He shot some video at the gig tonight with permission from the band, which will be exclusive to this site. That's about as much as I want to say now, as I haven't viewed any of the video, Damian has probably crashed now.
I'll let him tell the story of what happened when he gets a moment - I don't want to steal his thunder there. I did get a few updates from him during the night, and it sounded like he got some good shit, and had a great time doing it.

Thank you Heaven & Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh so thats what the big surprise was then? That is great news Joe.
I couldn't make the trip down to AC, as I had a show myself last night but they were great in NYC on Tuesday.
Let's hope after Tony's surgery that we can get another new album and tour out of the boys next year. Till then Dio can write his second Magica album, and I'm really looking forward to that as well.

Ha, ha. I thought they'd hand out a sourvenir like a signed H&H post card or lapel pin but hey, the video works just as well. I wish I was close enough to see any of the shows. I'm kinda sad I missed my chance to see them. During the 80's I was on a military base overseas with my parents so I also missed them back then. You guys are fortunate to see them live. Long live H&H!

I wish we had name tags we could all wear so we could meet up. It will be me and my buddy. We are both bald with goatees. I wear glasses, like Nate Robinson of the Detroit Tigers. I will be in a beige (khaki) Mob Rules t-shirt. My guess is we will get to HOB around 3:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday.
I can not wait. This will be my 3rd show in a week. I have this feeling this could be the last US show ever, and I just could not miss it.
see you there!!!!

Well, just waking up, got back home around 5:30am, we drove back instead of getting a motel. Got into Atlantic City later then expected, found HOB at far end of boardwalk. I haven't been to Atlantic City in probably 25 yrs, the place is really cool, like Vegas with a beach. It was a very muggy and warm night. Anyway, got into the club which is part of the Taj Mahall (If I remember right..?) casinos everywhere, you go up an escalator, into the club, our seats were upstairs in the balcony section. Floor was general admission. Halestorm was suppose to start at 7:30pm, but didn't come on until almost 8:30pm. The crowd was filing in slow and late, It appeared most of them were kinda blowing off the opening band who I suspect alot of them hadn't heard of, but I'll tell ya, their loss, because she/they were great! The "girl" Lizzy, she's off stage but starts singing unaccompanied by any music in the beginning, her voice pealing the paint off the walls of HOBs. All I could think was the movie Rock Star where the new singer starts singing and everyone just goes what? Anyway, they came on and rocked out, the crowd about 50% got a great warmup, the band CAN PLAY (Youtube doesn't do them justice) and of course nice eye candy. She had a Dio shirt on, and said it was an honor to open up for Rock Royalty. Thier song Poison really show cased how beautiful her voice is as well as powerful. I wish them luck, they really put their heart and soul into it.
Crowd started filing in for H&H our balcany seats were great, the "club" I would say holds around 3k? They were their usual spot on, well tuned monster. They seemed to be really enjoyibg themselves, Dio said Tony really likes this HOB venue, we'll have to do more. Iommi was smiling all night and looked absolutly fantastic, I don't mean to sound like some fan boy, but the guy has that Rock Star presence / aura about him, you just can't take your eyes off him, just humbly accepting the crowd and really in command of the stage and his guitar. He just seems to get better with age, and he must have a Dorian Grey pic somewhere because he seems ageless. Dio was in fine voice, and Geezer, who blows me away, his right hand is literrally a blur when he's playing, and a jam mid song Heaven and Hell, he and Iommi were firing bullets of notes out interplaying with eachother, I've never heard a bass player sound and play quite like that, he's a true leagand in his own right. Dio thanked the road crew and fans of course, saying the band was taking a break, and I have to believe they will be back because they just seem as tight musically and friendship wise. Vinnie's drum solo was great he had drums that encircled him and he stood up at one point and was hitting them from down below in an upward swipe, really entertaining. Dio's last line in the song H&H he sings "And when you walk in golden halls, you get to keep the gold that falls, is ALL BULLSHIT!" It was pretty funny/cool. I'm glad I made the trip, I always enjoy these guys, true professionals who just rock the roof off! \m/

