    Re: :(

Maybe Ozzy has less power in his voice than Dio but, my point is that the best albums from Black Sabbath are the 6 first albums (I will not included Technical Ectasy and Never Say Die! because it really not sounds like Sabbath before...)and each member put of his own in the songs. Anyway it depends of the tastes... (or maybe it's me who are a little bit to close about the other eras!) Anyway, I'm happy for you because Black Sabbath with Dio seems to be your favorite era and I would cry of happiness too if it would be Ozzy in the line up hehe. I hope you a great show and to every post-Ozzy era fans (even if I cross my fingers to see Ozzy with Black Sabbath someday ...)

What about Iommi's playing? Don't you like THAT either? This tour is probably a last chance for us all to hear Tony live! Come on! [/quote]
That's why I will probably buy a ticket! It will be an honour to see him with my own eyes! And to HEAR him! m/

It's all a matter of taste you know.
You like the Ozzy era, I love all the eras.
By the way, NSD and TE rock imo.

That's not a point. It's an opinion. I actually happen to agree with it, but at this point, I'm grateful that they've finally decided to tour without Ozzy again. The guy is in rugged shape, he can't be arsed recording new material, and refuses to venture outside of the same 8 or 9 songs they've been playing since 2001. Hell, 2005, I remember them talking about trying out some lesser-played tunes on tour. What did they give us? They put The Wizard back into the set, and added Sleeping Village, which isn't much of a song in the first place.

Dio, in spite of being a senior citizen at this point, can still sing, and recorded 3 new songs with Tony in just a couple months. As long as they mix up the setlist a bit more than in '92, I think it'll be a killer show.

Yep, and if they do some Ozzy songs, like the rarer ones-then we got a show (if he sings Trashed I'll scream with joy )

As far as seeing another tour with songs that were old before most people here were born. I would love to because those songs are timeless and i'm sorry that I too missed the original Sabbath revolution.

Yes, I agree. Its still The Black Sabbath for now--now known as Heaven and Hell. But don't you see why? Its because the classic origin of the group's name Black Sabbath, will always be synonymous with four names: Tony, Ozzy, Geezer and Bill.

Black Sabbath with Ozzy were inducted into the Hall of Fame. I do believe Sabbath is Ozzy and Ozzy is Sabbath.

The original Sab's are where it all began. There is no denying what these 4 guys created had a huge impact on music and audiences everywhere and Ozzy's image and voice was the perfect match for the music Sabbath was cranking out.

I know I will be called close-minded but i'm not, really. I have listened to the other singers and watched them perform, but its like there is something missing. <span style="color: #3333FF">The magic that <u>only</u> Ozzy can deliver.</span> Sabbath without Ozzy is still a great band- Iommi is THE guitar god-,but Sabbath with Ozzy is just phenomenal! Even if Ozzy don't sing as good as Dio can, Ozzy has a presence on stage that is unmatched by anyone who stands in front of that mic with Sabbath.

                            Re: :(

                            Iommi = Black Sabbath. Period.

I love the Ozzy era stuff. Trust me, that music is Scripture to me. I know those albums down to every pop and hiss. If Ozzy and Sabbath went on tour and really mixed up the set list with some of the more obscure Ozzy era stuff, sign me up. Think heavy on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage era stuff, with a few songs from Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy sprinkled in.

But we haven't gotten anything truly exciting from this line-up since...well...1998. Almost a decade. Playing the same eight songs at a few summer shows every year isn't progress. It's Stagnation, and makes the band nothing more than a tired nostalgia act. Look at what a lot of Sabbath Alumni have been doing in the last few years and you see that these guys are musicians who want to create new stuff and get out there and push themselves. Ozzy, for reasons I'm unaware of, isn't in that group.

I'm reading between the lines. I believe it comes down to the fact that Tony Iommi knows he can't scrap Sabbath Mk 1 because of PR reasons. He also is probably bored to tears and frustrated with Sabbath's status right now with Ozzy. He also wants to dust off some of post-Ozzy stuff that has been criminally overlooked. Enter a golden opportunity with Dio to get back on the road and play some forgotten classics.

Put me in the camp of Sabbath fans who want something new. I don't care what lineup it takes. I'm ready to retire War Pigs and Paranoid and hear some other stuff from an amazing library of songs that has been overlooked in the last decade.

The Ozzy albums are great. No question about it.

                              BUT
this is what Ozzy sounds like these days:
                              <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>

and this is what Dio sounds like:
                              <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>

Why would anyone prefer to see (or HEAR) Ozzy?
Don't care which God you follow, whose promises you swallow.
