  • Which do you like better as a closer and why?

    The Writ OR Spiral Architect
I say The Writ, more variety
    Hard choice

Spiral Architect, one of my all time favourites, a Top 10 song and maybe even a Top 5. The Writ is solid though but just not on the same level.

      Either either.

I think The Writ hits heavier and may reach higher highs, but Spiral Architect might be the "more consistent" of the two.

      Two fanfuckingtastical songs either way.

Both are the perfect bookends to the sound of their respective albums.
95% of everything i say is pure bullshit just for the fun of it. The other 95% is damn serious!

both are splendid ways to finish their respective albums but Spiral Architect slightly edges out The Writ to me. SA flows and is lyrically less transparent, which to me helps sells a song. The Writ, (which I still love and is one of a handful that I'll never skip over on Sabotage), grinds its gears a little back and forth and the end needed a little fine-tuning than just a riff being spun up to the fade-out. But cheers to both tunes.

Spiral... It's the culmination of all that is sabbath...

This isn't even a close call!

                SPIRAL ARCHITECT for sure...

The Writ as some good moments but it suffers from being too long for its own good.

SA. The Writ is a pretty great tune, but as ohers have sated here, not quite on the same level.

Two great closers which both demonstrated the creativity of Black Sabbath. This is a tough pick, I give a slight edge to The Writ, as it brings home the edge and raw attitude of Sabotage. Too long? The longer the song, the more opportunity to enjoy greatness.

Both fine ways to end an album but spiral for me edges out the writ.

And Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is their best album.

The Writ is a fucking awesome monument to the talents behind Black Sabbath.

Were you wearing a tweed jacket and smoking a pipe when you wrote this?

If, of course, agree fine sir.
