  • Chinese Democracy

So yet again Axl has said the turgid crock of shit known as 'Chinese Democracy' has a release date... Whether it happens... Who knows... probably fewer care... It certainly won't be changing lives or (as some laughably claim) saving the recording industry...

    In case you you care...

Well it has to come out sooner or later, maybe this time it's the one because there is one song(Shackler's Revenge)on Rock Band 2,there is one song(If The World)in the ending credits of an upcoming movie who's name is escaping me,and a good part of the world heard the leaked demos on internet so in my opinion there is no point in not releaseing the c.d anymore since a good bunch of people have already heard it.
Where I was,I had wings that couldn't fly
    Where I was,I had tears I couldn't cry
My emotions,Frozen in an icy lake
I couldn't feel them,Until the ice began to break

It's been "coming out" on this season since what? 99?

Axl's publicist, Geffen Records, Eddie Trunk and most of Axl's band (who are pretty scared of his wrath) have all said the album's been given to the label. That means the release is in THEIR hands, not Axl's.

If you REALLY think Axl has no say in the release date (whether it's with the company or not) you are very wrong.

My money's on Axl Rose dying in some sad, ridiculous, and demeaning way, and Chinese Democracy being released posthumously. I'll give it another 10 years or so

Aw, Ken, don't be such a cruel bastard!! ..Go wager your money on something and someplace else I had given up on GnR a long time ago for multiple simple and complicated reasons..But Axl always was my clear favourite one from the band. My gut feeling is that Chinese Democracy is destined to be a musical debacle..Don't ask me why, I probably just know. In the meantime, regardless of whether we ever get another album from Axl and his sidekicks again, I just don't wish the slightest ill-will toward Axl, whatever his sins and failings, both real and imagined..

I have heard the leaks. They are OK, but not the classic G N' R we all love.
IMO, SLash is the heart and soul of G N' R, and if they ever want to do justice to the band, Axl and Slash must mend the fence. Sadly, Velvet Revolver may be the closest we ever get to a classic G N' R sounding CD.

Obviously he has some say in it but it's legally their property. Just like Greatest Hits in 2004, the label could probably put it out whatever he said if they really, really, really wanted.

Why wouldn't that be the case? It's happened to bands in the past. Like the way Priest's first label does all kinds of crap with their old albums.

                    There is a difference.

The label has to keep Axl sweet. They want future revenue. They don't want him to cut all ties with them.

An example, this month the company I work for wanted to release a greatest hits package by a middle range artist no longer signed to us. The product was ready to go but then the artists manager kicked up a stink. My company had a small stake in the artists new album on a rival label & there was the small possibilty of the company making some money down the line... So we pulled the greatest hits project & scrapped the stock, just to keep the artist onside should oppertunities arise along the road.

So with someone like GnR & Axl, they're not gona piss him off now if there could be a pay out down the line.

I do recall similar things with Sammy Hagar, his label kept pushing for a greatest hits of his solo stuff and his management kept propping them up by encouraging them to focus on Van Halen.

I just can see Geffen wanting to get rid of Axl, really. He took them to court over their greatest hits release in 2004, took forever to get his album out, made himself very unpopular which is bound to influence sales...it's hard to see them wanting him to spend $15 million on another album to release in some 13-odd years (when he's about 60!).

My thought on this is dissapointment. Has there ever been a rock band that was bigger and better thaty GNR? No. They were on the very top of the rock world and do to Axl's dope and poor attitude broke up this great band. Now 20 years latter we are just watching the downfall of one of rocks greatest acts ever just lose everything. If I was as big a rock star at they were in 1991 I promise I would do anythiong to stay on top and by this time in my life my name would be up there with the Beatles Stones Elvis ect... and not to a life of disapointment dope lies and leting the fans down.
