The scene was very muddy as it was raining the whole weekend. A year before the show was cancelled due to a hurricane. I had had some choice seats with a bunch of old friends from all over for that event but this time I had gotten the 2 for 1 field tickets on the Ozzy boxset giveaway. I went with my 13 year old son, he's not really a fan, but came to keep me company. I got there when Zombie was playing. I wasn't really into any of the other bands. Maiden wasn't on the tour by this time. But finally the time came for Sabbath and the tour curtain came out. I have been a Sabbath fan since I was 13 ('80) and even though I have seen Ozzy countless times, Ozzy with Geezer, Dio and Gillan Sabbath, I had never the the Sab Four live.

It started pouring rain during the intermission. Nobody cared, as it seemed fitting. Ozzy started screaming through the mic from backstage and pumping everyone up. The rain tapered off during NIB and remained a light rain throughout the set. They were worth the wet and muddy wait . The show was awesome, the songs I have heard so many times right there in my face by the masters. After so many years of missing them for one reason or another it was almost surreal to be seeing them at what may have been the last Sabbath show ever with the original line-up and to share it with my son. Needless to say they blew away every other band there.

Ozzy's voice cracked a bit on the first song or two, but then he was fine. Ozzy told us the doctor told him he couldn't sing that night and that he told him to fuck off. He bowed to Tony Iommi when he introduced him. He told us not to drive drunk because the fucking cops are outside waiting to bust your asses. A showman as always. The set was exactly as listed on the site. My only regret is I wish the set would have been longer. But overall, just a fantastic time listening to the greatest band of all time.

Attached are the tickets (ozzy boxset offer), a bit worn out as the were soaked along with me.
