  • Favorite Black Sabbath instumental

The time it is coming when all life will end,
With doomsday approaching to hell we'll descend.
Religion won't save me, the damage is done.
The future has ended before it's begun.

I like them all! My favorite is E5150.

It could contend that Supertzar is not an instrumental. There are no "words" but there is clearly singing being done by human voices.

That being said, it's probably my favourite of this list!

Yeah, I don't consider Supertzar an instrumental.

But Embryo kicks every other song's ass on here, IMO.

Just thought, wouldn't it be cool if Iommi records something similar to Scarlet Pimpernel on the upcoming Sabbath album. Tunes such as this one add to the diversity that Sabbath has always embraced. It's really a shame that we haven't had those intricate instrumentals and acoustic tunes since what, TYR?

Tough call between Fluff and Laguna Sunrise but I voted the latter

The vocal chords are being used as an instrument. Would using a talk box instead of a vocalist make an instrumental a full song?

I'm sure to be flambeed for this one, but here goes: Most of the instrumentals listed above are merely short lead-ins to real songs. They could either just be included as part of the main songs or eliminated altogether. To me, they add virtually nothing.

E5150 and Supertzar are the album fillers whose sole purpose is to let audience members know that they better finish up in the bathrooms or at the bars and get to their seats because the show is about to begin.

Fluff and Laguna Sunrise are utter snoozefests. These are easily the slowest, dullest songs ever recorded by any heavy metal band.

That really leaves Rat Salad (which rocks) and Scarlet Pimpernel. I chose Rat Salad.

Rat Salad does indeed own, I'll agree with you on that one.
