Just wanted to know what everyone's favourite live album(s) is. Personally my favourite live album has got to be Motrhead's "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". The renditions of songs like Metropolis and Overkill are just massive on that one (hell all the songs are!) and it brings back good memories of when I saw them live with Sepultura.

Really? I know that opinions are opinions, but I always thought that those 2 were kind of rubbish. No matter how much I love Sabbath, I gotta admit that we have yet to see the essential Black Sabbath live album. But it took years before we got Led Zeppelin's "How The West Was Won" so who knows

Re: Live albums

Iron Maiden's "Live After Death" is my favorite live album ever. It annoys me that Iron Maiden continually puts out live albums that are nowhere near as good as "Live After Death" (besides, how many more live versions do we need of "The Trooper", "Number Of The Beast", "Two Minutes To Midnight" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name").

Motorhead's "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" is also fantastic. Again, here is another band that has issued a zillion live albums (although many are not band approved).

Judas Priest's "Unleashed In The East", Slayer's "Decade of Aggression", Testament's "Live In London", the first disc of Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma", the Ramones "It's Alive", Naked Raygun's "Free Shit!" and the Big Boys/Dicks - "Live At Raul's" split LP are also favorites.

Re: Live albums

I noticed above someone said they liked Past Lives and Live Evil. Well for one, I've heard the Live at Last part of Past Lives and it didn't sound that good to me. I don't know about the rest of it. Live Evil didn't appeal to me much for their Sabbath classics. Dio just doesn't have the voice to fit songs like Paranoid, N.I.B. or Iron Man. Not that he doesn't have a great voice, it just doesn't fit those songs.

My favourte live album currently is Reunion by Black Sabbath (we all know this one ) It's great. Behind the Wall of Sleep (for those reading my posts on this forum thinking I'm obsessed with the song, I'm not) is right where it belongs before N.I.B. (on Live Evil, whether Geezer did a bass solo before N.I.B. at the concert or not, it wasn't on the album which disappointed me...)

The ones I'm listening to frequently:
Black Sabbath - Live Evil
Deep Purple - Come Hell or High Water (wondering what this new Live in Europe '93 thing is like, can it actually be better than Come Hell?)
Deep Purple - Live at the Olympia
Deep Purple - In Concert with LSO
Deep Purple - Rotterdam Ahoy (for playing Fever Dreams, Rainbow in the Dark and Fools! )
Metallica - S&M (Outlaw Torn alone deserves the mention)
Uriah Heep - Live in Moscow (for the three new songs they played - those were great!)
"There's only one Black Sabbath... I like to call him Tony Iommi" - racer