Hello all! Thanks to everyone who made last night a blast for us. It was great to meet fellow forum regs and we have a bunch of video to share with you. I'm still going through the footage, and I expect Joe will begin posting some of it shortly. We very graciously were granted access to the last stop on the Heaven and Hell tour to document what we could for Black Sabbath Online. However, in order to make this happen, we had to use consumer-grade camcorders and shoot on-the-fly. The House of Blues had some strict regulations, not to mention every little thing needed permission from every band member separately, which took some time and had us see-sawing our way from getting shut out to getting full access, and back again during the day and night depending on who we talked to. What this means is that some footage has crappy lighting (the band is not into bright lights off stage, which is understandable), some footage has some minor sound issues (mic problems and general chaos), but I think a lot of it came out pretty good.
There are some stories, some from the crew, some that I witnessed first-hand, and some I'm not allowed to talk about. We think that we could do this sort of thing again from time to time, so we don't want to ruffle any feathers in the Heaven and Hell camp, especially since they really took care of me and our camera guy, but we'll share what we can.
This stuff is not ready to show yet, but we have clips of the following people who talked to us:
Tracy-Tony Iommi's assistant
Terry-Geezer Butler's bass tech
Andre-Vinny Appice's drum tech
Andy-crew rig
Nadia-crew
Pedro Howse-Geezer's assistant
Geezer Butler
Vinny Appice
Ronnie James Dio
Tony Iommi was off-limits, unfortunately, although we kept nearby in case he decided to change his mind. And while we don't have them on tape, we seriously need to thank Mary Jo, the tour manager, "Big Scott", the crew leader, and Ralph Baker, Tony's manager and the most respected man in the building.
Also we have a walk-through of the stage set, including the area's not seen from the crowd where the band members keep their instruments and other items, fan interviews, and about 3 minutes of exclusive footage of Heaven and Hell playing "The Mob Rules" (which was the end result of a back and forth negotiation between me and Ralph. We had hoped to tape three songs using two cameras from the security pit right in front of the stage, but that then turned into one song, and then just part of one song, and then we were forced to retreat into the back of the club to shoot it. And all this happened right before the lights went out, so its not the best coverage, but its ours exclusively.)
The best part, for me, was after the show. They let us film the "meet and greet" where about two dozen lucky fans got to come into a room, two at a time, and shake hands with the band and pose for pics and get autographs. Unfortunately the room was dim and we were not allowed to use a camera light, but this was where I scored a sit-down interview with Ronnie and got the other band member coverage.
Oh, we also got an interview with Lizzy Hale, lead singer of Halestorm, who put on a great opening set. We DO have some great close-up coverage of a few of their songs, and Liz is a real rocker chick, and a Sabbath freak like the rest of us, so we'll offer that up at some point as well.
I'll post a timetable of the whole day tomorrow, with whatever stories I can share.
D.

Sounds and seems like the night was a momentous event indeed!
Once again, here's the list of which I'm beyond thankful in this day and age and of which I'm proud to have gotten almost everything and more than I could have believed...
It's been a wonderful 3 years ever since things started rolling in late summer 2006:
3 new songs for The Dio Years compilation
A world tour including 2 shows in Finland (I got them both!!!) and a commemorative & defining live show DVD from RCMH New York
US mega tour with Judas Priest and Motörhead (I'm happy for those who experienced this there)
A whole new album The Devil You Know, at last!!! A world tour including 2 shows in Finland (I got the show in Helsinki and I managed to meet Vinny Appice and Ronnie James Dio himself!!!)
Ronnie James Dio promised that "Dio will never stop" and "Magica 2 and 3 are almost finished, a tour will follow"...Ronnie James Dio has spoken about coming back after the break and Tony's recovery, a new album and tour will most likely follow...
On the behalf of myself and all who attended the Heaven & Hell shows in 2009, I say
THANK YOU SO MUCH, THANK YOU! YOU'VE BEEN A BRILLIANT BAND ON RECORD AND ON STAGE! WE WAIT FOR YOUR RETURN WITH A NEW ALBUM AND A TOUR!!!

The night was incredible Sabbathman!!! Had the time if my life. I was able to meet Damian. I meet and hung out with Serpentine and his lovely wife before, during and after the show. We were main floor first row, front and center in front of Ronnie (OMG )
It was the set we all know and love for the 2009 tour. Did not clock it, but it seemed that Tony had a longer solo during "Heaven and Hell." Sound was awesome, venue was awesome, the folks working the gig were very cool to us. All in all it was THE best show I have ever attended.
This caps off 3 show in a weeks time (actually 8 nights, but close enough..LOL) Detroit on 08.21, Cleveland on 08.22 & Atlantic City on 08.29.09. I clocked it from the hotel home, and it was 586 miles. It was 56 miles from the hotel to the HOB giving me 1284 miles round trip, and all done in under 48 hours, as we left around 9 - 9:30 PM on Friday, and were back home by 7 PM on Sunday evening. We did not see much, but then again we saw it all, and all that mattered!
Here is a list of events I am thankful for, to par lay what Sabbathman wrote above
- 3 New Tracks on "The Dio Years"
- Cleveland show at the Tower City Amphitheater on 05.11.07
- Detroit show at "The Legendary" Cobo Arena on 05.12.07
- Detroit show at DTE (Metal Masters Tour) on 08.18.08
- The Devil You Know - 10 new tracks!
- Detroit show at Meadowbrook on 08.21.09
- Cleveland show at Nautica Pavilion on 08.22.09
- Atlantic City show at House of Blues on 08.29.09
6 show in 2 years has been just incredible. If they tour again, and it sounds like they will, I will go and see them as many times as I can. They are my favorite line-up of BS and now I have 7 shows under my belt seeing them, as I saw them in 92 on the dehumanizer tour.
THANK YOU HEAVEN AND HELL!!!!

