Yes it spans the Martin years bouncing around from Headless Cross to Tyr to Forbidden , very cool .

The only thing weird about it . It has the Cross Purposes line-up in the center and cover but no songs from that cd.

Hell I saw that at Wal-Mart a while ago, but I dismissed it because I wasn't into Post Ozzy Sabbath yet! Damn, I don't have a lot of those songs

I have one better than that , it called the best of Black Sabbath . It has songs for the aforementioned cds + Cross Purposes also .

Pretty good if you want an introduction to the Martin years.

But now, why do you think this compilation is so weird? Actually is pretty better than 90% of SAabbath's Best Of cds

                    Re: Weirdest.Compilation.Ever.

Other than the fact that it was released only a couple years ago, I'd say... Well, it's definitely not a "greatest hits" CD. It's got songs they never played live, it ain't got _THE_ hits you know, Headless Cross, When Death Calls. Not like this era was a "singles" era anyway, but still. On top of that it says This budget-priced best-of features 14 of the heavy metal pioneers' most popular songs, including "Heaven in Black," "Anno Mundi," and "Guilty as Hell."

Hey, I like them all but they're most definitely not the most popular. What does the record company gets from this? Let's be realistic, how many copies can it sell?

Many, many copies, and you know why? 95% of Sabbath fans donīt know a squat about TM era, so they may look to this album and say "Wow! A new songs cd? I'm gonna buy it!"

Haha, a good one! What if some of the not so bright ozzfest crowd buys the recent Greatest Hits, then this one, he may go like "Wow, there was another band called Black Sabbath!"

Still, The Gates of Hell without Headless Cross and The Battle of Tyr without Odin's Court and Valhalla do seem a little bit weird.

I wouldn't call it the best choice of Martin era songs though, but it does rock anyway.
