  • Black Widow - Demons of the Night Gather to See Black Widow

I just saw the new Black Widow CD/DVD of their 1970 performance at the Beat Club of the entierty of their classic album "Sacrifice". It's definitely one of the most unique, brilliant, awesome rock performances ever. It features a stage act in which the lead singer (Kip Trevor) acts out him summoning a demon woman named Astaroth into his circle. It makes me wonder if Alice Cooper was inspired by this performance, if he even saw it. In the booklet's notes, it talks about how they wanted to make their stage act authentic, so they studied the demonic arts and actually thought that they could summon the devil on stage. Anyway, besides the stage act, the songs are excellent, including a roaring version of "Come to the Sabbat" and "Sacrifice". There are some video clips of this concert on youtube, although some of the songs are incomplete due to some of the content being inappropriate for youtube. Anyway, here are those clips that are available. However, if you are a fan of Black Widow, I strongly suggest getting this.

I love Black Widow, I knew the DVD was already out though. Me & Clive Jones from Widow talk all the time, they actually have a new album coming out that he says has a follow-up to Come to the Sabbat on it called "Hail Satan"
"Just remember love is life and hate is living death" - A National Acrobat

I never really got the fascination with these guys either. A pretty average prog band if you ask me.
