About the same here. I lived in a Hispanic neighborhood for about 6 years. Learned to read some, know enough vulgar Spanish to start a good bar fight..

I can do the same thing with Canadian French. Not really enough to hold a conversation, but probably enough to get my face slapped or start a fight at a bar in Quebec.

thanks Butt! Now, Norwegian is a good language to learn, because a) it's really nice as long as you don't go fort the Nynorsk version (it's some artificial feminist version of Norwegian, at least it's what my teacher told me!), b) the Swedes and Danes will also understand you, and c) well, it's a friendly people, open to the world and welcoming, at least it was my impression when I visited!

(for the record, I never had a Norwegian girlfriend!!!)

Well, I'm German so that's "my" language.

I learned English, French and Spanish at school. Oh, and I live in Vienna at the moment and so I'm able to speak their funny kinda German dialect

It's a shame that I can't remember all these nice phrases in Englsih because I didn't use it for at least 1 year. So you have to pardon me for my low educated style
