Yes, Martin recorded some demos with the band before Marcolin's return. He also performed a song with them at the bands 20th Anniversary show back in 2007. There's a nice interview with him included in the bonus materials of the DVD.![]()
Can I believe this ?
I ignore Tony made a session for Candlemass during 2005 , the white album featuring the come back of Messiah Marcolin .
This demo song " Witches " demonstrates once again the talent of Tony .
Although the voice is a little too far forward relative to the rest of the group (I do not believe what I write , but ... !)
I don't recognize either the bass sound of Leif Edling: it has never been raw and powerful like this . Killer !
I would be delighted if Joe or someone else could confirm this info ...

Eh, as much as I like Tony, I don't think he sounds too good here. He sounds too overdramatic and doesn't have much range. I love the music and lyrics, but if this is indicative of what he would have sounded like if he stayed with the band, I'm glad they got back with Messiah and then Rob Lowe.

I think Tony sounded good. But yeah Candlemass always has had bit more operatic singers (Messiah took that even bit over the top and it started to sound like laughable already) than Tony so their sound would have changed a lot had they gone on with him.
But regardless seeing him preform on the 20th anniversary dvd was bloody cool though!

Never heard of this before. And I think Tony Martin actually sounds like Robert Lowe here.

I just posted this on my facebook page and Tony was gracious enough to comment on it:
I gotta say it's really awesome that Tony keeps in touch with us fans like this too.Originally Posted by Tony Martin
I still wonder how the album would have sounded with Tony...I bet it would have been great, different, but great.

^^^^ Thanx for sharing , Charger .
Tony has a nice attitude to answer and give more details on this test. It deserved to realise a full album, indeed .
Now there's a voice for sore ears...
If Messiah hadn't returned, Tony could have made it just that bit more awesome.

Candlemass are so closely identified with Marcolin's voice that it would be hard for anyone to replace him...except Tony Martin!
I would have thoroughly enjoyed a full album with TM's voice and songwriting.
He is not here. He has risen!
True , not a major band but however the 3 albums "The Cage" with Dario Mollo are awesome , especially the first .
^^^^ yeah very good stuff !!
Back to Candlemass , here the same song with the one and only great Messiah
less Heavy , more Doom ...
I'm also very impatient and curious about the result of the collaboration of Tony with Andy LaRocque/Magnus Rosén /Danny Needham , a project called " Black" .
