that depends on how you look at it I suppose (i bet you were a "millennium starts on January 1 2001" guy too)... but the TEN YEARS, January 1 2000 to December 31 2009 (the 00's, the first ten years starting with 2!) are indeed almost over...

          My top CD's

Brave New World, Dance of the Dead, A Matter of Life or Death, Bruce back with the rest of the band making their very best music and shows they have ever done. period. end of discussion.!!!!! IMHO

Angel of Retrobution, Nostradamus, again Rob back with the guys and making music.

The Gloruios Burden Framing Armongaddon Iced Earth, I got into these guys because Ripper joined them after Priest and I was hooked.

At War with the Mystics The Flaming Lips flying purple elephants in tu-tu's on a green cloud pink sky with blue mountains no more need to said.

Inferno Moterheads very best cd ever won a Grammy go Lemmy!!!!

Them Crucked Vultchers old guys with a great new sound.

WolfMother best debut cd since G & R

The Devil You Know Dio version of Black Sabbath

Fires at Midnight Blackmore's Night yes I really get into this cd, her still shows he can play very well even with an achustic gutiar.

St. Anger Metallica yes I know I am the ONLY person on the planet who thinks this is their very best effor ever!!

Crack the Skye Mastodon Their best cd and awsome old school metal with a 21st century influence.

          Horehound Dead Weather

          All Hope is Gone Slipknot

The Dirty South, Souther Rock Opera The drive By Truckers these two CD are very god outlaw Southern Rock at its very best. The Souther Gothic lyrics with the Opera telling the story of Lynard Skinnard and Patterson Hood teen years in the 70's. The Dirth South the story of Buford Pusser from the prespective of the gangisters he put away. GOOD STUFF!!!!!

Down to Earth, Black Rain, OZZY. Great stuff.

Well this is my list and I feel this is the best decade for music since the 70's. But if is wasn't for the old guard still rocking it would suck as bad as the 80's and 90's. Sorry but her in AMerica pop took over the air waves since MTV went on the air and most new music is just record company manufactured trash.

I will only name the one I consider to be the absolute best of them all, because there've been so many.

David Gilmour - On an Island (2006)
The dog's name is Pete. If he tries to mount you in the middle of the night, say "no" sternly. But don't look him in the eye.

I absolutely love David Gilmour's On An Island, but I've decided I need to really think this one through before I simply echo David's sentiment.

This is a monster thread, in the sense that, I swear I could write an entire forum thread page full of my outstanding favourite records of this decade. The past ten years have really been THAT rewarding in terms of countless rollicking releases I have bought, heard and still love, today. Alright, lemme narrow it down to my Top 25 Favourite Albums of the Decade:

                      Dying Fetus~Destroy the Opposition
                      Suffocation~Souls to Deny
                      Immolation~Unholy Cult
Skinless~Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead
                      Nile~Annihilation of the Wicked

                      Birdflesh~Night of the Ultimate Mosh
                      Insect Warfare~World Extermination
                      Slayer~God Hates Us All
                      Gwar~Beyond Hell
Lividity~Used, Abused And Left for Dead
                      Bloodbath~Nighmares Made Flesh
                      Psycroptic~The Scepter of the Ancients
                      Hate Eternal~ I, Monarch

Sick Of It All~Death to Tyrants

^^I was hugely tempted to name more than one album for some of the bands here, but like I said, if I were to name everything I rate as top-drawer faves from 2000-'09, it would have to be a Top 100, no less.
