Gotta be "Cross Purposes" for me. Geezer being on this album was big for me plus you gotta love "Evil Eye," "Virtual Death," "Cross of Thorns" and "Immaculate Deception."

"TYR" is a close second.

Eternal Idol. Most musically consistant album that Martin is on.

The Eternal Idol, followed closely by Cross Purposes. Headless Cross was good too. And Tyr. And Forbidden.

Tony Martin is fucking great.

Agreed about both Cross Purposes (although I gotta add my fondness for Cardinal Sin and the Hand That Rocks the Cradle) and Tyr.

The Eternal Idol was to me a new beginning of Sabbath!!!
It came as a "saviour" after Born Again and Seventh Star, 'cause those are two of my "least favourite" Sabbath albums togeteher with Never Say Die.

for me Born Again & Never Say Die is one of favorites and i can't compare Eternal Idol with Born Again - Born Again & Never Say Die much better, very much IMO

Gotta The Eternal Idol. From start to finish it is the best musically, lyrically and sonically that the group ever recorded with Martin. There's not a track of filler on the album and this is not the case with later releases.

Cheers.

All the Tony Martin albums are decent, but I've got to go for 'Tyr'. 'Cross Purposes', 'The Eternal Idol' & 'Headless Cross' all have strong songs, but I feel 'Jerusalem' is the strongest Martin Sabbath track, with the likes of 'Anno Mundi' & 'The Lawmaker' also being worth anyone's time

Forbidden is easily my fave of the Martin era.
More doomy and 'earthy' feeling than the others.
Also one of the few times where Tony doesn't wail and totally overkill every track.

'I can't get close enough' is still in my mind one of the best non-original line up songs to carry the name Black Sabbath.
