Depends on what you mean: Better cover in what way? If you want the crowd to get involved, NIB, better known song. If you want to give the drummer a work out, Symptom. If you want (fill in the blank) then you should play (x or Z) and so on.

      Depends also on the era.

      Ozzy Era: Spiral Architect
Dio Era: Sign Of The Southern Cross
Others Era: Born Again or Angry Heart/In Memory
      Martin Era: Nightwing

If I would cover one of those songs it would be N.I.B, Symptom is imo a better song but N.I.B for some reason feels more interesting to cover. Dunno why ^^

Don't do Symptom if you're not going to do the acoustic part at the end. The song loses so much power that way.

But if you can/will do the whole song, go for Symptom!

Do Symptom. The acoustic part at the end lends itself well to jamming.

Well this isn't NIB or Symptom, but until I decided which of those two to cover first, I did a (pretty crappy IMO) cover of Black Sabbath. tell me what you think:

I think that you should turn the distortion up on your amp, it was set too clean. Also seemed like you were a bit slow, bust out the metronome and practice it. This is a good song to learn with a metronome though, it'll help you with your timing holding longer notes, your trills, picking dynamics and of course the uptempo Triplett pattern, which gave me fits learning.

Just set the metronome to 68 bpm for the slower parts. 126 for the uptempo Triplett part and you'llbe playing it great in short order. Although the Triplett part takes some time and dedication to nail down, I started off at 104 bPm and worked my way up to 132 bpm so I could play it accurately at 126 (worked on it for months, lol). Counting is paramount to playing this song accurately. Great song to learn the basics of metal though, it covers the bases pretty damn well. Good luck man, you'll have it sooner than you realize

I was most certainly running distortion through my amp... must be youtube destroying the audio quality or something. Thanks for the tips though man!

my old band used to cover NIB and it always went down well, the bass solo sets it up well and it has a nice relentless drive, a big sing along chorus and 2 solos that lend themselves well to improve.

So true on all counts. Not to mention its rather easy and fun to play.
