don't Start too, very hard to vote though, cos' all his instrumentals are amazing, I wonder if the beginning of Spiral Architect was originally intended to be a instrumental?
Embryo
Orchid
Laguna Sunrise
Fluff
Don't Stop (Too Late)
Scarlet Pimpernel
A simple little poll. This is tough for me, since all of them are amazing, but I have to go with 'Don't Start (Too Late)'.

Laguna sunrise for me.
Well I don’t want no preacher telling me about the god in the sky
No I don’t want no one to tell me where I’m gonna go when I die
I wanna live my life, I don’t want people telling me what to do
I just believe in myself, ’cause no one else is true
This should've been a multiple choise-poll, i would've gone for both Don't Start (Too Leat) since it's such a great intro to Symptom, and Laguna Sunrise since it's a song on it's own instead of just an intro. Went for the Sunrise...
Embryo for me. Love it!

Fuck, I put 'Don't Stop' instead of 'Don't Start'. That's embarrassing.

They are all great, I chose Fluff but it's closely followed by Laguna Sunrise, Orchid and Scarlet Pimpernel. I wish he'd recorded more of these, would gladly have an album with one side instrumental or something. If only they had been able to maintain the progressive edge they got in SBS, that would have been very interesting. Though of course it would have eliminated any chances of commercial success since the genre of prog rock was on it's way out by then ^^

The world is a lonely place - you're on your own.
Guess I will go home - sit down and moan.
Crying and thinking is all that I do.
Memories I have remind me of you,
Of you, of you...
To some degree I can see where you're coming from, they kept the keyboards. Also "Air Dance" is quite progressive in it's structure. Apart from that, I'd still say SBS is much more of a prog album than the later three. And of course we don't need to mention anything after NSD here :D Honestly I don't get what the Sabbath spirit is in doing something when it's on the way out, have they done that before/after?

All are fantastic, but I voted Don't Start (Too Late). I love the spanish guitar vibe, and it works as a great introduction for the heaviness of Symptom Of The Universe. Iommi has always been an underrated acoustic player in my books.
But as far as his acoustic work goes, my favorite is the intro of Bible Black. The guitars are simply mezmerising...
"The consequence of conscience/Is that you'll be left somewhere/Swinging in the air"-Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010) R.I.P. King Of Metal
"Just take a look around you what do you see/Pain, suffering, and misery/It's not the way that the world was planned/It's a pity you don't understand" - Geezer Butler
"If god is in heaven/How can this happen here" - Phil Lynott (1949-1986)
I picked orchid. Im surprised they didnt include the outro to SOTU, Shes Gone and Its Alright.
Yeah in a way I guess you're right. They were heavily influenced by whatever was popular at the time during those albums as well though I would say Tony never let that take over the album, he still made the material he thought sounded best. Probably one of the reasons why every single song turned out to be good imo.

I think Sabbath experimented since their first album. After all, there was nothing that sounded like them before 1970. And with each album they expanded on their style and explored new territory. MOR introduced acoustic guitars; Vol 4 has a lot more variety than previous albums with a ballad, acoustic intrumental, and a mix of dark, heavy songs with more melodic, upbeat ones; SBS had longer songs with more complex arrangements and introduced keyboards and orchestration; Sabotage is definitely their most varried albums, containing both their heaviest and most melodic work; and of course NSD sounded completely different than anything they did before. That's what I love about the Ozzy era. Each album is completely unqiue. I'm a die-hard fan of the Dio and Tony Martin eras, but it's true that they didn't experiment as much as they did in the '70s.
I've been thinknig about that for a while. I think Iommi should definitely do an acoustic album. I'd buy it in a second. He's such an underrated guitarist, because everyone loves him for his heavy riffs, but he's an incredibly varied player.

My bad guys. I forgot the topic is acoustic instrumental. Please forget that i brought up ,Shes gone, Its alright and the acoustic half of SOTU. I would bring up the very end of Heaven and Hell where Iommi plays solo acoustic but the whole song is not acoustic or an instrumental.

Scarlet Pimpernel is his best, it has a Tubuler Bells (Theme from the Exorcist) vibe about it and it doesn't drag on like Fluff which gets tedious after about the first 3 min. Don't Start (Too Late) is just a finger scale excersize, can't believe it leads this poll, Laguna Sunrise is my 2nd pick, Orchid & Embryo are ok, good intros to real songs. Iommi's genious is writing simple catchy stuff, his acoustic worl is OK, but can't touch Jimmy Page's who is much more fluid wide ranging in his acoustic work. Blackmore has shown in his later years that he is a great folk classical player as well, much better than Iommi's work Tony's a great song architek, not a virtuoso player by any means. His genious is in writing heavy melodic riffs.
"Scarlet Pimpernel." It has a slight Flamenco flavour to it.
He is not here. He has risen!
"Laguna Sunrise." It makes me think of being high as hell.
