  • 5 Least Favourite Dio Songs

Out of the 4 studio albums done with Dio as lead singer, which 5 songs do you like the least.

    Mine are as follws -

    1. Walk Away
    2. Wishing Well
    3. T.v Crimes
    4. Sins of The Father
    5. Too Late

There are songs on The Devil You Know, I'm not too keen on either but i've not listened to the album a great deal yet so I havent listed any.

Just interested in other peoples thoughts on this era.

    In no special order:

    E5150
    Walk Away
    Slipping Away
    The Turn of the Screw
    Time Machine

I included E5150 because there is no other Dio era song that I think should be in this list

This is a tough job, since there are only 2 songs from the Dio era I don't like, and even they aren't bad songs...

      1. Walk Away
      2. Wishing Well
      3. E5150 (great introtape for the concerts though!)
      4. Letters From The Earth (Great tune, but it's on a suberb album so it would have to be my least favourite)
      5. Sins Of The Father (Same thing as above)

I'm not a fan of Wishing Well, but I'm just indifferent towards it. I don't dislike any Dio era song.

          Here's my list:

1 Walk Away (very fillerish to me)
2 The Turn of the Screw (boring)
3 Wishing Well (sounds similar to Walk Away)
          4 Double the Pain
5 Sins of the Father (worst song of Dehumanizer, which is Sabbath's worst Dio-fronted album imo)

I've excluded E5150, as I think this song is too different from the other songs to make a fair comparison.
Apart from that, it wasn't too hard to make a choice. On the other hand, I could have made the list a little longer. Dehumanizer contains some weak tracks not included in my list, and so does The Devil You Know.

All these songs I just consider to be filler. In no particular order

            1. Walk Away(maybe they wanted to give the fans a breather for a few minutes since the rest of the album is so great)
            2. Slipping Away
            3. Eating The Cannibals
            4. Turn Of The Screw
            5. E5150( an OK intro but doesn't do anything for me)
Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reason why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies

I don't get the seemingly universal hatred of Wishing Well and Walk Away. I've always really liked both songs. Wishing Well has some great work from Geezer. Similarly, I don't see how Slipping Away appears on so many lists. Dehumanizer and TDYK are better candidates to have the era's weakest tracks. Besides After All, I and Computer God, Dehumanizer itself can field this topic.
"But I don't want to go among mad people."
"Oh, you can't help that, we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?"
"You must be or you wouldn't have come here."

                    None.

So little output by this line-up that I cherish even some of the lesser songs.

Walk Away would be my least favorite.
"I can honestly say itís truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years, his music will live on forever." ~ Tony Iommi (Speaking of Ronnie James Dio)

agreed!!!, but some songs I like more than others, which must mean some I like less. I suppose.

                      I actually love wishing well

"Someday, some way, you'll feel the things I say
Dream for a while on the things that make you smile
Don't you know that I might be your wishing well"

is for me some of Dio's besat with Black Sabbath, both in lyrics and in music.

Please listen to "Too Late" again, It's one of my favorite Songs, I think you might like it, give it another go. It's like the "Falling of the Edge.." of 1992.

                        Cheers

Its too hard to think of my 5 least favorite songs Dio has done with Iommi/Butler. I just cant do it, I like them all. I'm sure it would be easier had they put out more material.

I agree with you on WW and WA. I have to disagree with you on I, that song should never be removed from their live set.

The time it is coming when all life will end,
With doomsday approaching to hell we'll descend.
Religion won't save me, the damage is done.

I think you misread his post. He states that most of Dehumanizer except for After All, I and computer can be considered as filler so he doesn't think that I is bad.
