Default Your 5 Favorite Movies

This may have already been posted but...Anyways, here are my top five, pretty much in order. Keep in mind, trilogies don't count, so you can't say Lord of The Rings or Star Wars; say which one, ie The Two Towers or Return of The Jedi

1) The Shawshank Redemption

2) The Breakfast Club

3) The Usual Suspects

4) Big Fish

5) Stand By Me

Honorable Mentions: Dawn of The Dead (The original and the remake), Day of The Dead, The Green Mile, Saw, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Garden State, Saved, Dogma, Blazing Saddles, and Black Hawk Down.

Edward Schissorhands

Pulp Fiction

Lord of the rings 1

Lolita

Phantom of The Opera

It's hard to pick just five, but these are great.
Other films I love are almost everything by Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino. I also like the James Bond-films, especially the ones with Sean Connery. Old spegetti-westerns are also great, as well as films by Igmar Bergman. The Seventh Sail is my favourite Bergman-film. I like almost all sorts of film, action, comedy, drama, thiller, horror, musicals...

When it comes to seeing movies, I'm kinda bad with them. I watch very few, but the ones I do see are great. In no particular order:

1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

2. Almost Famous

3. Reservoir Dogs (even though it warped my perception of "Stuck in the Middle with You" for me)

4. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

5. Forrest Gump (great soundtrack by the way)

This list will probably change in the next few months depending on my mood.

Yeah, Tim Burton is awesome.
Those movies are also great, especially Ed Wood. I think Johnny Depp makes his best acting performance in this one.
I love the scene when he's on the phone and talkes to a film-guy of some sort. The film guy says something like "Youre not gay are you?" and Ed Wood (Johnny Depp) says: "No, I'm just a trensvestite".
I laugh my ass of every time.. They way he says it is just so funny!
Big Fish and Sleepy Hollow are also great movies, but have you seen A Nightmare Before Christmas. I don't thinks it's directed by Burton, but it's written by him and you see that it is. It's great!

And I can't wait for Burton's new film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with Johnny Depp (again).

I love Tim Burton's twisted style. It's a bit spooky, and ge always has a great story to tell.

Favorite movies? The top 3 are definite in my book.

1. Happiness (by Todd Solondz)
then there's a big gap and then:
4. Ivan The Terrible - Back To The Future (Russian)
5. Irony of Fate (Russian)

Honorable mentions:
The Piano Teacher (French/Austrian)
Rain (New Zealand)
Eyes Wide Shut (uncut - Kubric)
Snatch (Guy Ritchie)
Pulp Fiction
Natural Born Killers
East West (Russia/France)
Lolita (the latest)
Leon (aka The Professional)
Golden Veal (Russian)
A Nightwatch (modern Russian - not bad)

I thought I would also mention the movies that made it pretty big in US, but which are bad and overated:
The Secretary - piece of shit amaricanized commercial version of The Piano Teacher mentioned above.
American Beauty - commercial version of Happiness
The Blair Witch Project - nice try, but was I supposed to be scared?
Mognolia - booooring
English Patient - give me a fucking break - it's a joke, I am with Elaine from Seinfeld on this one.
Burnt By The Sun (Russian) - another movie ripoff.

Yeah...in my opinion, that whole "ear-slicing" sequence was gratuitous and totally unnecessary to be in that film. The rest of the movie was actually pretty interesting and intense, but when that scene came up, I almost lost my lunch and kept thinking "Why the hell did Tarantino have to put THAT in there ?". And I agree -- I can't hear "Stuck in the Middle with You" anymore without thinking about that scene !!

The blind men shout "Let the creatures out, we'll show the unbelievers."