Thanks Damian. I bet I look like a complete idiot, I can hardly wait to see it. I was running on pure adrenaline that evening...LOL
I found this interesting review of the show online: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/l...tml?mode=story

I never thought this group would ever reunite, much less record a new album and tour three summers in a row. I've seen them three times and bought all the albums and DVDs they put out, and I, like most of us here, want still more from these guys. With that said, I too would also like to take a moment here to thank these four guys for the past two years. I never, ever thought this would happen. So THANK YOU HEAVEN AND HELL!!!! And I would also like to thank Joe and all the people who contribute so much to this site and to the fan forum. The website has truly made this past couple years during the MK II reunion even more special. Long Live Heaven and Hell!!!

I would also like to thank HEAVEN & HELL for all their hard work and awesome album they brought to us. Unfortunately, they were not even near my country so i couldn't see them live but on certain April 17th 2009 in 6 o clock in the morning they made me so damn happy i was numb for a few hours. It was the happiest day in my life and i would really like to thank them and Joe and Damian. I really needed that couse i have been heading thru some awfully hard time. The event encouraged me and gave me strength! Thank You for this masterpiece. Ill be always Your loyal fan! I hope that Tony's surgery will go fine and that he will heal really fast and that Heaven & Hell will be back with the new material! Thanks for everything!

Even though it was the same set list, the guys just really seemed on fire that nite- they gave it everything they had left & blew us all away! There truly was something special in the air that night.
Of course, the highlight for me was having Ronnie sign the set list I was able to get from the Baltimore show stage. I got Ronnie's attention onstage right after Neon Nights & the security guard was cool enough to pass it to him onstage since we couldn't reach the band from the barrier. To my extreme delight, Dio was nice enough to sign it right below Heaven & Hell on the setlist- thanks Ronnie!!! (I'll post a picture if I can figure out how)
To top it all off- I got another pick from Geezer & 3 more Iommi's, making 8 picks from the last 2 shows!

Thats so cool. I remember looking over and seeing you holding the set list out. I had just walked the stage before the show and all of the lists were still taped neatly so at first I was thinking "How the fuck did he grab that from so far away" and then I remembered your post from before when you wrote that you took it from the Maryland show. Very cool dude, and Dio went right along with it. The video with you and H&H will be visible very soon.

We had such a good time in Atlantic City, NJ at the Heaven and Hell show. Was the show awesome or what. This is the way I every concert should be the crowd participation was great. The band was really charged you could tell they were enjoying the crowd participating. We had seats but went down to the floor the crowd was so alive everybody was having such a good time.I feel sorry for anyone that missed this concert. This tour ended on a good note for the band. There will definitely be another album. Thank you Damian really enjoyed the video.

Thanks Joan, next time I hope to prepare a bit better and get even more forum people on board and talk with them before, during, and afterwards. I'm glad you enjoyed the night. We do have coverage of the first song, The Mob Rules that we are waiting for permission to share, although in my opinion, there are snuck-in fan recordings of the last leg of the tour that have better quality. We had to make some sacrifices but at least we documented it.
Cheers,
D.

There's also a good video showing the back of the stage before the band went on I'm waiting on approval from the band for.

Dio said in the interview that he was going to tour and be home by Christmas eve. I though he didn't celebrate or believe in Christmas. If that's the case he really should be touring and working that day.

Maybe he'll celebrate the winter solstice.

That's ridiculous. So he should extend his tour a couple of days just to satisfy your rationale and disregard the personal preferences of his entire band, technicians and crew? Not to mention poor ticket sales because of all the fans who can't make a December 24 or 25 show for one logistical reason or another? I'm sure he doesn't mind performing on any day, but when you mount an entire tour, there are other people to take into consideration besides yourself.
He brought up Christmas as a calendar date, you can do that without swearing allegiance to it, you know. Did you not hear him say "Bah, humbug"?

Lizzy and her band have been working for years before now "known" a bit with a video and opening for H and H which is major for her (a big Dio fan).
She is from where I live and I worked with her father who was the major (brain) supporter, planner, and pusher for her and the band all the years since they were teens.
I'm glad all is working for them, effort, patience and time beyond words. Well earned.
Usually only room for 1 female rock/metal singer at a time in music, she has a good shot.

Yes, she's been at it for nearly 10 years now, and she's only 23!
Actually, I have a full interview with her and some killer performance footage of the Halestorm set, we've been so busy with the Heaven and Hell stuff that I haven't had a chance to put it together but hopefully we'll have a link to that available soon!
