I know Ozzy is singing on those songs, even if it not sounds like him.
How could Ozzy sound like that?

I dunno. He just did...It's great, isn't?

PS: There was a topic about this before, but I guess it doesn't matter if there's another. Only that it takes up space..

Hmm, if there is another, then it must be old.

I dont know this for sure, but it sounds like Ozzy is singing through a leslie cabinet. You can recreate this sound by singing a note and cupping your hand in front of your mouth and moving it really fast back and forth. (hope that makes sense.)

Actually reading the wiki, it even mentions the song.

If Dio and Ozzy would fight on life and death, in a man too man duel, with swords, Dio would kill old fat Ozzy in a matter of seconds!!!

Nowaaaay!

Ozzy would be too slow to even think of it, due to his ugly fatness.

MSNDJ, this thread is not about Dio. I like rebel rule-breakers as much as the next headbanger, but around here, you MUST follow Joe's rules or he will ban you.

And if any members spot someone flagrantly breaking the forum rules, please shoot a PM to either Joe, myself, or one of the other mods. We appreciate it.

They still make Leslie Cabinets, which are usually coupled with Hammond Organs, but are occasionally used for guitar (Cream's Badge, or Pink Floyd's "Any Colour you Like") or even rarer, Vocals, such as the Grateful Dead's Rosmary or Planet Caravan.

They do not make good PA equipment though, they weigh a tonne, and of course could all go horribly wrong, as they have a lot more components than your average ampo.

Re: Planet Caravan and Solitude

The Leslie speaker used a horn that would spin around at great velocity creating the sound captured on "Planet Caravan" (though not, I feel, "Solitude"). A nice effect, Hammond players (see the above post) seem to love 'em, but they notoriously break down with monotonous regularity.
