  • The early tools for Tony's fingertips

What tools did Tony Iommi exactly used to mold the new fingertips?

    Where did he mold these?

Did he make these in one day, or did he go through it by trial and error for days?

Premonition of a shattered world thatís gonna die.
In the age of reason, how do we survive?
The protocols of evil ravaging so many lives?

But, what did he melt these with? Heat? Or something else?

I wanna know more. But, if he really just burned these until they melt, wouldn't the smell be highly toxic? if he was using kitchen fire that has a good airflow, wouldn't the neighbours notice?

No it wouldn't be highly toxic, it would just smell like burnt plastic.

Toxic? No ... would the neighbors notice? Highly unlikely ...

No it wouldn’t, not like he was melting a cauldron size of soap detergent bottles, where smoke was bellowing through the building or neighborhood.

I would gladly piss off the neighbors for a day or two to save my career as a guitar player and help found the greatest band of all time.

Not sure where I saw this but Tony used a soldering iron to mold the thimbles and used leather from a jacket that he still uses for them. He says no other leather works as well. Just imagine playing light strings with no sense of touch!

I saw an Iommi interview where he said a company now makes the finger tip inserts form him.
