  • Black Sabbath Covers

IMO never on the level of the originals... but lately i've been hooked on BLS Juniors Eyes and BioHazards After Forever cover versions...

Wanted to ask ... what are your favorite cover versions of BS songs?

    Cheers,

I thought Type O Negative's version of "Black Sabbath" was very cool, they definitely put their own spin on it.

oh yeah, I forgot Sabbatum's "Symptom of the Universe". It's from a whole CD of Sabbath sung in latin to a quasi gregorian chant style. Symptom is definitely the best adaptation, spooky as hell. The version of "Spiral Architect" on there is very pretty also.

Type O Negative also covered Paranoid and turned it into a 7 minute song

I quite like the covers which take a completely different slant on the original: The Dickies version of Paranoid is quite fun ... if you're not familiar with it, it's like a 33rpm version played at 45 (for those who remember vinyl!).

My favourite covers though, are probably the versions of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Iron Man from The String Quartet Tribute series.

I've always really liked Metallica's cover of Sabbra Cadabra/A National Acrobat. I like the way they slow it down, and I really like the way the 1st track transforms into the 2nd - and the way it goes back to the 1st track later on.

I love this cover because I think they made it interesting by not using the piano and using guitar and bass instead.

                            One Man Electrical Band

Got an interesting Black Sabbath cover album on I-Tunes yesterday.

It's called OMEB Bloody OMEB by an artist called "One Man Electrical Band". It was really good, actually
Do you want to encourage the Sabb Four to release a studio, demo, or official live version of "Scary Dreams" (the thus far unreleased song they debuted/performed live during their 2001 Ozzfest tour)? If so, consider becoming a fan of Scary Dreams on facebook by clicking the below link:
