I've been trying to locate a copy of TYR for sometime and wond up paying $20 on Ebay. Also, Cross Purposes Live is really pricey if you can find it. Any word of a re-release?

IRS recently closed, so these albums ("Headless Cross", "Tyr", "Cross Purposes" and "Forbidden") are currently out of print as far as I know.

And as the Sabbath management seems to have forgotten the Tony Martin years even existed (what's 10 years in a lifetime..?), I'm not certain these will be re-released. And when it comes to "Cross Purposes Live", it's been out of print since 1995, so I guess it's really unlikely. It's a shame if you ask me...

Could just get lucky with pawn shops as well. Got my first some of my first prints in those except for the CPL on cd, that I got for 22 bucks on Ebay. Wouldn't hurt to try.

If I remember correctly, the IRS albums were then reissued by EMI in 1999 after IRS closed. That would mean the albums sound have still been in print.....optimistically speaking of course. But it's really a shame. There could be a lot of listeners out there besides on this board who will be curious to check out the Martin albums yet will have no luck finding it in store. Unpopular? Pff...if there's any demand for CDs then leave them available. Guess this could be one instance when downloading for free is the better option.

Black Box III, please PLEASE....get released in the future!!!

Well, Forbidden is easily found. I got it for $2.00 in a cut-out bin. It goes for $0.99 on Ebay.

Luckily for me, I've found "Headless Cross" at a used CD store (I've seen the IRS version go for $60 on Ebay), got "Cross Purposes" on Ebay, and "TYR" on the Amazon marketplace. But the "Cross Purposes Live" looks dismal. Just the VHS alone goes for $75 on Ebay. http://www.black-sabbath.com/vb/images/smilies/frown.gif

I've never seen an EMI release - LOL! But I've read reviews stating that the IRS re-releases have inferior sound quality and really poor artwork. ?

Eternal Idol is still in print - WB - and you can get that new on any online outlet.

In terms of IRS rereleases, the only ones I've seen before were copies of Headless Cross and TYR that had a white border on the covers. Though I've never heard them; I just got the original version of TYR. Sounds alright ot me....except I wish the keyboards weren't so muddled in the background. That's part of the reason why I'm praying for BB3. That and I've been spoiling by the sound of the first BB.

I usually go to half.com or (for especially rare stuff) gemm.com. Though at the moment a quick glance through Half.com doesn't turn up anything for TYR nor Headless Cross.

Try the Amazon.com marketplace, GEMM, Musicstack, or Half.com and you might have some luck.

I've had problems finding CD's in music stores around in Norway.
Only in Bergen could I find some stuff.
1 of 15 places I've checked, I found it (time 11.10/06-11.12/06).
They had all the Sabbath stuff (including the Martin era), and also Tony Martin's Scream and Tony Iommi's Iommi and Fused, which is only found in Bergen.

At least you got all the albums in that one town. Over hear, it only goes up to the DIo years. It's almost as if the shops completely disowned the rest of the Sabbath discography.http://www.black-sabbath.com/vb/images/smilies/mad.gif

I've seen just about all the Sabbath albums, just about from every era at our local Best Buy store, but mostly it's Ozzy stuff 85% of the time. You can order the albums from amazon or any other online Cd music store.

my town has a terrible Sabbath selection (mostly due to the fact that i bought the last copies of the rarer stuff) and they don't order new ones. i scooped up the last copies of Seventh Star, Headless Cross, Cross Purposes, and Forbidden. i got Black Box here too, but i had to order everything else online (tho i have seen some copies of Heaven and Hell recently)

I wish that they weren't selling so much because there are quite a few of those albums (like all of them) that I would like to get.

Here in Europe Headless Cross and Tyr CDs, especially the Classic Rock re-releases are pretty commonplace, the German or UK eBay sites would be a good places to look for example. Forbidden seems also to be widely available with Cross Purposes being probably the least common, still I've seen some used copies lying around at the local second-hand CD stores. http://www.black-sabbath.com/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif

Other than the serial number, place of manufacture and some other possible cosmetic differences, I don't think so. The Classic Rock re-releases have had their sleeves altered though, but the musical content is identical to the originals. http://www.black-sabbath.com/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif

I picked up Headless Cross (the original apparently, doesn't have a white border) in Sam Goody about 3 years ago. It was maybe $7-8. Picked up Cross Purposes in a Wal-Mart discount rack for about $7. I haven't seen any of the other IRS releases in a long time.

You might could try a used CD store like CD Warehouse as well.

I found an original TYR in FYE when I was on holiday in the US, had to get Cross Purposes, Headless Cross, Cross Purposes Live and Forbidden on eBay, paid the most for an original pressing of Headless Cross, I like liner notes, something that the remaster (which I will now be selling) sorely lacks.
They didn't cost too much in the end, CP was a steal, especially since it never got remastered, and my first Martin era album, still my favourite though.
