Hi Joe,

Just back from a great gig in Berlin.

Only bad thing I have to say about it have nothing to do with the band but with the fact the venue is right in the middle of a built up area and the residents are none too happy with an open air gig every other night during the summer month.
Therefore the gig did start awefully early with Tim Owen on stage at about 18:15 hrs and H&H starting to play at abouth 20:30 hrs. - not a lot wrong with that in theory.
But in only got dark when the band was going into the last couple of tracks and therefore the light show was somewaht wasted (Ronnie asking the light crew to turn down the sun at the beginning of the set...) and the band entering stage in full daylight was somewaht undramatic to say the least.
Worse still was the fact that the volume was very low (for a live show) although both sound and volume did improve / increase as the show went on.

Especially Tony and Ronnie seemed to have loads of fun only Geezer appeared somewaht miserable ( with Ronnie calling him a silly bastard at one time for some reason) - still his bass playing was short of heavenly (pun fully intended).

Ronnie was in great voice - much better then when I saw the band in 2007 - and I hope for all of you his voice is going to last the full tour.
He did some vocal improvisations early on in the set that I hadn't heard before - just loved it!

Heaven and Hell (the song) was absolutely magic.
I will go as far as to say it was the best rendition I have ever heard live by any line up of the band and even if I ran through all the live recordings I have (quite a few) there aren't many better and that includes the 80's !!!
The song was awesome and powerfull and Iommi's guitar solo was the best I heard him play for year's !!!

The set list was too short (as will always be the case of course) - but with the time restraints the band couldn't have played any longer anyway even if they would have wanted to.
Personally I think they should include one of the three new songs they did for the "Dio Years" CD - other than that no complaints really although there is always a favourite song or two they don't play for obvious reasons.
From the new album (do you still use that term actually?) the did pick my favourite songs more or less - so nothing wrong there either.

If there is still people out there contemplating of wether to travel a few hundered miles (like myself) to see the band there is only one answer:

FUCKIN' DO IT

You won't find a better band around in this time and age .

Oh before I forget here's the set list - which I believe is the same as everywhere esle so far anyway:

E5150
The mob rules
Children of the sea
I
Bible black
Time machine
Drum solo
Fear
Falling off the edge of the world
Follow the tears
Die young
Heaven and hell

+ encore

Intro:County girl
Neon knights

Hope we haven't seen or heard the last of this band - although a certain double O probably has now blocked any future developements towards the original four ever recoring/touring again anyway...

Cheers

Ralf
